I liked the neighborhood charm and friendly service of this restaurant, but the food just doesn't make me want to go back for seconds.  Our meal started off good, then took a nosedive when our entrees arrived.  The bread is delicious, and we shared a lobster risotto for an app.  This was pretty yummy, except there was no lobster- I ate something that tasted like frozen imitation crab meat.  Ick.  Come on, if i order the lobster risotto special, I expect lobster... I'm ok with paying more for what I'm expecting.  For our entrees, he got a pizza, nothing special.  I got veal parmesan, which didn't taste like parmesan and was very dry.  It was an impressively big portion, but just was low on taste.  The carrots on the side were good, but the potatoes were very greasy and salty.  Overall, not a great plate, and tasted worse the next day as leftovers.  I'm disappointed because I really wanted to like this place!  Still in search of that perfect neighborhood Italian place...

Not terrible, but not great either.  The service was friendly, but the food is just not that good.  Very greasy and sweet, like bad chinese food.  I was excited to try the lahaina fried chicken, but it ended up being too sweet and greasy, and not crunchy at all.  This is probably from not frying at the correct temperature.  The char siu chicken was also too sweet,  if it hadn't been so sweet i bet it would've been a lot tastier.  Actually the highlight of the meal was the spam musubi, which i thought was delicious.  But then again I wouldn't come back just for that, I would just make it at home.  You get what you pay for!  Big Wok a few doors down is way better in my opinion!

This restaurant is perfectly elegant and sexy for a special occasion.  My bf and I came to celebrate our anniversary and it was perfection.  The service was gracious without being stuffy, and we felt pampered.  We definitely considered ordering the tastings but many of the a la carte offerings looked so good that we went that route instead.  We started off with caviar, served impeccably with finely minced egg, chives, cheese, and onion, with creme fraiche and blinis.  It was very luxurious paired with a bottle of champagne that the sommelier paired for us.  We then shared jumbo shrimp baked in salt- they were so delicious and huge, and they were plated for us table side.  One disappointment is that we weren't able to get the bouillabaise special, but maybe next time.  Next we had the foie gras, which was nicely done, and rich but not too heavy.  For entrees we had the John Dory and Duck.  The sauce I had with my John Dory was amazing, it brought the taste of the perfectly cooked fish to another level.  I think next time we will try to go all seafood and not do the duck again.  After our food we got complimentary candies (delicious), and lollipops as a special gesture.  The lollipops were really cool- white chocolate shell filled with passion fruit liquid!  A really nice touch!  We will definitely be back for another special occassion or when we just feel like indulging.

Great food, I really enjoyed the tuna with rice crackers, the mackarel, and the fried chicken.  You can definitely get a good variety of interesting dishes.  Definitely try the tuna poke.  It's delicious served on a blend of seaweeds and rice crackers.  This is a dish I would order again and again. It's very lively, but it's a little cramped in my opinion.  Also, the service is a little scatterbrained- they could definitely use a few more servers.  Overall I enjoyed coming here and will be back to solidify my findings.

After reading that this Harlem institution is filing for institution, I felt compelled to write a review.  I love this place.  Whenever I have a hankering for a delicious piece of friend chicken, or a well buttered piece of cornbread of biscuit, this is the only place that can suffice.  I mainly go for the fried chicken, but I've also had the chicken livers, which is very good, but way too big of a portion to eat for breakfast/lunch.  I say, in these hard times, support those local restaurants you love!

My bf and I came here on a trip to San Francisco to celebrate our six month anniversary.  I noted this in my reservation and they did make it special.  We got a card from the GM at our table when we arrived, and our sommelier helped us pick out a really nice champagne to start with.  It was the Iron Horse Mina Cuvee Blanc de Blancs, which was great!  We also got great wine pairings for our meal.  The entire meal was great, though for both of us, it verged on being too much food.  One highlight was my bf's foie gras/ kobe beef shabu shabu- very innovative and to die for.  I also enjoyed my lamb trio, though it was a lot of meat for one course, I could barely finish.  I would definitely come here again when in San Francisco.  The quality of service, food, and ambiance are all top notch and great for a special occasion.  I also recommend staying at the Westin for that extra special touch- we had a great time!

MMMM, when I crave oysters, this is the place I want to go!   My boyfriend first introduced me to oysters here, so this place has a special meaning to me.  I love the old school, efficient service.  Now, I'm an oyster FIEND.  I'll eat oysters any place I can.  Their selection is unparalleled, incredible fresh, and very reasonable priced.  Mosts of their oysters are around the low $2 range, which is a lot cheaper than the $3 most restaurants charge.  I love sitting at the bar and ordering a bunch, and watching them shuck the oysters.  Also make sure you order the oyster pan roast.  The stone crab claws are also very good in season.  The other seafood is ok, but that's not what I'd go to the Oyster Bar for.  Go for the oysters. Slurp em down.  Come out happy happy!

The tacos here are fantastic!  Try the lingua and carnitas tacos.  Also, their huaraches are great too.  Don't forget to heap on the toppings that are set out on the counters (esp the hot peppers), it'll really make the tacos sing.  And yeah, the al pastor is pretty good!

I really enjoy coming to lunch here, as my office is in the building a few doors down.  Eos has a lovely atmosphere and is a nice contrast to a lot of the other lunch options in the area.  It's also great that their lunch service doesn't take forever, so you can expect to get back to work within an hour.  Their lunch options are great and very reasonably priced.  You also get a very big portion for what you pay.  My favorite dishes are the Moussaka, the chicken soup, and the gyro (huge, I usually eat it for two lunches).  Their side salad is delicious.  I'm really glad to have Eos as an addition to the neighborhood!

Love this place!  Good beer and cheap/delicious eats!  The wieners and brats are awesome- they have the snap of the natural casing.  I also had the potato soup which was really good.  They have a really nicely price bar food menu which is great if you don't want to eat too much, but need to eat something to avoid getting too wasted...  The atmosphere is very lively and chill.  Definitely a fun place for hanging out.
