Bar Cento

Category: Pizza

5 star rating

Bar Cento is a great simple & affordable Roman enoteca.  The pizza's are phenomenal and the entree's are the perfect portion with the simplest & yummiest ingredients.  The wine list consists of 100 wines (cento is 100 in Italian) and it is just big enough.  Not to pretentious and easy to choose from.  The staff is fun, knowledgeable, and laid back.  The chef, Jonathon Sawyer is a great guy.  You can always catch him chattin' with guests or teaching kids how to make pizza at his Cook Chefin' class.  All in all it is a fantastic perfect addition to Cleveland.

Franny's

When my husband & I first moved to the slope we went to Franny's.  He had been there before with a friend and made me go becauyse he thought it was sooo awesome.  When I got there and our pizza showed, I thought wow this is a $14 pizza.  I wasn't impressed until I took that first bite.  Absolutely amazing.  We then ordered four more different kinds of pizza.  Yes that's right kids, we ordered a total of 6 pizzas and ate each and everyone of them.  We have been back on a bi-monthly basis.  Our bill is always around $80 (w/ one alcoholic bev each) but it is worth it.  We have even got take out.  We both weigh 600 lbs now but damn that pizza is good.

Blue Ribbon Sushi Brooklyn

I have to say that this is the best sushi in my neighborhood, probably one of the best & freshest in all of NYC.  This restaurant was great, we even took the boy with us.  They were very accommodating and welcoming to us with child.  We noticed that there seemed to be a community feel in the restaurant.  The fish was fresh and yummy and our service was pretty good.  I recommend whatever is on special, that is what we had and it was like I had never actually tasted sushi before.  Thanks BR.

We saw The Departed here last Monday.  Very cute theater right on Prospect Park.  There are two very distinct characteristics of this theater.
1.  Stairs, a lot of stairs.  And the bathroom is all the way down them.  Not cool after a soda pop goes thru you.
2.  Tiny, tiny, tiny individual theaters.  You kind of feel like you are watching the big screen at home.  Also the velvety chairs are very nice compared to most genero corporate chains.
I will definitely aim to hit this movie theater up again for my next viewing pleasure.

Bubby's Brooklyn

I will probably be editing this review after I am able to enjoy a proper meal at Bubby's.  My family and I stopped at this restaurant after a very long morning of trying to get to the Bronx Zoo (didn't happen, major accident on the BQE), then thinking of going into Manhattan (on a Monday??F*@# that), then going back into Brooklyn and heading to DUMBO.  We get to Bubby's and of course after our crap day they are closed.  However the super sweet bartender let us in and let us order.  We had soup, salad, & kiddies mac & cheese (for the boy).  Not bad, too quick to really make a judgment but we both really liked the space and the employees.  Few & far between restaurants will open their doors in between lunch and dinner.  Thank you Bubby's!  Oh yeah, almost forgot, I got a slice of heaven to go, I highly recommend the Peanut Butter Pie...Super Yum!

Because of my husband's profession (he's a chef), we love finding restaurants in the city on his days off.  We stopped at AOC for lunch with our 15 month old son.  We asked if they had high chairs (usually a child friendly indicator) and they did.  We sat down and were immediately ignored by our 'too cool for school' french server.  After about ten minutes without water, we asked for some.  How ridiculous is that.  We order a salad and a sandwich, items that usually take 10-15 minutes.  We had to ask for bread, which was given to two tables immediately after they sat down.  Our server was evil towards us but friendly towards everyone else.   It was unbelievably bad service targeted only towards us because we had a child.  If you are going to have high chairs, you should be friendly towards families.  If you do not want children in your restaurant, DO NOT have high chairs.  On a plus note, the food was good and the courtyard was very cute.

This restaurant is amazing and the chef, Jonathon Sawyer is possibly one of the most creative and talented chef's I have come by.  I have eaten at Parea for both lunch and dinner and I must say that I have never been disappointed.  The spinallo's are a delight and the big board of charcutiere is amazing.  The chicken is always superb and the zucchini kefedes are fantastic.  The lamb burger offered at lunch is cooked perfectly, with a little crispness on the edges.  The fries that come with it are to die for, although eating them more than once may pack on the lbs.  I also have enjoyed many a beverage and dessert.  I recently had a pumpkin pie creation that was super yum.  I have always had a great experience and I am excited about their new brunch.  I am curious to how Chef Sawyer will tackle Eggs Benedict...
