Came here for the one-hour happy hour, which is offered daily (including weekends) from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.  Food is $5 - we got the arancini (came with 5 small fried rice balls) and the fondue (same size as the regularly priced $14 one!).  We got a sangria ($4) and mai tai ($4) - both were fruity and refreshing...and cheap (though the Sangria generally costs $6).  I liked the fondue but my friend felt it was watered down with cream and that it didn't taste as "stinky" as before.  That's a plus in my book.  Sat outside on the patio, and it was nice and quiet.  Would go back for Happy Hour, but I'll prob never be able to make one again during the week due to the super early start time!

If the Italians served tapas, I would imagine they'd be like the dishes at Fraiche.  Following the recommendations from an article by Johnathan Gold and other Yelpers, my friend and I ordered the Papardelle w/ Short Ribs, Ravioli filled with Peas and Mint, and the Monkfish.  At first I was slightly worried that three dishes would be too much for two people, even with my big appetite, but my worries were in vain.  Definitely order several dishes bc they are on the smaller side.  I loved the texture of the thick noodles of the Papardelle, though both of us thought it was a little too salty.  I also wish it came with more of the rib meat.  The Ravioli had a sweet taste to it with a very slight hint of mint--delicious!  The meal also came with bread and an olive tapenade, which I didn't like, but that's only bc I don't like olives.  We also ordered several of their drinks: Blood Orange Martini (aka screwdriver with a fancy name), James Bond Melon Ball (filled with chunks of watermelon and vodka), The Grape (difficult to drink w/ a straw bc the mint and chunks of grapes kept getting in the way--but it was sweet and girly--yum), and a mojito.  I can't say I was too impressed with their drinks; they were more style than substance.  Dessert was some Italian donut with plums, which was good but was basically, well, a light donut.  The service was excellent and our waiter was really friendly. We sat outside, which was nice bc of the weather, but the downside is that ppl are allowed to smoke at their tables.  Oh, I went on a Sunday night, and they were booked but they do take walk-ins.  We got lucky and didn't have to wait too long for a table to open up.

Although this location is much bigger than the original, it was still super crowded!  However, there was no method to the madness.  Everyone was scoping out the tables like hawks, waiting for someone to leave.  I got lucky and snagged and empty table in the back after waiting around for about 10 minutes, but who knows how long other ppl waited.  The burgers are yummy (there's no ketchup anywhere but the caramelized onions gave it a good flavor) but expensive at $12.50 each.  A side of shoestring fries (nice and crisp) are $5 and sweet potato fries are another $7.50.  Add a Lindeman's Lambic Peche for another $7 or $8, and you've got yourself a somewhat expensive dinner.  Lots of Asians here.

Great happy hour!  Even though the menu states it ends at 7, it really runs until 8 p.m. five days a week!  I got a glass of wine for $3 and we ordered the curry crab sliders, soba, and spicy garlic chicken wings.  Each dish is tapas-sized and cost about $4-5.  Everything was good (the crab slider was a mini crab croquette sandwiched inside sweet bread) and the prices were right!

Since I was in the area for another event, I thought I'd stop by afterwards.  As with many other Korean venues, this one had the typical Korean men smoking right outside the building.  Thank goodness they don't allow smoking indoors like they generally do in K-town bars -- but then again, this is hipster-wannabe Culver City.  Gyenari was surprisingly nice - loved the yellow backdrop.  We only got a carafe (pronounced ca-rafe and not ca-ra-fe) of apple soju ($16), but that was pretty gross.  It was apple pucker mixed with soju.  The two definitely do not go well together, and no, it did not taste like an apple martini.  We sat at the bar, and the people around us ordered food, which looked good.  However, the couple next to us left their plate of sweet potato fries practically untouched - always a bad sign.  I saw that they have a daily Happy Hour from 4-7 with food and drink specials, so I'd probably check that out sometime before committing to a full on dinner.

Call me a sellout, but I still love Zippy's chili as well as the delicious homemade chili a late family member used to make.  Almost passed the little strip mall (and yes, it is little!), so be careful when coming from Culver (going south on Overland).  It's on the corner of Braddock and Overland.  Anyways, I liked that they gave samples out of the chili, although I might not have known about the free samples bc we weren't offered any.  I had not only read reviews that mentioned free samples, but the person in front of me inquired.  So YES - as of my posting, they DO give free samples, but you may have to ask!!

We both got the 12 oz portions, which was more food than I had anticipated.  They also sell the chili by the quart, which is 32 oz.,  (does not include the pita bread but I think the guy said you could get one for $1 each on the side).  I couldn't finish the pressed pita bread bowl (nice touch - this way, you don't lose any of the chili either).  My friend got the Turkey, and I got the Steak.  We both preferred the taste of the Turkey which is a bit lighter than the Steak.  We also got an order of the Buffalo Chips, which were slightly soggy - they're basically deep fried potato slices.  The total for everything was about $20 ($10 pp), and we were stuffed at the end.

I wasn't sure what to expect from an organic Chinese restaurant, but I found I really liked their food!  I was worried about the wait since the place was small, but there was none, probably bc it was Halloween.  We ordered:

-Hainan Chicken - I've had this once before, so I'm not sure what it's supposed to taste like.  It came with a mound of rice soaked in something that tasted like coconut - I wasn't too fond of the taste.  However, the chicken was really tender and had almost no fat.  It came with three dipping sauces (I liked the sweet dark brown one the best) - one was some chopped green veggie with a gingery taste.  This is a very small dish, so I'm glad we had other food to share.
-Wonton Noodle Soup - Wow, these wontons were packed with flavor; and no, this restaurant does not use MSG.  Delicious!  You can get these with thin noodles or thick.  I got them with thin.
-Pork and Rice - Forgot the name of this dish.  It came with a good amount of flavored pork and a side of flavored cucumbers.  This was also good, though I liked my Hainan Chicken better.   However, this dish was larger than the chicken.
-Passion Fruit Iced Tea - I like this only bc it didn't really taste like iced tea at all, so those who like real iced tea will prob not like this too much.  It comes with unlimited refills and is very sweet.

The employees were very friendly (possibly family owned?) and greeted everyone upon coming in and leaving.  You can get full from one dish, depending on what that dish is and how hungry you are; the dishes were not as tiny as some had described them to be but I definitely would not call them hefty.  They also make an effort to make the food look appetizing (nice presentation) unlike most Chinese restaurants.  I'll be back!

I still don't like the uncomfortable seating here, but I wanted to try their $20 happy hour special, which runs Mon - Thurs until 8:30 p.m.  There was sure a lot of food.  The chicken was a bit on the dry side, however, and the o-deng (fishcake soup) was pretty spicy - peppery spicy.  I like that they leave the soup on a flame so it doesn't get cold.  I really liked the squid tempera, which were only good while they were hot.  Korean flour pancake was okay, and the pork bbq was good.  Didn't try the tuna rolls, but we got two of them.  Also got a bottle of soju.  It was more than enough food for two ppl and could be enough for three who want to munch.  Great value.  Service was also good - one of the guys actually spoke English.  Later, some of our friends came so they were nice enough to move our table to a larger one.  We ordered the sweet potato fries, which I didn't like very much.  They were super, super thin and dusted with cinnamon powder - usually they come with sugar.  Bleh.  Also got the bud-deh-jiggae, which I didn't try, but I didn't hear any complaints.  The flavored soju was a bit strong.  I'd recommend coming here for Happy Hour rather than for their regular food.

I remembered when this location used to be a pool hall called Renaissance.  It's a really nice looking bar, but the menu is somewhat expensive.  They have a bunch of different flavored soju drinks (about $15 for a tiny bottle) and small plates like bacon-wrapped asparagus, which was delicious, by the way.  I didn't like the seats too much bc they didn't have any backing (they were basically square-shaped stools).  Service sort of sucked.  I rang the bell located on the table (those are the best inventions EVER) several times and was ignored, so I had to wave and flag down one of the waiters.

When ppl said this place was small, they really meant it.  Wasn't sure if they took reservations, so we walked on in on a Friday evening.  We had about a 20 minute wait, which wasn't too bad.  Since these were supposed to be tapa-sized plates, I was expecting super small bites, but the portions were not too bad.  However, don't expect to get full for less than about $25 pp w/ tip/tax.  At first I wasn't sure how the students could afford to eat here (I used to eat $3.99 steak and eggs at Norms back in college), and then I realized these were USC students.

The two of ordered five dishes + 1 dessert, and we were both full by the end of the meal.  Here's what we ordered:

-Bacaro Burger w/ Egg - This was larger than a mini burger but not as large as a restaurant burger.  It was a very good burger with a juicy patty.
-Pan Seared Scallops - First off, the word "scallops" is misleading.  It's really "scallop" - singular.  The scallop, however, was very large and succulent.  I only had a taste but my friend said it was a very good scallop and cooked just right.
-Panini Sandwich - We got this with mozzarella, basil pesto, and heirloom tomatos.  This actually came with two sandwiches slices in four pieces.  I wasn't a big fan of this one - didn't like the bread too much.
-Bruchetta - You get a choice of two.  We got the Tuscan White Bean, which had whole beans rather than a paste, which is what I had been expecting.  However, the bean topping had a lot of flavor and tasted better than I thought it would.  The second was the Roasted Garlic, Balsamic, and Basil Pesto.  This also came with whole garlic cloves drenched in balsamic and pesto - delicious!
-White Pizza - The was slightly larger than a mini pizza might be with a thin crust.  Crust was good; it went well with the wine.
-Moscato d'Asti - My favorite wine!  It's light, bubbly, and sweet but not cloying.  I was so glad they offered it here.
-Bread Pudding - This was an average bread pudding - nothing spectacular.   I had heard a table raving about how delicious it was, so I decided to try it.  Goes to show that everyone has different tastes.

There's not parking lot but we were able to find street parking.  There were only two servers who had to man the bar and run around with everyone's dishes, but they made it work.  I was able to get my water filled enough to make me happy, and the we didn't have to wait too long for our food.  I was a little disappointed with the fact that they don't serve bread here - if you want bread, you have to pay like $2 for it.  :(

Jazz Cat is back!  I had to wait about 30 minutes for a table for two on a Sunday evening, but it was worth it.  I thought the place would be larger than it was - they had a lot of 4-6 person booths but I didn't see very many for two ppl.  Instead of flames, they smartened up and use flat surface burners that are part of the table - you control the heat with a knob.  Prices did go up - I paid $14.95 for my milk and corn hot pot and did not receive any more food than at the old place; guess they had to find a way to pay for the new place somehow.  The hot pots are also wider and shallower than at the original place, which made it easier to cook all the food.  Food tasted the same.  One big improvement was the service - the waitstaff were way nicer than at the original!  The parking situation is better here, too.  There's plenty of free underground parking!  They had a patio, but at the time, there was nothing set up.

Wow - I had no idea the Ice Cream Man gave out free ice cream on a regular basis - I thought it was only free bc of the Yelp event!  Got the Cookies and Cream as well as a Chocolate bar.  There's a modest selection of ice cream bars (you won't find any of those brightly colored ice cream sticks w/ bubble gum eyes), including some fruit bars and a cookie sandwich.  The only thing missing was the ice cream truck music - I asked the guy what happened and he said something (speakers?) were broken.

This totally beats those photo booth shots!  Loved the idea - and the fact that it has a magnet so you can throw it on your fridge.  I looked at their website and as I had guessed, their prices are definitely NOT cheap.  However, I got my two picture magnets for free (they're normally 4 for $35).  Hence, the five stars.   And the photographers were way friendly.  What a great party favor!
