Epic ramen!! I had the short rib ramen and hibiscus tea soda; he had the oxtail ramen with an extra egg on the side. We shared a side of corned beef. Everything was perfect!! *epic slow clap* The short rib was melt in  your mouth, and the noodles were cooked just right.

We hardly spoke during our meal, just uttered the occasional grunts of enjoyment. Even the hibiscus tea soda was ridiculously delicious.

Bonus points for the spectacular service at BreadBar. We will return before Ramen Bull ends!!

Four months after my original review - Miss Priss is still the best. Best cake. Best frosting. Great customer service.

Red velvet is still my favorite, but chocolate chip is a close second. The boyfriend goes crazy for chocolate mint. Last night my friends raved about the peanut butter and jelly. Tuxedo is always a crowd favorite, and everyone loves red velvet.

We've taken her cupcakes to parties and special occasions. They've always been a hit. Right after I write this update, I'm going to enjoy a red velvet. I've been saving one in the fridge, and it's all mine.

I split the remaining red velvet cupcake: half for him and half for me. The boyfriend went upstairs for a brief moment. When he came back, he saw my empty plate. "I thought you were going to have the other half?"

"I already did." Oops. I suppose I should have waited. All politeness went out the door as I inhaled that red velvet cupcake. At first, I thought Miss Priss' cupcakes didn't have enough frosting. I changed my mind after tasting the cake: fluffy, light, moist cake.

The chocolate cupcake with peanut butter was soft and delicious. So were the vanilla and the lemon mini-cupcakes. But it was the red velvet cupcake that stole my heart. I even ate the red velvet crumbs that fell on my shirt. It was that good.

Edit: I neglected to write down their business hours. All I know is that they close at 6pm on weekdays.

It's not just a retail space; it's also a mighty fine gallery that hosts awesome art shows on a monthly basis. What can you say about a shop that feels like a second home?

5 stars for Eric, Martin, Michelle, and the GR crew.

Get your cute on at Q Pop Shop in Little Tokyo. Just look for the red shop right across from the Weller Court Plaza. The first thing I noticed was the amazing wall art by Kevin Dart. (I'm kicking myself for not noticing the mural on the outside wall.) The second thing I noticed was their awesome selection of t-shirts. They have tons of other cool items like toys, blind boxes, and accessories.

Q Pop also functions as a gallery space. Currently they're showing their "What is Q?" group exhibition which runs until February 11. The owners are super nice and made us feel totally welcome. I'm looking forward to my next visit so I can spend more money on stuff I don't need. Yay!

Mama Fina Dominican Restaurant

Normally I don't fall in love at first bite. It takes me a while to decide whether a restaurant is worthy of being a favorite. After two visits, I've decided that Mama Fina is one of my favorite restaurants ever.

I don't know anything about Puerto Rican food or Dominican food. I do know about great comfort food, and Mama Fina serves the best. When you walk into Mama Fina's, it's like you've been invited to eat at her home. The vibe is so comfortable, and the food, oh, the food!!, is some of the best I've ever had.

I don't know how she prepares her moro (rice and beans) but I know I've been dreaming about it. If you're debating whether to get white rice or moro, always go with the moro! Mama Fina's roast pork is divine, and her oxtail is worth making the trip on a Saturday. The mangu (mashed plaintains with some pickled onions) goes perfectly as a side with the oxtails.

Mama Fina is the perfect weekend restaurant. I'm so happy that my boyfriend found it.

I know cute, and Leanna Lin's Wonderland is wonderfully cute. Every neighborhood should have a shop like this one.

Leanna Lin's Wonderland is a jewelry shop, cute boutique, and gallery space rolled into one. You'll find handmade jewelry, Spicy Brown apparel, beads, and cute knickknacks.

Currently the gallery space is hosting The Lucky Show, featuring artwork by Spicy Brown artists Sachiho Hino and Kazuko Shinoka.

If you're in Eagle Rock, you have to stop by Leanna Lin's. Even if you're not near Eagle Rock, this place is worth the drive.

Yesterday my boyfriend said, "I found this cute store in Torrance. Do you want to go?" Does a baby bear poop in the woods?! I'm so there. When we walked into TAMAYA, we were surrounded by San-X products. According to my boyfriend, I squealed a little and said, "I'm in heaven!"

TAMAYA in Torrance is an authorized retailer of San-X products from Japan. Sanrio was my first love, but San-X is my new love. Rilakkuma is pretty easy to find in kawaii shops, but I haven't seen the other San-X characters too often.

Right now my favorite character is Kireizukin Seikatsu, the raccoon. TAMAYA has quite a few Kireizukin products, and I was in heaven.

If you're in the South Bay, go visit! The store owner is super nice, and they have a monthly quiz that you can fill out. They pick out winners from those who answer the quiz correctly and hand out cool prizes. If you're not in the area, you can buy online from TAMAYA's ebay shop. The link is on their website. Visit TAMAYA's Facebook page for pictures of their latest inventory (http://www.facebook.co...).

Julienne

I really have no business reviewing a restaurant in Santa Barbara. We rarely visit SB except for special occasions. This past weekend we made the trip for a weekend getaway combined with the Atoms for Peace concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. We didn't know a thing about Julienne, but decided to take a chance anyway.

Even though we've only been here once, I have to give them 5 stars. The reasons:

- Best pork belly I've ever had: crispy on the outside and fatty and juicy on the inside. I know that sounds very cliche; words cannot capture the perfection of this dish. The accompanying apple/fennel slaw went well with it, but the pork belly didn't really need anything else. I am still dreaming about their crispy pork belly.

- Charcuterie plate. They make their own mortadella. Are you kidding me? The plate also had a pate (blanking on the description) and pork rilette, along with perfectly grilled bread.

- Lamb sandwich appetizer with fried mayonnaise. Yes, ponder that for a moment. Yes, it was as delicious as it sounds.

- Olive oil cake. We asked the server what it was, and her description was so enticing we had to try it. It was moist with an unusual crust that went perfectly with the marscapone and blueberry compote.

- Service. When we told the server how much we loved the cake, Chef Justin gave us the recipe! Not only did he write it down on a piece of paper, he also shared a few tips. He is passionate about food, and it shows in his menu.

Julienne is high-end dining in a cozy environment. If you were just driving by, you would think the place is a nice little cafe. We were really impressed by our first visit. Hopefully we will find another reason to visit Santa Barbara in the future. (Maybe Radiohead will return to the SB Bowl next year?!)

Starry Kitchen

Category: Asian Fusion
Neighborhood: Downtown

I come to Starry Kitchen for that elusive magical bite. The magical bite - a phrase I'm borrowing from my boyfriend - can be hard to find, even in the best restaurants.

Today I had it with something simple as a Thai Cobb salad, with a piece of tender chicken that had a little extra lemongrass than the other chicken pieces. Combine that with egg, bacon, avocado and that's it.

Yesterday that magical bite came in a wrap with coconut pork, egg, and mild jalapenos. The week before that, it was in a sandwich with crispy tofu balls. I only had the chance to try the tofu balls once but they promise they'll rotate it back into the menu.

Their food is nothing fancy and they're the first to say that. It's just good food with high quality ingredients. I can be a snob about Asian food and usually I do prefer authenticity. But, as long as that magical bite is there, who cares?

And I'm not just saying that because Nguyen and Thi are cool kids. I mean, they are cool kids but that's just a nice bonus. I'm here for the food!

Dogtown Dogs

The food trucks have descended on downtown LA, specifically on 3rd and Grand. I tend to stay away from the Asian fusion trucks; they're just not my thing. After 3 consecutive lunches from Dogtown, I give them 4 solid stars.

Trailer Trash = chili, nacho cheese, and Fritos. This one is so wrong it's right. Best eaten with a fork unless you want a lap full of chili.

California Dog = avocado, arugula, tomatoes, fried onions, basil aioli. I don't remember seeing any arugula on mine but that's fine. Sounds like a weird combo but the flavors work.

Dogtown Dog = fennel slaw, dijon mustard, roasted red peppers. This was my least favorite. By the time I got back in the office, the bun had fallen apart completely from the fennel slaw. But what remained tasted good.

Tater tots with nacho cheese. Need I say more?

I know people make a big deal about whether a dog snaps or not. I'm not from Chicago so I'm not particular about the anatomy of a hot dog. I just like stuff that tastes good. Dogtown Dogs provides a tasty lunch at a reasonable price with good service. $5-6 for a dog is not too bad. However, $2 for a can soda is pretty crazy. That would be my only complaint.
