Why You Should Read My Reviewsrecently moved to the Bay Area and I'm discovering new places (for me) everyday!
My Favorite MovieThe Notebook, Beautiful Mind, The Classic, A Moment to Remember, Be With You
Don't Tell Anyone Else But...I love eating too much!
Pros:
-Food came out very quick
-Size is ok
Cons:
-So stingy with the broth
-Taste is ok, not as good as the hype.
-Price .. with 3 extra toppings my husband's bowl came out to be $16.
Oh and.we were asked for our orders before we were even seated.. it was our first time for all of us, so we were so confused. .. hello can you seat us first and give us a few minutes to look at the menu?
I'll stick w/ Maruichi or Halu Ramen now .. will try Ajisen Ramen next.
Boy were we dissapointed. We ordered 4 different rolls.. one of them was baked w/ scallops, and another that I liked best was Snowy crab something... and I'd say they're just ok.. not bad, but nothing special. We weren't wow-ed. The total for 4 rolls + tax + tips was $54.. a bit too much for a non-satisfying dinner for 2 (for us and our budget), But we probably ordered too much because we were so stuffed afterward. I think we'll need some convincing to come back.
So many choices to choose from. For my first trip, I stick with my usual toppings, and it was delicious! Will be coming back to try the other kinds!
It's cheaper than other ramen places in the area... It's really good but I'm not sure if it's the best one, I think I like Halu ramen better, but I always end up spending $13-$15 for my bowl.. there because the toppings are extras. And the reason I've been coming here more often is because I live about 5 minutes away..
Average about $8/bowl of ramen with toppings, or $10-$11 for the combo deals which include side dishes like calif rolls or potstickers (they're just ok - not worth getting imo unless you're really hungry)..
So far I've tried 5 of their ramen and I like Shoyu the best, followed by Tonkotsu, then Kuro.... Miso is ok.. and I don't like their Spicy Miso even though it looks like it's pretty popular. I always see other people ordering the Spicy Miso.
CASH only.. and they're closed between lunch and dinner on the weekdays.. It's best to come here for late lunch or late dinner so you don't have to wait.. During rush hour it's always packed. I recently walked pass their Mountain View location on Castro and it was also packed with many people waiting outside.
At first we were surprised and a little bit turned off by the shop (yeo it's not really a restaurant) setting, only 3 tables?? But luckily there were only 3 of us and we were hungry!! We ordered the $5.50 combos plus several other items... total came out to be around $20, and we were stuffed! Plus we still had a box of leftovers to take home! Can't say it's the best quality food, but it's pretty good.. and for the price? it's excellent. I think you can only get 99Ranch foodcourt items for about the same price, but the foods here are much much better.
Even if you don't order the combo, most of the items are 3 for $1.85. During our lunch lots of people came in and out of the stores buying food to go. I saw this one lady bringing in her own tupperware and she was buying the baked breads / buns. They all look so good, and it's 3 for $1.50!! or 60 cents each..Usually those buns sell for $1.50 each. Some bakeries sell them half price at the end of the day like after 8.30pm (which is still 70-75 cents).. but here you get it for 50 cents each, and anytime of the day!!! I'm not sure about the variety, but I think they have the typical Chinese bakery offerings such as bbq pork bun, pineapple bun, cream bun. The congee is $2/small or $3/large. I plan to come here often for take-outs.

I just moved to the area and was running out my supply of contact lenses. After reading the good reviews here, I called them for an appointment and got a next day (and it's Saturday!) appointment. So I came in about 5 minutes before. The staff was really friendly. As soon as I filled in the new patient form, I was taken care of. After the initial check (the computer + air puff thing) I had to wait for the doctor for a little bit, probably almost 15 minutes but it was not bad at all because they had so many selections of frames to try on! Then my exam was done by Dr. Kwok who was great! I was given a free pair of contacts to try on for a week, and my prescription will be finalized next week after I confirm that everything is fine.
I have VSP insurance and I'm pretty much covered for most of the costs. However I saw on my statement that even without insurance their prices is great. Only $39 for the contact lens fitting, and free exam for new patients! The basic glasses are free with frames too! Most of the frames that I like are under $200, they carry a lot of different name brands like Guess, CK, coach, A|X, juicy couture, banana republic, Escada, Sean John, etc.
Afterwards I couldn't decide on 2 frames that I really like, so they offered to hold them for me until my next appointment next week!
Oh and I made sure to check how much they're selling the contact lenses for because from my previous experience, it's always much cheaper to buy contacts online. But just now I checked and their price is as good as online!
Initially I wanted to move in on a Saturday. So around Tuesday or Wednesday that week I went to yelp for a good movers. I first contacted Anytime Movers, the marines/soldiers via email, and they were fast with their reply and quoted me $200 for 3 hours max for a Saturday move, which I thought was pretty good. However, I found out that U-PACK couldn't deliver my cube on the weekend. The soonest I could get is in on Monday.
Unfortunately the movers were fully booked for the rest of the week! Then I called Go-Pro Movers, also based on the good reviews here. However they're also very busy and might be able to squeeze in a small move (1BR). I told them mine shouldn't take too long since I didn't have that much stuffs. Basically I only had 3 big pieces of furniture (sofa, loveseat, and mattresses) and the rest are about 20 medium boxes and small items. I didn't think it would take longer than 2 hours. They quoted me $100/hr. Then I called a 3rd mover, which I forget who know, but they're also booked!
I started to freak out now, didn't realize it's such a busy moving season. Then I remember I was referred to Gilbert's by my apartment's leasing agent (The Pines @ north park). I was given Gilbert's name and a number. So I decided to call him, and yes he's available! They asked if I need 2 people, yes. He gave me a rate of $50/hr. So I was thinking it's $100/hr for 2 movers, which is the same rate as Go Pro. I decided to book them since they're recommended by the apartment and they're already familiar with the apartment site.
Long story short, they finished unloading all my stuffs in 1.5 hours, including helping me set up my king bed frame! In the end Gilbert's said, "It's 1.5 hours, so $75 please." I was gladly surprised. I was prepared to give them $150, so I gave them a generous tip of $45. This is the only time I ever tip this much everrrr.
They also did delivery for the same rate. So next time I'm buying furniture I'll definitely use their service again.
It wasn't planned today but we made it to Taylor for lunch. First impression? It's freakin hot and they don't have A/C!!!!! It was 103 degree outside today.. and the place was burning. There were a few fans blowing hot air .. eeeewww and anyways all of them were taken by other patrons.
I was sweating so much and couldn't really enjoy the food. In fact I think this was the first time I ONLY ate half a slice of brisket, half a link of sausage, and 1 bone of rib. Usually my appetite for texas bbq is much much much bigger. But my husband finished the everything else we got! So it is good.
The brisket is not as tender as other places, actually a bit on the tough side, and the fat layer is pretty thick. They also sliced the briskets thick.
Overall it's still great. I'd maybe come back during the winter time and will have better judgement :)
