Oh red velvet cupcakes and sweet potato cheesecakes I want to marry you both and live happily ever after! After a lovely stroll down Auburn Avenue with my camera I finally found the home of the Sweet Potato Cheesecake that was featured on the Food Channel. The Sweet Auburn Bread Company is a precious little spot, with tasty treats. I already know what I will get next time- a caramel banana-nut muffin and a naked hummingbird muffin. So many tasty things to try- make sure you bring an empty stomach to be sure you can try them all.
Three strikes, Pozole you are OUT! Attempt number one we were seated right by the door , no bueno!!(brrrr and everyone crashing into you to get in and out of the restaurant), that night our server had a section too large for him to handle. He even came back to us to apologize for our order getting lost...umm no sir, you have failed to take it yet. You know you are in for a doozy when you have to order your drinks two at a time. Large guac and queso are a huge disappointment, I can give you a list of 10 places in this city that are better and bigger. Second attempt was meh, tacos were ok, but our waitress was scarce. Third attempt was St Patrick's day. Service was horrible from start to finish. The door host was a cranky troll, and our server had a serious attitude. It was only 6pm. My friends and I are all low maintenance- we wont ask for modifications to the menu,we say please and thank you and call you by your name, we leave when we are done and we tip very well- if you aren't nice to us, who are you nice to?

Sweet Auburn Curb Market

The lovely Melissa Libby has helped steer me to the REAL sweet potato cheesecake...it is down the street on Auburn at the Sweet Auburn Bread Company. Yum yum get you some!!

I like to think that I know a thing or two about cheesecake. I just wasnt that impressed with this infamous/famous sweet potato cheesecake. I thought that the Sweet Auburn Market was a bit dirty, I much prefer the Dekalb Farmers Market for its size and variety. I would have liked to try the vendors but couldnt get over the rundown look of the whole place. The free parking for an hour is a plus. I think this place is a landmark and a place everyone should visit at least once- check.

I was a bit nervous walking into this place for a bday party after reading the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised with the decor- I love brick and muted colors- I hope that was what it really looked like and it wasnt the jack daniels I had to drink prior. It is small and narrow, especially by the downstairs bar area. Saturday was a perfect night to take a stroll out on the patio, I would like to have drinks on the patio there again soon. I got to 255 after my pals had eaten, the reviews werent bad. Service was ok- cocktail waitress had a blank stare most of the time, bartenders were efficient. I will put this on the list to try again-

Highland Cigar Co.

I adore this place. I have never had to pick out my own cigar before so I was a bit nervous and felt like a child. The staff was super nice and walked me through the selections with the patience of a saint. I hadnt even considered that what I was about to drink could affect the taste of the cigar- silly me. The gal that took us in the cigar room and the bartender guy are masters of giving good service. There are plenty of seats and plush leather couches. They even have a couple outside tables if the smoke gets too heavy inside. Thank you Highland Cigar for a great drink and top notch service.

Everybody's Pizza

If I could get a huge vat of the house parm peppercorn dressing I would guzzle it in a snap. De-lish! The pizza sandwiches are so-so. The thin crust jerk chicken pizza is my favorite and even more tasty with a little of the house dressing. Salads are fresh and can be customized to include a slew of ingredients. They carry Chimay- go out and buy one today. The back patio is a lovely place to enjoy a casual dinner and drink. Staff is either efficient or snarky depending on what server you get.

It is so nice to get a refreshing beverage while I do my laundry next door. The coffee is always strong and fresh, and the service has always been super nice to me. I have had small snacks- scones, brownie and muffins. They were fresh and tasty. Connecting to the internet was a bit of a process, but with a little guidance from the staff I was up and running. Specials and events are worth checking out asap.

Swanky place in a central downtown location. The restaurant itself is sleek and trendy. The rooftop bar is touted as the hot spot on Wednesday nights- the view is wonderful on a clear night. The seating is limited by the bar, and cocktail service on the couches. Bar service is meh, I cant blame them for being fed up with the dress to impress but dont tip crowd. Valet parking is a nice touch if you dont feel like circling the place to find a parking spot. DJ plays a good mix of music that appeals to just about everyone there. Not a bad place

Leopard Lounge

Leopard Lounge doesnt pretend to be a flashy fancy poo place. It is what it is. The bartenders are efficient, Quincy or Q to his regulars, is a doll who makes a great drink with a smile. The DJ on the main floor plays some great tunes, with a small dance area in front of him. Lower level has a small sweaty dance floor and crowded bar. Only drawbacks are the limited parking areas and cover charge- still havent figured what it is for..... the crowd is generally pretty chill. Overall a good time, especially if you go with a few friends.
I wish I had the experience that Erin had- mine was no bueno! My co-workers and I decided to check them out last week. Shortly after noon we arrived, 6 of us, and were seated promptly. Our server was busy and apologized for not getting to us sooner. The whole lunch seemed to be in slow motion, and took almost an hour from start to finish. Pork sandwich was not the shredded or even chopped pork I am used to, instead it was huge hunks of meat that was sort of flabby. Sauce was ok, would have been nice to have more, but there was only hot sauce on the table Tea wasnt what I am used to in BBQ joints down here- this was weaker. Biscuits did make it to the table eventually- but somehow we only got 5 for a party of 6- is there a standard number or could it be at least one per person? Can you get more if you want?
Maybe things would be smoother there if they had more support staff to clean tables, refill drinks, etc?
