When you think of hole in the wall spots, imagine chefs hiding in plain sight cooking up meals that will dazzle your taste buds and no one seems to know. You can't believe there aren't lines out the door to demand their share. This is that kind of place. Forget atmosphere, forget fancy plating, this place is all about the food.

The amiable chef, Miguel, greets you with a warm smile when you walk in the door. The restaurant is not exactly made for dine in; but with it's 8+ seats and stoves in view of the tables, you really feel like you're in Miguel's kitchen and his staff is cooking just for you. I have been to Spain and we shared stories of sights and food of the region. He loves his craft and you will definitely taste the results. This is the best Spanish/Catalonian fare in the area, bar none. Go there, try the food, and say hi to Miguel for me!

Nine Thai, Nine Thai, Nine Thai...
What do you think you're doing, guy?
You are blessed with a talented cook,
But you really read one too many sales books...

Dining here felt like I walked into car dealership to haggle for a decent meal. Their up-sell is formulaic as a $20 super combo at most movie theaters (annoying as nats in your face). The attitude that we are not guests but rather walking wallets that need to be sucked clean cheapens the food itself, which by the way is astonishingly pricey. Don't people usually pay extra for great service and decor or at least for some kind of entertainment?

I'd stay away unless you find humor from how other people get douched on by the servers while you eat a nicely made meal at portions designed for models. In that case, I can empathize with your schadenfreude tendencies.

The beer here is magical. How the hell did they get it to taste like blueberry cupcakes??? But fair warning, too much of this beer will backfire on you. Blagh.

This a very cool hangout with a very long bar, a bunch of couches, and large community tables for a fun night with a small group of friends or a large rowdy crowd. And to top it off, they have a ton of beer on tap. There's something for everyone.

How can you not love this place?

thank you thank you thank you YELP for helping me find this place!!!

Not knowing where to go eat, I turned on my yelp app and instantly my craving for phhhoooooo was ON. We trekked over to South Main Street and almost missed this secret hut of awesome.

Once inside, little grandma ladies greeted us and sat us down. Hard wood floors, visible doorways into the kitchen, and arch between the dining rooms.. I felt like I was eating a meal at a friend's house.

Once that broth hits your tongue, you know these ladies love you.. at least love to feed you, just like my own grandma. Mmm... ahhh... More please!

We started our bar hopping on Main Street here on a Saturday night. Great local dive scene with pool table, ping pong, foosball, a HUGE beer selection, and an even more diverse crowd.

Coming from NYC and getting stuck in Chicago because of a missed American Air connection flight couldn't have been better, if it weren't for The Underground. After a few hours of bar hopping, I drifted into this hot spot. Unlike NYC clubs, there was no attitude at the door and the bartenders remembered who I was. A big plus! Not to mention the music was off the hook and so were the women. I'm thoroughly impressed and will be back when I actually come to visit Chicago on purpose.

This is easily one of my favorite spots in the city. Delicious food, comfortable decor, and great service! Holla to Sauri! She's the best there is. And request the blue row seating because they have pull down arm rests! Super laid back..

As for the food, try the chorishrimp and save the sauce to dip into. The buenos aires and tuna bonita cocas are the bomb diggity. Cubano bocadillo and carne con yuca should be able to tie you throughout the night. Order up a few rounds of the guava whiskeys and take a shot at the porron and you'll be good to go for hours of fun at this awesome chill spot.

Booyah! This place rocks. I walked into Golden Krust before going to the Prudential Center last week not knowing what to expect. I asked our servers there what was good and they all agreed that I had to try the Oxtail Combo, which I delightfully complied with and added an order of spicy beef patties on top. A few minutes later I was greeted with melt off the bones meat, sweet sweet plantains, stewed cabbage and rice & beans. Yum. A hearty meal fit for a king.

I had a little get away from work today to Hickory Tree. I got the roast beef joe, a bag of andy capp's hot fries, and a bottle of Joe Tea (bottled in Montclair!). The sandwich was monstrous and you definitely get what you pay for! This place totally changed what I thought a sloppy joe was in the past.

Horribly overpriced!!! You're paying for the fish food. Both you and the fish will probably be eating something passed off as gourmet...
