If you're 23 and looking to go clubbing, you would hate this place.

If you are around the age of 30, looking for a place to listen to solid music and have a few pints with friends after work? This is probably the place for you. It's huge. There's a lot of seating on the first and second floor, and there's a bar on both floors.

I wish I had discovered this place before.  There are flat screen TVs all over the place, so watching the game isn't a problem either.  When I was here last, a few TVs had ESPN on, and a few others had "The Scariest Movies Of The Last 10 Years" on Spike. I'm not sure if I agree with Spike's choice of 'The Ring' as the scariest movie of the last decade, but it created a discussion at the bar about the merits of various horror movies.

A solid mid-town option, that I will definitely return to.

There's not a lot to this mall, which is surprising when you consider that it opens to Herald Square.  It's a main thoroughfare for folks going to/from work via the subway, and it's lined with a ton of stores that are a bit nondescript. I've bought a few things here, and the JC Penney in the basement is probably your best bet for shopping.

There's a bathroom on the third floor and in the JC Penney's, in case you're ever in the need!

Showplace Antique Center

How much would a gigantic glass cowboy hat cost? How much would a uncredited framed photo from 1950s NYC cost? How much would 2 old-looking, crusty turtle character salt & pepper shakers cost? How much would a 1970's couch cost? How much would your old grandma's jewelry cost? How much would a rusty knife cost? What if the rusty knife had a matching rusty fork?

You can find all of these things and thousands more at the 4 level Showplace. It's a fantastic place to wander around. It's amazing, because you probably can't afford any of it. The gigantic glass cowboy hat is on the top floor, sitting on a table. I think it's selling for $300.

It seems like the perfect place for film studios to stop by and pick up a ton of trinkets for background placement.

There's also a bathroom on the top floor, which is great if you're in the area! Closes at 6, so it's not an all-night option.

I haven't been here on a night with football, but I've been able to enjoy a pint while watching PTI on loop. My only gripe is the $6 Guinness in Williamsburg. Maybe it's because nobody in Williamsburg drinks Guinness? I'm not sure..but that's a midtown price for a hipster hood. I'll probably drop in here again, and I'll give the wings a whirl while I'm at it. However, the prices may push me out the door early, in search of the cheap  brews.

Elite Event at Banter Brooklyn

One of my New Years Resolutions was to venture in the far reaches of Brooklyn whenever a Yelp event was taking place. I succeeded, as Williamsburg is the definition of Far Reaches compared to my neighborhood of Bensonhurst.

As always, Yelp kicked butt, Peter D rocked the place, and new elite yelpers were all over the place. It was awesome. The Winter Session was delicious!

Burger King

The Burger King itself:
Typical BK food. Hotter than normal because they are wicked busy.

Navigating the Burger King Bus Terminal:
1. Are you in the back of the bus? Did it pull into BK with other buses? Use the bathroom on the bus, it's probably cleaner, and there won't be a line.
2. If you are sitting near the front, and there are no other buses, now is your chance to get first dibs on either food or the bathroom. Choose wisely, because you'll wait for the other.
3. Look at the your bus #. Chances are there are more than 1 Lucky Star bus, more than 1 Bolt Bus, and you DON'T want to end up going back to the city you just left while your stuff heads to your destination.
4. If you smoke pot in the parking lot, chew some gum before you get back on the bus. It's wicked annoying to smell you, stoner!
5. If it's nice out, get off the bus to stretch your legs. You might even be tempted to buy the local CT paper out of the newspaper box!
6. If you're in the back of the bus, don't stand up immediately when the bus stops and try to climb over people. Let people get off before you, it's only right.
7. If you're in the back of the bus and there are multiple buses, venture across the street for food & the bathroom. It'll take less time than waiting at BK. Much cleaner bathrooms, too.
8. Take a look at your bus driver, and remember what they look like. Sometimes they'll go into BK looking for you if it's not a full bus. Don't get left behind.
9. The BK bathrooms might be the nastiest around. Then again, what can you expect with 1 urinal and 1 toilet in the men's room that services roughly 100 people an hour at its peak.

I can't believe I rattled off 9 things so easily! Print it out and use as a reference for future trips.

High Dive

Category: Dive Bars
Neighborhood: Park Slope

Normally I'd be a little skeptical of a bar with 'Dive' in the name. I think dive bars are titles to be earned, not proclaimed.

That being said, I think High Dive is a perfect name. There's not much to it inside, a long narrow bar with stools at the bar and along the wall. Tables in back. Several nice beers on tap and several easy drinking beers on tap too. It's the kind of place you have a pint or 3 and hang out. There are a few TVs, but I think when I was there they were both on ESPN News, which is the equivalent to conversation filler during a lull.

I'm a big fan of bars with buy backs, and this place has that, so I'll definitely come back here again.

Waldbaums Supermarket

I live the same distance from Waldbaums and another grocery store, and they both have their perks.

Waldbaums generally has more selection for everything except produce, so it's a solid option in that regard.

It seems to always be crazy busy, which is one reason I tend to stay away on Sundays.

If it's after 9PM, you need to go in the exit door, because they lock the entrance. Why? I'm not sure, since they're open until 10 or later. It seems that everybody that goes here knows it, but in case you just moved here...then there ya go!

It seems like ice cream is -always- 2 for $5!

Stone Rose Lounge

$9 beers will encourage you to buy the $14 mix drink, and then you'll be pissed when it's not $14 strength.

This is the kind of place I avoid whenever possible. I get it, though, as some folks like to go places for the vibe and upscale New York City experience. It's a solid option for those with a disposable income. If you have disposable income, add me and I will go to the Stone Rose Lounge and drink the Spicey Watermelon rum drink.

The Spicy Watermelon is hot. I'm not sure if they add peppers to the drink itself, but it is hot.

The DJ here is pretty damn good, so they do have that going for them. $9, though, for a domestic beer? C'mon, man!

Limelight Marketplace

What does a Church-turned-club-turned-marketplace look like? It looks like a K Mart in a church, minus the crowds, minus the discounted stuff, and minus the price tags(actual price tags. I didn't see any). Nor did I see many salespeople.

I was standing randomly on the second floor, when a guy directed me to his clothing section in the corner. He promptly disappeared. I walked around wondering what the place was like when it was a club. I determined it was probably more fun than a marketplace.

It seems like there are some interesting vendors here, but nothing that really suggests you can't find it anywhere else.
