a drive through slo downtown...search for tsurugi, but not finding...parked and walking inside hidden cluster of businesses...shops, restaurants and art...no luck and deciding goshi...realizing highly rated tsurugi closed and goshi the replacement....finding large variety in americanized menu...rolls, teriyaki, salads, rice bowls, combinations, sushi, etc....sushi and sashimi on mind...order for $sixty sushi dinner for two...twelve sushi, ten sashimi, two choice rolls, edamame, tempura basket, miso soup (or clear soup) and ice-cream....a complete filling dinner....served on an enormous wooden boat....the novelty!....but, attentive service and tea refilling the only positive....tempura battering quite thick, but acceptable....finding rest a failure....mix of fish variety...some freshness questionable on subpar fish...other pieces fine....poor quility rice used....washing down with hot sake and not caring too much....not expecting much from slo sushi dining....

order of #1 pho and shrimp fried rice to share for two....kimchi side and platter of vegetables for pho given first....cleanest and freshest...of sprouts, jalepeno slicings, mint leaves, cilantro and wedge of lime....pho decent sizing and served hot....clean non-greasy broth....but, lacking flavor...noodles perfect with white onion slicings....but, bit sparse in tendon and tripe pieces...msg not detected in broth...maybe explains lack of flavor....shrimp fried rice a mistake...mix of frozen carrot cubes and peas stir-fried in rice and decent seasoned shrimp, but finding to be one of worst fried rice had....$fourteen exact for pho and fried rice....$sixteen total after $two tip for decent friendly continuous water filling service....
