I haven't reviewed on yelp for a couple of years now, this restaurant made me write reviews again. The service was so awful, I was outraged. Basically putting your name down on the waiting list means nothing. If you wanna get a table, you have to have a big group or know the hostess. I guess they have high rating that they don't need to worry about their business. I am definitely not gonna tolerate the horrible services.

Canlis used to be a treat. Every time I go to Seattle, I make a trip to Canlis because I always remember the first meal I had there four years ago. The Nori Crusted Ahi Tuna (tuna wrapped in bacon) was mind-blowing, the view was drop-dead gorgeous, and the service was impeccable. Over the years, the view and the service are consistently amazing, but the food itself has become somewhere disappointing. Last time we had Parsnip Soup(bland and weird tasting), Yellow Fin Tuna (overly salted), Berkshire Pork(best pork belly I ever had partly  because it looked so gross, like a block of fat, it tasted light but rich in flavor), and Colorado Lamb(unfortunately the couscous is the star of the dish, not the lamb).

My first meal was $74 per person, and we were like "wow, was that it?" We wouldn't mind paying more for it. The price has definitely gone up, but not the taste of the food. I am all about trying out new flavors and experimenting, but if the food end up tasting mediocre, it's nothing other than being pretentious. Nori Crusted Ahi Tuna only had two main ingredients, but they compliment each other so well. It was simply, elegant, and delicious.

I feel awful writing this review since our last meal was complimentary.  We didn't actually mind waiting for our food. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy our food. The piano right behind our table was quite loud, the tables around us were really loud as well.

Not sure if I would go back for another meal... and that makes me really sad.

Skip the menu; get Joojeh Kabab!

We brought in a cake, and they served us clean plates and forks without charging a fee. We tipped extra because they are so nice :)

Very French.

wine, cheese, oil, chocolate... are they any cheaper than retail stores? Some are, most products aren't.

They do have many baking supplies: almond paste, candied fruit, chocolate chips, fondant, jams, extracts, nuts... all in bulk. Unless you are some serious baker, you probably don't wanna end up with lifetime of supplies.

There are also various pastry decoration products, mixes. pre-made stuff.  I almost had my heart broken when I saw a box of 144 large Cannoli Shells for only $49.60. Just the other day, I was trying to make 12 of them which took me almost 3 hrs...

Unbelievable.

If I lived in Boston, I would have the three course prix fixe at L'Espalier for lunch every weekday. But since I don't, I can only yelp about it and think about it everyday...

I had a sticky bun. It wasn't sticky; it was dry(both the goo and the dough). And I still can't get over the fact that there were flies flying around with many pastries uncovered...Sigh

I got cold feet when I thought about shopping at Union Square. A bag of Teuscher's Chocolate helped me through the day. It made me forgot about the agonies of driving and parking, waiting in line, and changing and fitting. It kept me going; it kept me strong...

Teuscher Chocolate, the ultimate shopping companion.

One of the few places in Napa that offers Riesling(not saying they are any good:). The $5 "sweet wine" tasting definitely made my day. The staff kept on pouring, and we totally indulged ourselves.

It's a BBQ day at the picnic area. Everything we had: Tri Tip sandwich, BBQ Ribs, and Italian Sausage, is amazing. Juicy, fresh, and flavorful!

The winery is too packed to get around easily, but when it's good, it's all worth it!

Absolutely fabulous winery! Small but elegant.

We didn't make a reservation, so we couldn't do the guided tour or try the full tasting menu. The staff didn't turn us down. Instead, he poured everyone a glass of chardonnay free of charge and sent us on our way to a self-guided tour. We got to walk around the garden, checked out the storage area and the barn. Since there weren't that many ppl around, we had the entire place all to ourselves.

Way to do business!!!
