It took me a good 20 minutes to decide which version of benedict I wanted and/or if I wanted to go with one of their 100 different kinds of french toast. Excellent selection, including the drink menu.
The atmosphere was very eclectic with crazy decorations all over and the piano player played an assortment of pop culture and classic songs.
My advice: look at the menu in advance. They usually have a wait but they offer free coffee and mini muffins as well as comfy outdoor seating as a consolation prize.

Arriving at 12:15 and waiting 20 minutes left us in a crunch for the buffet but we definitely got our money's worth in the short 20 minutes we had available. I'm usually upset about waiting that long but I was so pleasantly surprised by the food that it was easily forgotten.
The buffet line consisted of migas, potatos, biscuits and gravy, grits, sausage and bacon, french toast, pancakes and fruit. Hands down the sweet potato pancakes were the best thing on the line and coming in second place were the biscuits. For $10.95 we filled our stomachs to the brim and we didn't even hit the omlette bar! I'm not usually a buffet kind of girl but this one was one for the books.
Sadly the gospel music was so far away that we couldn't hear it but it looked very gentle. Apparently it pays to be on time....next time.

I was just realizing that all of my reviews of restaurants are of their brunch. Brunchaholic you say? I would agree. Let's be honest though, EVERYONE loves brunch and I'm pretty sure everyone is always looking for a new place to go.
I highly recommend their eggs benedict. It is usually a staple of mine and they do it soooo right. The manager even came by and asked us how we were doing and told us about a few fun wine tasting events they were having. Nothing like good service to top off a great meal.
Another bonus - they have brunch SATURDAY and Sunday. If you've read my reviews before, you would know how precious Saturday brunch is, SO hard to find.

A) I'm not a huge jazz fan.
B) I can't stand creepy old guys (over 50!!) hitting on young ladies.
C) It was a Wednesday night.
I just felt like the crowd was pretty dismal with the exception of a few yelpers who trickled in after the elite event. The ping pong table would almost score them another star but it was a very sad example of one.
Creepy, PERSISTENT, old men, average drink prices and lackluster jazz tunes will probably keep me from revisiting anytime soon.

You know when you get all psyched to try out a new place and you just KNOW it is going to be fun because well, it is the East Side and we LOVE the East side. Then you show up and there is a circle of unfriendly hipsters on the patio and no music and you wonder why you just drove all the way to East 6th for this. This is when FML soaks in.
I will say the bartender was friendly and even amused us with a little Lone Star bottle cap pictionary but that is pretty much the only good thing I have to say about this bar.
A revisit is in order.

Makers Mark and Harpoon Brewery were awesome to sponsor the event and the drinks were delish. The photographer was hilarious and really fun to work with. She made me wish I had a photo company of my own. The Highball staff was just as accommodating as they are every time I visit, they never let me down!
Excellent job to everyone who had a hand in the event! Great night!

If you haven't ever listened to a record before, WAKE UP. They are still around for a reason. Everyone who works here is more than interesting to talk to and very knowledgeable. They've always had what I needed and also are a secret place to find sold out tickets when Waterloo is empty.
Keep the glory alive and stop by this South Austin gem.

Let's be honest, Truffle oil, black truffle aioli and BACON?!! Seriously?!! I brunch just about every weekend for my brunch blog and have considered revisiting this place more than once. No fried egg sandwich has topped theirs so far. Note: I never revisit brunch places. Ever.
The atmosphere was nice, efficient wait staff and swanky decor. My only complaint would be the drink prices. Most brunch places lure you in with either low food prices or low drink prices. Max's had neither. However, it is worth going just once to have this sandwich. Changed.my.life. (I feel like such a fat girl saying something like that, but it is soooo true.)

I was searching for the perfect Mad Men dress and felt like an alcoholic at a Liquor Store that was giving away free booze. They have so many options from every era and tons of accessories! It really is a gold mine if you love vintage clothing and don't mind paying the price for someone else to find it for you.
My only complaint was the clerk not being very friendly or helpful. Also, everything I picked up was $30 or more. If I hadn't been so desperate and out of time, I wouldn't have paid their prices. On the flip side, I think that they are very reasonably priced when compared to other vintage stores in town.
Special Tip: If you like to remake things/know how to sew, there is a secret room in the back called Cheap Cheap. It is technically its own store but it's a thriving seamstress' dream.

$1 MAKE YOU HOLLA.
Seriously? $1 mimosas and bellinis? Sure, I'll have 8.
Oh and it gets better. We walked in at prime brunch time and they seated us immediately. I felt like a celebrity. I know you are already sold but I'll continue to tell you that I tried two different dishes with truffle oil. I can't say this enough but I LOVE.TRUFFLE.OIL. Brunches that don't have it, what are you thinking?!!
Cheapest brunch drinks in town, greatest location, fantastical service and scrumptious food. sold, sold sold.
