La Bodeguita Del Medio

We just started touring California Ave recently and tried Bodeguita for the first time.  Not disappointed.  I had the Tierra Y Mar and the wife had some pork thing.  Both were very well done and I'd definitely have them again.

The place is super crowded, and we ended up sitting in the bar area.  Service was fun and attentive.  We'll definitely come back.

These guys are incredible.  They offer free design services which was a big selling point for us.  We were able to provide lots of our own input and went through a few design changes before even breaking ground and we didn't have to pay a cent .

They stay on schedule and on budget.  There are no surprises and any changes or things they see that may affect the budget that notify you before taking action.

Additionally, their maintenance program at West Bay is both cheaper than and better than expected.  They communicate very well, and set all the sprinklers and lighting better than my previous landscaper..

One last thing on price, West Bay gives you a lot for the price.  Plus, we had a few jobs they subbed out (new fence and tree removal) that they said we could find our own if we wanted.  We called around and got quotes, and West Bay's sub-contractors were always cheaper.

Kevin and his guys are incredible to work with.  An extremely pleasant experience.  All our neighbors walk buy and always stop us if they see us to tell us how great the yard is.

Highly highly highly recommend them.

The sandwiches are awesome.  I'm a big fan of the liverwurst and the sausages.  This is my go-to big, meat sandwich shop and it should be yours too.

I heart Dittmer's.  That's really all there is to say.

I've been working with Craig for over a year now and have seen a massive improvement in my overall fitness.

I used to have achy knees and they're now gone.  That bum shoulder, feeling great.  I couldn't be happier working with Craig weekly.  He's a joy to train with and always pushes you to improve.  Craig has an outstanding knowledge of the human body and how to improve it or rehab it for your sport and/or goals and I recommend him to anybody who's in the Bay Area looking for a trainer.

It's all about where this place is.  It's a great place to just sit and people watch if the weather is nice.  My guess is if it wasn't at the Ferry building, there's no way they'd get by in the city at these prices.

The food is ok to be honest.  I had an omelette with chorizo.  Lots of egg, not so much chorizo, and not much flavor.  The fries were good, but you can get good fries pretty much anywhere these days.  Wife had the deviled eggs with crab.  Pretty good, but nothing spectacular and nothing all that special.

Good thing is that you do't have to wait and location.  That's pretty much it.  There are so many other places to eat, even in the Ferry building.

Came here for dinner this past Saturday with some old friends, one who was visiting from LA.

My initial impression was pretty good.  There was a good vibe going, and the staff was pretty nice.  But then I found out they screwed up the reservation.  Wrong time, wrong amount of people.  Not a huge deal, b/c they just fixed it.  By fixing it, it's just crossing out the time and number, which looking back isn't fixing anything.  Reservations don't seem to mean anything here.  There were 3 groups including ours that had to wait over an hour after the reservation time.

Anyways, on to the food.  The ceviche and empanadas are money.  Must haves.  They are absolutely incredible.  A little expensive for what you get, but not outrageously so.  For entrees, we had pork chops, chicken, and a red snapper dish.  All of them were very well done and well presented.  However, the pork chops and chicken were dishes I could have easily done at home.  When I go out, it's nice to have things that I can't throw together in my own kitchen.

For Limon, that's the ceviche and empanada, and that's about it.

Great restaurant.  On its own, there isn't much in downtown Los Altos, but it's seemingly getting better, and Sumika is a classic example of this.

Great food, fun, although somewhat loud, atmosphere.  The service is really nice, and the prices are reasonable.  All in all, I love the yakitori and the sake.  A great selection with lots of different things to try.

Looks like I've found my yakitori place.

Nice little place.  Great ambiance, very casual.  I've never seen bruschetta as an entree, but I think I like it.

We tried the olive tapenade (not enough tapenade, not that great), the figs and proscuitto (our favorite), the salami and feta (not bad, nothing special), and  mushroom and corn (pretty good).  We also had a shrimp ceviche salad which was surprisingly good and a bit spicy.

The prices were right, the service was helpful, and the food was pretty good.  It's a great place for a casual get together and for a small meal that isn't hard on your wallet.  it's a bit far for us, but we'd definitely come back and try some different types.

Have we found our MV sushi haunt?  I hope so.  They're crazy packed for dinner, but we can always do takeout since we don't live that far away.

Good, fresh sushi at average sushi prices.  Depending on how hungry you are, you can spend anywhere from $15-$30pp for dinner.  All of the fish is top caliber, and they appear to have lots of daily specials.  We've only been there once, but so far, we're fans.

Decent portion sizes, friendly and helpful people working there.  Seriously, can't really complain about anything other than the crowds.

Not a bad place for sure.  Parking is typically easy to find if you know where to look.  They have plenty of seating, although they tend to get really busy on the weekends.

I'm actually not a huge fan of the scene/ambiance here.  Seems a bit made up to me, but it honestly isn't so overdone/strong that it detracts from the experience.  My preference is actually to sit further towards the back.

The food is pretty damn good I'd have to say.  Some of the rolls are so-so (the roll with lamb, and the roll with beef, I'm looking at you guys), but for the most part, you really can't go wrong with the food here.  It's generally pretty well done and we enjoy lots of different things on the menu.

The service isn't too bad.  They can be a bit slow, but are usually attentive to your needs and helpful.

We'd come back for sure.
