I have been lucky enough to visit Lowell's for lunch twice recently. I highly recommend going to the second floor where you're waited on and can order from the menu. Try to get a window seat so you can enjoy the views.

The seafood very fresh and their menu is mainly from local vendors.

This is a fun place to take friends who are visiting Seattle.

just happened to stop by to pick up some wild mushrooms for a brie dish I was making. The staff was super helpful with their suggestions - even showed me how to to slice some of the more exotic mushrooms.

They did talk me into trying fresh porchini's (pricey) advising me to enjoy them on their own - not to add or serve them with my brie appetizer. And talked into trying morrels at a later date (since I splurged on the porchini).

Of course, you never leave with just what you intended to purchase - the pears are out of this world!

Meander's Kitchen

Breakfast is probably one of my three favorite meals.. and Meander's has it nailed! In fact, breakfast is the only meal they serve.

I had a potato scramble with bacon and cheese and it was perfect - sounds too simple here - you'll just have to trust me. My hubby enjoyed the mmmmm waffles - I've never tasted waffles like that before.

I love the atmosphere - the staff is super friendly. The place is small - cozy. If you sit at the counter, you're pretty much sitting at the grill, which is cool too.

I can't wait to come back to have my step-son try the french toast (that's his fav).

Feedback Lounge

I'm amazed today was our first visit to Feedback. We stopped by for lunch and to check out the infamous cocktails. Hubby out-ordered me with his philly cheesesteak - it was great. I had a hamburger w/blue cheese which I was thinking was pretty darn plain (no tomatoes or other toppings - just a couple pickles)...I realized once I was pretty much done with my stark hamburger, that they forgot the grilled onions... I'm not dinging down my rating or stars...my bad for not catching it before my evidence (burger) was mostly gone. Sweet potato fries are great and I really love the St Basil - very refreshing! Hubby had a Sazerac that he enjoyed.

The bar is facinating - to see all the special concoctions they're brewing (stewing?) to create their great cocktails.

Lunch seemed a little slow to the table (place was not packed) - however, we weren't in a hurry. Our waitress was very friendly.

We'll be back!

Highstrike Grill

hubby and I stopped by for lunch here after reading all the great reviews - especially about their fries and potato chips...we were not disappointed.

He had a ginormous bacon cheeseburger with fries and I had the salmon BLT (which was actually just as tall as the burger) with potato chips. My sandwich was terrific and I loved the fresh, still warm, crunchy potato chips - seasoned perfectly.

We kind of flubbed up our drink orders, they had "bloody mary shrimp cocktail" and we both read the title and assumed it was the beverage with a nice jumbo shrimp slinging over the side and not "shrimp cocktail" = it was a spicy shrimp cocktail - very tasty, just not what we were expecting.

After lunch here, we were able to skip dinner! Prices were nice too.

We will be back!

The Whisky Bar

Arrived at noon today to try various Whiskys after reading Wine Spectator's latest issue which mentions this bar and features (of course) whiskey. I'm more of a wine drinker and typically not a fan of whiskey or scotch. Our bartender, Luke, was friendly, patient and shared his knowledge with us - helping us to determine our different preferences. I think I do...I do like Whiskey!

They have a great selection of various whiskey and scotch. It was a fun thing to do on a Saturday.

Next door is a restaurant where you can bring food over, Kabob. Hubby and I shared a hamburger (very average) and chicken quesadilla (better than the hamburger).

I would love to see this place have a few snacks tailored for whiskey - maybe a cheese platter, nuts, etc?

We'll be back!

this in amazing spot in West Seattle if you're a beer or cigar lover. Nowhere else (that I'm aware of) can you enjoy great beer on tap (and I'm typically not a beer drinker) and buy twinkies and tampons. It's a gourmet beer stand in a mini-mart. I kid you not.

The Ruins

We went to The Ruins for the first time last night with a group of friends for a pinot tasting along with dinner. We brought the wines for the blind tasting and paid corkage fees. Our friends, who are members, reserved "the chocolate room". The setting of The Ruins is amazing - you'd never guess inside that warehouse is several rooms decked out in creative, whimsical, classy settings. The service was very friendly and the food was exceptional too. I had beef tenderloin that was tender and cooked just as I requested. We sampled each others plates and everything was enjoyable

the ladies in our family stopped by for coffee drinks after new years and were pretty much ignored while the place was fairly empty. It took about 20 minutes for our order to be taken and another 30 - 40 for our coffee drinks to arrive.
