Okay, I will admit you are the first burger I have had since I was in Seattle last week. I was being unfair to you. I just was at skillet street side and had a burger so good it made me cry. It was an uphill battle for you right from the get-go. You didn't beat them, but I have been back twice this past week. It is one of the best burgers I have had in the Sacramento area. I am quality picky when it comes to ground beef. I want to know that the cow died happy. You have good beef and a chef who actually knows the difference between medium and medium-rare, impressive. After the first burger soaked through the bun making a juicy mess (my partner is fonder of this phenomenon than I) you pleasantly agreed to serve me my meat on the side so the bun was still firm when it all arrived. The first burger was the bacon cheese and i really liked it. The second was the standard burger and it was also quite good. The waitress also got bonus points for not putting a pickle on the plate when i asked for no pickles. Some places think that if you don't want it on your burger that you are missing out and try to make it up to you by drowning your french fries in pickle juice. No thanks, not for me. The beers are all not to my taste, but they have a healthy enough selection that there should be just about something for everyone. The table next to us was surprised to find out that they dont have a full bar but they are flanked by actual bars on both corners. I also love that they have street side seating. Sacramento is so pleasant outside on a summer night. We will go back, I am sure. I am quite pleased with everything we have encountered there thus far.

Though carnivorous, I don't like the thought of the construction of many a hot dog. I like that Cap Dawg offers a veggie dog. They are steamed however which makes them a bit soggy. Warm but squishy. They are always nice enough to fry or grill my dog when I request (you should have seen the expression for ordering a veggie dog wrapped in bacon then fried!) The veggie dog is more sweet than savory and you should take that in to consideration when constructing your masterpiece. If found that it didn't go as well as with the bacon wrapping as I had hoped but it is stellar with the cole slaw. The BLT version is also not bad because the bacon is crisper when not wrapped around said moist dog. I miss their 80cent pbr Mondays, but it looks like they have a bunch of other promotions going on which is a great incentive to try something new. Yep, we will be back.

The sweet potatoes came without salt crystals dotting the surface which gave me flavour concern. They were crispy and extremely flavorful with a firm but giving interior. I dont feel I could call them battered not just floured. It was just right and did a great job at complimenting the tuber. The flavour was so big them seemed to be at the height of sweetness.
The fish was two beautiful Tiffany's bracelet box sized light golden pieces of halibut. Their batter was delicate and the fish had a clear light taste. Some of the best I have had in a long time. It came with two accompaniments: a strong pleasant dill tarter sauce and a light orange/salmon sauce that gave us a bit to think about. The second sauce almost tasted like it had a light dash of beautifully roasted habaneros, but that wasn't spot on. We found out the roasted flavor was coming from roasted garlic in a light cream style aioli. A dash of hot sauce gave it it's hint of colour and spice.

Cannelés! I love these things and I have really gone out of my way to pick some up from Ken's. I adore these things. Yummy gooey drops of goodness! They have all of the exterior caramelized crunch one would want on the outside with the eggy goodness of a Neiman Marcus popover. It doesn't hurt that all of the ladies working there were as sweet as the Cannelés de Bordeaux.
