The best thing about Cole's market is it's proximity to my apartment. I can quickly pick things up and be on my way. Most of the people that shop here are the kinds of folks that like to do all of the following: buy liquor, smoke cigarettes, gamble with those lottery scratch card things, and wire money. Many of the men who shop here look a bit drunk (or look like they wish they were drunk).
I like Taco Bell - let me get that straight. But this particular location sucks. It's small and cramped. The tables and chairs are less than entirely clean. The bathroom reminds me of what you find on the side of a grimy gas station. Last time I was there we had a misunderstanding with my order. They corrected it but they seemed to want me to understand the fault was mine, not theirs. After they explained my guilt they didn't like my explanation that they were the ones to blame.
Since this is the "Best Kebab & Fish Bar" I'm a little surprised that I'm the first to review it! I used to live in an apartment right above this place, enjoying the savory aroma of Kebab all day and all night, and hearing the joyful scuffles and banter of drunk hooligans while they scarfed down kebabs after the pubs closed.
I ate there almost every day. "George Bush!!" yelled the Turkish/Kurdish cooks when I entered. They liked to call me that because I'm American. I tried to convince them to support the creation of a Kurdistan homeland independent of the Turks, but they just stared at me blankly, waiting for me to order.
The best food they have there is the Doner Kebab, sliced off of that huge tasty revolving hunk of meat. Some people might be concerned about eating meat un-refrigerated for weeks on end, but I don't care. The heat lamp was sure to kill most of the bacteria.
The fries are good, but like most "chips" in England a bit too soggy. I would have the guys cook my chips extra long to suit my tastes. The cooks would do anything I ask - which I like.
They tried to get me to buy their baklava, claiming it would provide me with sexual powers. I tasted it once - didn't notice any change.
I liked this place so much that when I left England I gave them my TV.

Had a gentleman from Turkey visiting our office in Pleasanton for a week and he mentioned that he was spending most nights eating at the Agora Bistro. He said it had the best Baklava in the world! I interrogated him and he admitted that he had better Baklava in Turkey once or twice. I went there, had a nice dinner outside, ate delicious Baklava (they make it fresh each day), and the manager of the restaurant gave us some Port on the house - nice touch.
Went there last night for a few drinks and had a great time. It was Tuesday night, yet the place was hopping with live Blues/Rock. Apparently they have live music every night - that's a nice feature. The shotgun-style bar and patrons have a kind of gritty authenticity that belies its strip mall location.
Recoats is in walking distance of where I live, so I've been here quite a few times.
During the early evening, it's a fairly quiet pub. Not too crowded. It's easy to find a place at the bar and get a drink.
After 10 on Friday and Saturday it turns into a club that caters mostly to a twentysomething set. It can get pretty packed.
If you like quiet pubs during the early evening - come here then. If you want a club go after 10 on Friday or Saturday.
A couple of the owners work behind the bar - they work hard to keep you with a drink and are very friendly. I've brought my mom, sister, and brother here on 3 separate occasions and they've always had fun.

Cosmo's Barber Shop In Pleasanton

This place entirely suits my needs for a basic men's haircut - and you can't beat the price - just $10. That's cheaper than CrappyCuts, plus the women that work here have a whole lot more experience than those that work in the big chain hair cutterys. I moved to Pleasanton last Fall and I've gotten my hair cut here about 7 times and had a good professional experience each time. I go to the woman on the 1st chair on the left and she does a great job cutting my hair and she's very pleasant.
