The family and I headed to the Sunday brunch at Salty's as we read countless raving reviews.  The price tag was a bit high, but we felt we needed to experience it at least once as it was tagged as one of the "best brunches in the country."

Perhaps all the hype set up the experience for failure, but overall I was just not impressed in the least bit.  I've been to my fair share of buffets, and you usually have to go into them knowing you are not going to get the highest quality foods, but a crap load of variety.  That was certainly the case here.  A+ for presentation, but C- for the actual food.  The view is amazing, and the actual food looks great, but nothing really tasted all that great.  For the price I expected a bit more, but everything tasted fairly bland, and boring.  Some of the meats were decent, and the desserts were OK.  Omelet station looked promising, but not very good at all, not surprising since I don't think it was real eggs.

Service was so so.  Took a very long time to get drinks and refills.  It's very crowded during the brunch, so even a reservation will keep you waiting a bit.

We will definitely not be back, especially considering it's $16 bucks just for the kids, and they probably eat nowhere near that.  Simply not worth it nor a return visit.

Now this is a unique place to get a bite to eat.  Not your typical atmosphere or entree style restaurant.  Early 1900's decor, along with the staff dressed up as such.  Very cool and different.  Food is served as small plates that you can share so you can get a taste of a few different things.  Overall the food is pretty good.  Not the best you'll ever have, but tasty nonetheless.  The dips are a must try as they were our fave hands down.  We also got the fried green beans which were tasty, sausage and peppers which were OK, a little overcooked, and the chocolate fondue which was very good.

Priced very good overall.  Only spent about $50 for myself and wife for a well fed meal with beverages.  The only downside I would say is that the service is a bit sketchy.  8pm reservation and we weren't seated till 8:20 or so.  Our server was friendly, but often disappeared, and our desert took almost 30 minutes with no explanation.

Overall though a definite restaurant to add to the list if you are in the area.

The perfect place for breakfast or lunch when you want really good food, relatively inexpensively, and you want to get in and out.

Not too fancy, and not too much a dive.  Right in the sweet spot.  They have a very large delicious menu to choose from.  Service was quick.  When we visit Lake Geneva, this will definitely be a must go to for one of our breakfasts or lunches.

Loved the homemade strawberry lemonade, a must.  Banana French Toast was delish as well.  Paired it with scrambled and sausage (which was great...links without the skin).  Also be sure to try their seasoned potatoes.  Not just a hash brown throw in like most places.  I could have eaten just a plate of that.

The wife and I needed a quick getaway minus kids in the Chicagoland area, but wanted something away from the world a bit.  I was able to stumble across Seven Oaks and I'm glad I did.  Fantastic getaway place when you don't want to be bothered.

The quality of the cabins are top notch.  Very classy, and well kept.  The bathroom is phenomenal.  Big whirlpool tub, awesome triple head shower, heated floors and towels.  Big king sized comfortable bed.  No TV in the bedroom, so plan on other activities. :-)

The living area is perfect and comfortable with flat screen TV and DVD player.  Small kitchenette is sufficient, and the little extras like the wine, cheese and beverages was a nice touch.  So was the delivered continental breakfast.  A little lacking in variety, but free is free.  Free WIFI too that is very speedy.

Great location within waking distance to downtown Lake Geneva.  The service was fantastic, great recommendations, friendly and available.  Crazy good DVD collection too.

Priced really well for what you get.  If you're looking for a romantic getaway near town, you can't beat this.

I was in town for a conference and luckily for me choose Denise for a relaxing massage.  I've gotten enough to be able to tell the difference between someone who does massage as a job, and one who truly sees it as a craft, and Denise is definitely that.  One of the best massages I've had.

Can't say much about how good the location is since I'm not from San Fran, but from what I can tell, I think it's pretty solid as it's right in the shopping district and across from the mall.

You would never guess the location was a place to get a massage, but don't let that throw you off.  The room is comfortable, and Denise has a great laid back approach.

I concur with the other reviews about how she does a great job of mixing up different techniques.  I felt more relaxed after then I do after most massages I've had.

All in all, highly recommended and you can't go wrong.  I'll definitely use her again when I'm in town.

So when you go to the Tulalip Casino, you pretty much have 3 options for a decent meal, Tulalip Bay, Eagles Buffet and Blackfish.  We weren't in the Buffet mood, and Tulalip Bay seemed a bit pricey for a restaurant that far north of Seattle, so we decided to give Blackfish a try.

They don't have the prices on their menu, so I had to go by the Yelp reviews, but at $$, I figured it wouldn't be too bad.  I would actually say that Blackfish comes in at more like a $$$.  A meal for two after it was all said and done was over $100, and while I don't mind paying that much for a meal every once in awhile, Blackfish was not anywhere near good enough to warrant their prices.

The decor and vibe was fairly casual.  Nothing too amazing.  Kind of cool that the kitchen was visible and you could watch them prepare, but nothing that memorable.  Service was so so at best.  Our server checked in with us the bare minimum.

Let's start with what I liked.  They serve you a nice presentation of flatbreads with some flavored butters.  This was actually my favorite part of the meal unfortunately.  My wife and I ordered the halibut, which was paired with 2 choice of sides.  I went with both potato sides, while the wife went with veggies.

Bottom line is, the food was about as average as average gets.  It wasn't bad, but it was NOT NOT NOT $$$ good.  The fish wasn't any better then what you could get at a Safeway and prepare at home, and the sides were very bland as well.

If we paid half as much, I might re-visit, but there is just no way this restaurant is worth the price.  We will not be returning and in the future will probably just settle for the buffet.

Sal's Italian Kitchen

A nice little Italian restaurant with convenient parking.  Was close to our hotel stay, so we decided to give it a try.  Owner was friendly and allowed us to choose our own seating.  Somewhat kid friendly as they had a kids menu and the typical coloring gear to keep them busy.

Somewhat small so not great for larger groups, but it's got a nice vibe.  The real deal is the food though.  I ordered the chicken fettuccine and it was amazing.  One of the best I've had.  Wife ordered the potato gnocchi, and she was very impressed as well.  Bread was also very good.  Kids portions were a little smaller then we would have liked as our older son plowed through his easily and wanted more.

Prices are very reasonable.  If this were near our home base, it would definitely be a regular visit for us.  The food is just simply very delicious and priced well.  If you're looking for a tasty Italian meal that is affordble, you can't go wrong here.

Laughing Ladies Bakery & Cafe - CLOSED

Visited with the family for the first time, and not very impressed.  Like the first reviewer mentions, HUGE potential just based on the fact of where they are located, but I feel they missed the boat.

1. Ambiance - What a mess.  There's no consistency or rationale for how things were put together.  Not comfortable at all.  Really needs some comfortable furniture to encourage customers to want to hang out, stay for a bit.

2. Food - The bakery items did not look appealing at all.  We opted to try lunch.  Bread was awful, but the meats, veggies, cheese was pretty good.  Soup was so so.  Bottom line, not worth a 2nd visit for lunch.  Wife has had coffee there and wasn't all that impressed either.

3. Prices - Average.  Nothing to complain about.  Pretty in line with competition.

Overall I just think they are trying to be too many things at once and that could end up hurting them.  Repeat business is going to be a challenge from them outside the regulars who just love the location.
