Picture this - in comes two rowdy kids and a couple of overheated parents and everything *could've* gone badly. But they didn't. Our waitress (7 mos. preggers!) could've been surly, but she was very helpful and friendly. The hostess brought out a couple of table toys (Barbie laptop, Etch-A-Sketch) to entertain our kids - it worked. My wife had to order from the gluten free menu, and there was no fuss at all from the waitress. She gave us time to order, they brought us bread at the table when we asked (for the kids) and didn't charge us.
My wife order the salad which was huge and we split it deliciously. My ravioli with gorgonzola was excellent, the kids' Margherita pizza was yummy (though they didn't really like the tomatoes on top) , and my wife's gluten-free eggplant meal was great.
Sure the bill topped $60, and I tipped her nicely, so I wouldn't make this an every weekend place, but it certainly fit the tab on Friday night.

One can be fussy about food items here and there, but really, there was absolutely nothing to quibble about last night. We ate from this menu:

From the excellent bruscetta to the awesome bolognese and onward to canneloni dessert, everything was delicious and flavorful. I would heartily recommend a dinner experience at Un Bacio. Fantastico!

Anyway, in our quest to be gluten free, we've shopped a bunch at Sunflower lately. Wow. I love this store. i feel healthy walking into it! Just last week, we got all our gluten free products for 30% off during the store's one-day sale. Is that cool or what?
I'm slowly foregoing the Frys/Albertson's of the world in favor of Sunflower. See me slim down. Maybe. :-)

"Does Gabi deliver or what! When I reviewed a previous event I said it would take a chocolate fountain to top the event. Hello!!! I dipped my slice of Mamma Mia pizza in a freaking chocolate fountain tonight! While a live band was playing! Hello!!!! And Sweet Republic was there! Hellllooooo!!! What other foodie social networking site treats members like rock stars!!!"
Yes, Amen. Fun night, good music and Yelpicity abounding!

The counter guys even had little airplanes for my kids to play with while we waited for our order. We sat on the back porch out of the sun and had a great lunch. Will visit again when I'm around.

Service started a bit slow, but waters and drinks came around and then our family medium crust pie later - I loved it, wife said Yeah! and the kids were quiet, glued to video clips and my son ate a bunch of Crust pizza.
The Rustica thin crust pizza seemed to be the Crust calling card, so we;ll have to try those next time too. Well done! And we didn't even try any wine! But next time we're in the hood, we will.
The cafeteria style ordering works for busy families too. Beer & wine available too.

But last Friday, during a long chat with a pal, the Desert Ridge associate Dillon was awesome during our visit - he offered us coffee and tea refills, and brought us back each in new cups - very unexpected and very welcome (we were in a long work discussion). Kudos to him for friendliness and service! Highly recommended.
One drawback? The room has only 1 (maybe 2?) outlets to plug in laptop work. But then again, it's a cafe, not Gangplank, right? :-)
