Bottom line-It's hard to find a stylist you like and are confident telling them to do "whatever" with your hair (I know stylists typically think I am a pain when requesting non specific things like that, but I do it to test them). I am lucky to have found someone who can deal!
One last thing. I know, $60.00 is not a lot for a haircut. After all, some people pay $100s for haircuts. But I was a little unsure why I was charged $60 when the scale is $45-60, and I have short hair. Could have said something. But I'm kind of shy about being cheap.

Tsunami Sushi Bar

We waited at the 821 bar around the corner for an hour and a half and by the time our delayed table was ready we were under the influence of multiple luxury mojitos. I might also add this was my first time with this restaurant group, and I was excited about this new experience.
Oh my goodness. At first, I was thinking the hostess was somewhat rude, but she quickly turned sympathetic and offered us free apps after our reservation time was being pushed later and later (we were 7 and waiting for other tables to finish) and once we were finally seated, we had traditional salted and steamed edamame and lots of delicious fried things (shitake, sweet potatoes, shrimps, etc) with spicy and creamy dipping sauces, accompanied by this retarded magnum-like bottle of sake.
Next came the Toro-fest. Respect! Amazingly smooth and creamy oceanic perfection! And G-something rolls and i'm not even sure what else but it was all equally orgasmic. Many sashimis later, we were full to the gills (and also beginning to wonder what the damage was:)
It was very helpful that our friend Alex knew the menu so well he basically ordered everything for us. And at the end of it all, the absolutely decadent meal cost us about $60 per person, and we ate and were treated like kings. Not a bad thing, as thankfully, we are all employed and worked hard to earn this meal. Jah bless.
My point being, there has to be a place that serves the same kind of food in a similar way, but that uses higher quality ingredients and is tidier.
Nonetheless, the food does taste good (meat grease is most likely the reason for that) and you will leave satiated. People also talk about the sauce. The one that is worth mentioning is made of salt and oil. So simple, yet paired with meat and veggies, divine.

Pizzeria Uno
Category: Pizza
Neighborhood: Near North Side
I grew up in Chicagoland, and like a religion, I was taught that Uno's was number one - no pun intended - and I still believe it is. If you find yourself in Chicago, you have to eat here at least once. It's like going to a pizza museum. Hey thats a great idea...Pizza museum ;)
Butter crust. Etc. Yum.
Here's why.
The place. I love the metal/hardcore scene paired with food. I think it's hilarious. Angry music and food (especially meat) just go so well together. I must mention a restaurant/bar in Paris that I adore called Black Dog - http://www.blackdog-ba.../ - there, they actually do an even better job of pulling off the metal theme, because the restaurant is practically in a dungeon. They also have a meat centric menu and also coffin and death themed desserts...It's FABULOUS! Need I say more? Slayer rocks. Kumas, you do too.
Now, the most important part - the food. The burger I got kicked so much ass. My ass. In case you are interested. See, I asked the waitress what was the spiciest burger on the menu and she suggested 'the Plague' so that's what I got. I had a cold that day and I could not taste anything, so i needed something with a punch. With that said, this burger blasted me off to another sensory dimension triggered by jalopenos and chili sauce. The miraculous part was that i felt great after eating it. The heat cleared my nose and my stomach actually responded with ease and thanked me for filling it with such delicious meat and cheese and bread -fyi - the buns they use are pretzel...I'm not exactly sure...however, they are contenders for the best burger buns I have ever had!
All that said, I was happy to have gone to Kumas, but I must say that it was quite a disappointment when I was told we would have to wait 2-3 hours to be seated. I nearly left. If it were not for the tenacity of my friend (Thanks Agnes!) and the fact that a big table before us did not show up, we were seated within 30 minutes. Worth the wait, but still, 2-3 hours is heinous. Also, the burgers do take a while to cook. So, you might find your self getting a little kranky in anticipation.

1) The fillet mignon and broccoli dish, which the waitress will always recommend. It's bomb-dig.
2) The garlic noodle in clay pot - which is a side dish.
3) The asparagus soup and maybe the lemongrass chicken.
Although I think this place is decent, we all agreed it was a little 'gringo-ish and not really all that authentic.
Three things I will not come here for:
1) Table wine.
2) Table wine
3) Table wine (long story)

All that said, this place is known for seafood, and the seafood is great - one of us had the crab cakes and also the dinner salad - and the crab in the salad was so good I can almost say it was not from a can. But, do not discount that they do most everything well. The service is top notch - entertaining, expeditious, and attentive. Warm fresh bread, which is, no joke, almost worth going there for.
Delicious home-made soups and a New York strip steak that will surely satisfy even the frequenters and followers of Morton$-esque steak joints.
We did not have to wait long and we opened a bottle of wine at the bar to start - it was an all around success. I also love the old school vibe - and even more so the 'factoid that this is the oldest restaurant west of the Mississippi.

Everything was delicious. it was busy but the service was still attentive. This place is going to blow up. And that's a good thing. ALL restaurants should strive to be this ethical and of course, sustainable.
Happy hour is a steal.
