So, it's Xmas morning. Hungry, and too lazy to cook our own breakfast, we headed off down the hill in search of a restaurant that would be open.
My sweetie was skeptical, she said the only places open were likely to be Denny's, or Ihop.
She was almost right.
We started cruising down 5th st., from the south end of town, headed to
the north end, which would bring us to the aforementioned eateries.
My sweetie mentions this new Mex restaurant in a passing remark and my interest and curiosity was piqued . . I made a right on Alameda
and drove us up to Hiline Rd. There was Ramires in all it's newly opened glory, with a neon sign flashing "OPEN".
I parked the truck, and we went in, we were the only customers in the place. This is a clean, yet plain little restaurant with a drive through, reminicent of many such in southern California.
We looked at the menu, and decided on breakfast burritos, and some "jamiaca", a counter person took our order. he was very friendly, and striking in appearance with his gold tooth display :)
Those breakfast burritos kicked ass ! They were each at least a foot long, and definitly a two hander :) Full of crispy bacon and ham, eggs, taters, and much cheese. Probably the least greasy breakfast
burrito I've ever eaten.
Sorry Spiros, these breakfast burritos are Better than yours.
These ass whippin' burritos cost $3.70 each. Ramires also sports
a good salsa, red and green. Not very hot, but flavorful. Marinated jalapenos and carrots, sliced and ice cold radishes are available too.
What was extra surprising to us was the fact that the guacamole was made from real avocados, with lime and salt. Not that "mystery guac"
that one is usually treated to.
I give Ramires 4 stars based on what we ate, the great attitude of the server, and overall cleanliness. I'm looking forward to trying the menudo, which they offer Saturday & Sunday .
Open 24/7. Muy Bueno.
I brought a '90 ford ranger to larry joslin, because my 4x4 was not
engaging, and where I live, it's a necessity.
They rebuilt the hubs, and got the ranger back on the road, pronto.
The bill for this was half of what I thought it would be :)
Larry Joslin, his mechanics, and Jacky at the desk are first rate, quality
people who are the best at what they do.
I recommend this business without reservation.

My day off, and I was vexed . . .
My Bronco's rear brake lights and
turn signals weren't working. I
checked my fuses (all good) and
inspected the 'bulbs' . .
My usual auto repair standby was
shorthanded and busy.
I found myself in 'Joslin's' in a
last ditch effort to get my problem
fixed . . Larry Joslin said he'd take
a look, probably a "switch" located
in the steering column, which he
orders. He tells me thats most likely
problem, but he'll check every thing
out before installing the aforementioned
switch . . .
I get a call an hour later, problem solved.
Wrong sized bulbs were the problem !!
I'd installed them 8 or 9 months ago, what
a dumbass I felt like.
My bill was $20. Larry Joslin is an honest
man. I'll be giving "Joslin's" my business.
tamales. Today, after work, I phoned in an order for a dozen pork ( chili
verde) tamales.
I dropped in 45 minutes later, and my tamales were in a big bag, Felt like there was a brick in there ! Heavy duty :) I paid up the $14, and headed for home . . the smell was tantalizing, the tamales were piping hot.
I had to try one of those delicacies, couldn't wait. The aroma itself was almost enough to make me bust a funky, I'm a true tamale whore.
The masa is flavorful, that tamale was chock full o' cubed up pork in green sauce, excellent taste and texture. I haven't thrown a lip over a tastier tamale . . these rival the "famous" Tamales Ancira in Chula Vista , Ca.
Right here in Pocatello, a small city on the edge of the snake river plain, nestled in the hills of many mountained southeastern Idaho, are some of the finest tamales you can eat.
El Jacalito has earned the five star rating with these killer homemade
tamales.

Went in for breakfast yesterday after work, and ordered up some
Huevos Texanos . . . . umm. Pretty damn good, satisfying, and
easy on the wallet.
This restaurant is always clean, and friendly. Also, I believe it's
the ONLY mexican restaurant hereabouts where you can get
menudo . . .
Muy bueno :) -

Well now.
I've passed by this restaurant many times. Never went in, I'd heard they were so-so . . .
Went in today, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Machaca plate for breakfast - -WOW ! Very good indeed. Looked like there was well over a pound of shredded beef mixed in with those eggs ! Better come hungry.
From what I could see being served to other customers, 'skimpyness' does not apply here, looks like generous portions are the rule. My machaca was excellent, and looked pretty with the spanish rice and refried beans, tortillas on the side. The 'house salsa' is muy bueno !!
The service was very good, and the price was right, I got out of there for about $12 with tip.
Ample parking. Nothing fancy, but nice and clean. They serve your favorite cervesa's, too.
Cheap and Good.
The bartenders are friendly, and the drinks are cheap. I like the fact
that you can smoke a cigarette with your beer and shots.
The bar is full of locals, and they tend to be unpretentious and pleasant
which is a good thing to me.
The food is okie dokie, what more do you need in a dive bar?
Bajio Mexican Grill. Passed by it numerous times and thought it one of
those gringified mex shops, so I never bothered. Today, I bothered, and
i'm glad i did. This restaurant is nestled into a strip mall just off the 86.
The interior has much tile, the tables and chairs are wooden. There are paintings with a south of the border motif. Very comfortable and nice. The food is laid out, kinda' like at Subway, and the servers make
up your plate. I have to say, everything looked and smelled awesome.
You can have it your way . . more of this and less of that, alot of this and none of that. Very nice.
I ordered a sweet pork quesadilla. I had cheese, MUCH pork, onions, sweet corn In it, I had sour cream, salsa, and jalpenos On it. With a Mexican bottled Coke. Excellent taste and texture.
The prices are very reasonable, and the quality of the food is apparent.
My expectations were exceeded, dear reader. I will be back.
more than reasonable, downright cheap.
I ordered a beef (spelled 'bef') torta, and it was good, but nothing to write
home about. The thin, beautiful, luscious lipped lady who took my order
was very nice, I'd go back just to give her my order again ;p Next time i'll
order the tacos ;)
A nice location on Quinn, next to Costco and Chili's. Judging
from what I saw, ****** is feeling the pinch ! The parking lot was
packed, and tables were scarce !
Determined to do my Yelper duty, I parked, and sauntered into this
den of good smells. There were probably 10 or 15 people in front of
me, but the que moved rapidly. I ordered up, a cheeseburger with
everything on it (onion, mushrooms, pickles . .) regular cajun fries,
a coke. I had to also order a kosher dog, with cheese, mustard, and
relish. Just doing my duty here, good reader :)
The burger was excellent, very juicy. Any juicier, and I would've
needed a fork to eat it. The fries are superb, the potato's are from
a local farm in Rigby. My dog was good indeed, one of the very
best i've ever thrown a lip over.
Judging from the faces of the people enjoying their burgers and
fries, it's all good for this burger shack, lot's of smiles and finger
licking going on. While a tad more expensive than other burger
joints here in town, they are also much tastier !
As I headed for home, my headlights cornholed their way through
the icy darkness, and I was well satisfied.
In a speck of a town, somewhere in the middle of nowhere . . Yow !
I looped around a long block, and pulled my Kenworth right across
the street. I jumped out of the cab, and let my nostrils flare, taking in
the rich spicy smell of savory meats.
I mosied across the street. The kitchen is inside a big white school
bus, and there's a huge awning over wooden benches . . I checked
out the menu, so much to choose from, should I get a torta, burrito,
or a taco . . Tacos it is , soft carnita tacos.
A head suddenly appeared, the service window was pulled up, and
a mexican dude with eyes blue're than mine was smiling at me.
"Glad to see you, and this taco truck, too. What are you doing in this
scrub of a town ?" I asked.
"Saving you gringos from shitty bland food, bringing color and flavor
to a gray table" Did he really say that? No, but he should have !
Anyway, I ordered. Two soft carnita tacos, straight up, and a bottle
of jarritos tamarind.
Got my order and headed back to my truck to eat, got inside and I
didn't know whether I wanted to snort them or eat them, the aroma
was fantastic ! The taste was . . nirvana.
Excellent ! When I go back through Malad again in two weeks, I
know where I'll be having lunch.

Had the 'Hungry Rancher', that's 3 eggs, fresh hash browns, 3
bacon, 3 sausage, ham, and a big fluffy biscuit. Much strong
black coffee, too. For $9.99.
Ummm, ummmm. Hit's the spot. Flavorful. The service was friendly
and prompt. Across the street from ISU, this restaurant is a local
favorite, for good reason.

A good place for pancakes and waffles. Friendly, attentive staff, and very reasonable prices. A nice family restaurant. A cut above.
I was seated by a friendly hostess, and a server promptly asked if I wanted something besides water to drink. Coffee, then, black. It was
weak, I can't remember when i've had coffee that flippin' weak.
After perusing the menu, I settled on the 'bisquit & gravy combo', that's
with egg's and sausage links. A cup o' weak joe later, my breakfast came . . not much there, but then for about 5 bucks, what can I expect, eh?
The bisquits were fluffy, but the gravy was oh so bland . . good thing for the salt & pepper, and tabasco. I looked at my fork, and noticed the tines all crooked, and had a reverie . . wondering how many pie holes this fork entered, and pictured some farmers wife with a muscular underslung jaw worrying this same fork to death . . .
To sum up, this breakfast was bland, and a tad skimpy. Looking around me, I noticed most of the patrons were older folks, so my
bland, spiceless meal started to make sense. I got out of there for under $10, with tip. My $2 tip was generous, I thought.
Getting back into my truck, I thought I'd finally solved the riddle of
Butterburr's packed parking lot. Can you say 'price point'?
Would I go back ? For breakfast, that would be a No. My So Cal
taste buds did not approve.

The menudo IS mighty fine, if you like menudo. The hard shell
shredded beef tacos are absolutely killer, love 'em. The carne asada
fries are excellent !
Very nice, indeed.
