Sad life story.

The new menu is really good and tasty, so that's cool. However, I ordered a hot tea which was exciting because I don't drink coffee.

Then I got the bill and I paid 3 bucks for a twin innings and some hot tea.
...
wait for real?
FOR REAL

Also, some of the people haven't been very kind while we are there. And it makes me sad.

Updated their food menu. You can now get egg whites.

    I am a happy camper.

Also, they have bacon jam! What the heck? It'd delicious, by the way. And the honey mustard they serve with the cheese curd appetizer? Heavenly. Also, spicy.

I love this place. There. I said it.

This is THE bar. I once tried in the summer to go in the late evening, and it was very crowded. I should have known then that I would love it.

On Saturday, the boyfriend felt in the mood to get up and start watching some soccer. So up we went. I made him leave early because I felt as thought it might be a little crowded, and when we got there, there was only one other dude who left when his game was over. However, once ours started, people started filing in and it go to be pretty crowded. I had the breakfast burrito and my boyfriend had the spicy chicken sandwich, which we both enjoyed a lot. I was very into the burrito, as I wanted some eggs. As an fyi, you can't get egg whites, which was a smidge disappointing, but I carried on!

The bartender was very friendly, the Saturday special was good, and the game was on. I don't know, this bar really gets five stars for being a place where I can go to watch soccer that I don't know that much about in the morning, and I don't have to stress about not having the channel. Also, it is very close to my house, so it makes it well worth it! One day, when I'm not on a budget (so probably never), I'll get lots of crazy beers that they have on tap or in bottles. There's a big selection, which is also a big plus in my book.

I had waited so long to try this place and I really wanted to ever since it opened. since my lovely love of my life won't touch any sushi, I had to wait until I had a friend to eat it with. Fortunately, my college roommate came to town for a wedding and we jumped on the chance to get sushi and BYOB was even better.

I made a reservation and they sat us right away, even though all of our party wasn't there. The biggest plus in the world for me, as this is one of my pet peeves. Our friends were even late to miss us because of traffic, so we ordered the Crab Rangoon Dip which was heavenly. I was suspect because it wasn't the regular crab rangoon, but the change was extremely welcome. It came with fried wontons on the side, which you dipped into the crab rangoon baked mixture which was creamy, cheesey and full of crab. It also had a wonderful spicy underlay and I can't believe I just wrote that in regards to crab rangoon, but here we are. This is a whole paragraph about crab rangoon and if that doesn't tell you something, it should.

I ordered three rolls once our friend arrived, including one of the sports rolls. Reasonably priced and filled with amazing things, they hit the spot. Some of the rolls were huge and I ended up not even finishing one of mine. And I always eat all of my sushi.

The staff was extremely attentive and they continuously asked if we needed anything. There even wasn't a big hassle when we split the check-they just did it by seat. Viola! Amazing. I will be back, frequently.

VERNOR'S GINGER ALE

Ok, so that gives Leo's a point alone, because vernor's is delicious (though not exactly hard to find). I also happen to really like hot dogs, hot dogs with mustard, hot dogs with chilli, and hot dogs with mustard AND chilli. I think the flavor combination goes really well together and I dig it. So Leo's has the coney dog for me and I can get it kosher (not that I keep kosher, I just prefer kosher hot dogs).

You can also get lemon rice soup, which is one of my favorites and it is good. I like it.

The beer is cheap. $2 domestics, $3 for some nicer beers-it's worth it. The price is pretty awesome for lakeview and you always want a beer with your hot dog!

There are fries. Curly, Greek, regular-they're all good if you dig fries.

I dig it. I'm glad I live close. Or is it bad I live close? It's possible.

Went here on Friday after work with some co-workers to celebrate the end of the work week. I was looking for something refreshing, relaxing and friendly and we got it.

We started off with drinks and I ordered the Gatsby and did not stray from it for the rest of the evening. It was delicious- gin with white cranberry juice and cucumber puree, it hit the spot. The best type of drink, refreshing and light-it also didn't even taste like alcohol. I had three and I regret nothing.

For food I ordered the pork belly sandwich which was delicious and full of flavor. I also poured the spicy vinegar all over my fries which was the right choice-especially if you're into vinegar on your fries (which I am).

The music didn't start until later but once it started, we were really into it. I mean, they played "Get it Together" by the Beastie Boys, which is my favorite Beastie Boys' song.

I will come back, without my car, so I can drink Gatsbys to my hearts content (I also really enjoyed the literary reference).

All right Kirkwood, you got me.

While this bar had previously been on my "places I hate being at when going out" I've been enjoying it, more and more...during the daylight/early evening hours.

They've got good beer. Seriously. Magic Hat #9? I will drink you at $5.50 a glass all day long.

The food is also awesome. Good choice of fries (the sweet potato fries are exceptionally delicious) and wonderful burgers, buffalo chicken sandwiches, wraps and the chicken pesto sandwich. And, SKILLET COOKIES. I plan on eating a lot of skillet cookies this summer. I plan on eating at Kirkwood too much, to be honest.

The beer garden is wonderful looking, though I haven't eaten in it yet mainly because it was pretty full last time we were there.

I will be back...just not after 9pm.

After the most uncomfortable 40 minute car ride in the world (a 7 passenger mini-van does not fit 9 adults), we finally arrived. I was about ready to beat my sister over the head for making us drive all the way here for food (and i LOVE food) I stopped being grumpy and came in. I didn't know what kind of food I wanted but I did know I wanted an arnold palmer and I'll tell you it was delicious! Sweet tea and lemonade, my two favorite non-alcoholic drinks that I never ruin with booze. I finally settled on the jerk chicken with macaroni and cheese and greens.

And then they brought out the cornbread, and that's when I knew I was finished. I knew I was finished. It was sweet and the honey butter. oh my goodness the honey butter took it to the next level. I could've eaten the whole tray of 9 slices of cornbread, but I ate two because my grandma didn't like it. Win. We got more cornbread to come with the meal and I settled in as our server put a steaming hot plate of jerk chicken over rice in front of me.

I got the dark combo, and when i went to pull the leg away from the thigh, the leg bone came out of the meat and the meat just fell off the bone. This was some of the most succulent, juicy and delicious chicken that I've ever had in my life. It wasn't dirty tasting like some people who fake jerk seasoning get and it was the perfect amount of heat-my nose was running a little, but I could still eat all of the chicken as it was. The mac and cheese was delicious, which I swear is because they put cheddar directly on the bottom of pan, on top of some butter. It was heavenly. The greens were just ok-my grandma makes better.

Our waiter was nice and welcoming, if not silly about basketball (you can't say D.Rose is your dude and have the heat winning it) and service was a little spotty to begin with, but it ended up being the best meal I had on my recent vacation. I would go back and eat this again and again.

Before graduation, we were hungry. We woke up earlier, we came to do my sister's hair and we didn't stop to get breakfast. So here we came for the breakfast buffet.

I hate buffets. But I needed some food so I stock piled my plate with everything while forgetting that it was pay by the pound. I had a biscuit which sausage gravy, which ended up being cold but still tasty, though I don't like cold gravy so I was done. There was a wait for bacon and I wasn't waiting, so I got a sausage. Some potatoes and then a ton of fruit. The fruit ended up being the best part, probably could've skipped everything else.

My sister told me she'd get sushi here a lot (since it was right near where she lived) and I feel like if I had been around more often, we would've gone too. LEGIT. All in all, it was a good breakfast, it just sucked that it was so expensive.

Went here for my sister's graduation dinner because her and my mother love it so much. My expectations were high, despite being surrounded by family members that had been working my nerves for the previous three days.

My sister really wanted the gorgonzola bread, so we ordered it at our table...and it got sent to another table. She had to order another one. This happened with many other items during the dinner. I understand that we had a lot of tables, but there were three waitresses taking care of us. You'd think that they could remember which black person ordered which dish, but I guess not. Mix up besides, the bread was seriously tasty but where can you go wrong with bread, gorgonzola and alfredo? Nowhere. We also had the combination appetizer platter, which is what you'd normally expect at an Italian restaurant. It was...very normal.

I ordered the spicy lobster pasta because a) it said it was spicy and b) LOBSTER. It also had scallops and shrimp in it. After handing me the wrong dish, I tried a bite. I waited. And waited. No spice. It was barely spicy and could've had more flavor in general. Do not recommend this dish, unless you go in expecting something not spicy.

All in all, I was disappointed that some place my sister loved let me down.

In the four years and three times that I visited my sister while she went to Georgetown, I only went here once. and that was after the excitement for me had died. Seriously, cupcake Girls, the tv show that follows the Georgetown Cupcake crew, on TLC almost RUINED this place for me.

Mainly because it is so stupid and the two girls are really dumb.

Anywho, because my sister was graduating and because next time I'm in DC I probably won't be anywhere near Georgetown, we went. The line wasn't too long, considering it was around 7pm on a Saturday, so we felt it was ok to wait. They do walk up and down the line offering water and they also give you a menu, mainly so you can decide and speed the process up.

I ordered three cupcakes- milk chocolate birthday (chocolate frosting on yellow cake), salted caramel and key lime. And I can say yuuuuuuuuum. The yellow cake was perfectly moist; the chocolate frosting left a little to be desired. The key lime wasn't too sour, but it was definitely packed with lime, in both the cake and the frosting. And the frosting on the salted caramel was TO.DIE.FOR. Seriously. Very caramel with a hint of salt.

It was legit and it was worth the very short wait I had. Minus a star because there might be a tid too much frosting, but that could be because I'm not a frosting girl and because of the fact that the tv show is so annoying that it hurts my ears.

Visiting my sister for graduation (this was a crazy graduation year, guys), she wanted some breakfast before convocation at Georgetown. She loves this place, so here we went. Not going to argue with the graduate.

She recommended the pancakes, so that I ordered, with bacon and potatoes. My mom got pancakes, sausage and eggs, which I split with her and my sister just got pancakes. Apparently, we are a pancake family. The pancakes were thin and crepe like, which I've been enjoying as of late. The eggs were fried to perfection (my mom likes them over hard, and that they were) and they were good and obviously fresh cracked. Bacon I could've skipped. Cafeteria style bacon is not worth it, guys! The potatoes were good; it seemed as if they had a light her flavor but I still had to add salt.

Service was a little bit slow, but I guess it was a Thursday morning, so it could be forgiven. The cupcakes looked delicious and huge, considering where we were. Nothing special, but enough food to be full on until it was time to go and eat a whole bunch of cheese.
