Midtown Tap & Tea Room

I've attended events at Midtown several times but, had not eaten there as a regular guest until this past weekend.  I've always enjoyed the food at the events and wanted to give them a try for breakfast.

Their breakfast menu is diverse yet limited.  Basically everything revolved around bagels.  They make all their bagels there and you can have them with a spread or as a sandwich.  There is a large range of sandwiches available with some interesting options.  I had the Brie and Jam on a wheat bagel and it was delicious.  The bagel was slightly crispy on the outside and soft inside.  The sandwich consisted of brie, apple slices and blackberry and balsamic jam.  I asked for the brie slightly melted.

We also tried the bubble tea.  I had the cherry with black tea and milk.  They give you a bunch of options and the tea is very good.  The tapioca pearls seemed a little powdery but, not bad at all.

I'd definitely go back for a light breakfast as I had this past weekend and would always consider Midtown for events.

Simply put, this place was amazing.  One of the best brunches I've ever had.  The atmosphere is casual and inviting.  The food was to die for.  The service was great.  It's a must stop when you're in the area.  Be prepared to wait, though.  They do not take reservations and it's extremely popular for very good reason.

While staying in SoHo for the weekend we were looking for a little place to have a good but uncomplicated breakfast.  We read the review of this place and it sounded perfect.

It was smaller than I expected but set up nicely and the doors that open to the patio are a wonderful addition.  We both had simple breakfasts.  I got the Eggs Benedict and it was prepared well and was definitely enjoyable.

The price wasn't too bad either.  We were impressed.  i would definitely recommend it for a good, quick breakfast or brunch.

Simply stated our food was amazing.  We tried a little bit of everything but two dishes that I was hesitant about but ended up being amazed by were the beef carpaccio and the flourless chocolate cake.  Both were surprisingly amazing.

Of course we ordered some signature dishes and we were not disappointed.  The turnip puree with the trout is creamy and smooth and just plain yummy.  We had a wonderful sampler of sushi that came with a variety of fresh and delicious rolls and sashimi.

Our server was great.  He was knowledgeable and accommodating.  He definitely helped make this experience great.

The atmosphere is very modern and trendy.  The music was a little loud and it's all low lighting.  It is beautifully decorated though and if you have a chance, walk by the sushi bar.  It's fun to see them making the rolls.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights this past weekend. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in finding some great local places to eat and shop. They were always willing to help and give suggestions.

Having stayed in many NYC hotels, I was extremely impressed with the size of the room. It was spacious and well appointed with a desk, 2 closets and a safe. We had an awesome view from our room on the 11th floor. The bed was comfortable and the decor was inviting and not too overdone.

The breakfast is minimal and crowded on the weekend but, it's free and definitely worth it for a quick bite before a late brunch. We were did not have time to try the hotel bar but saw many people in there enjoying themselves.

The only downside (and it's not really a downside at all) is that the section of the street it is on is a little dead. There aren't really taxis that pull up to the front of the hotel like many other NYC hotels. Instead you have to walk the 50 feet to the corner and hail a taxi which was never a problem for us since tons pass by every minute.

The hotel is extremely close to some great SoHo shopping and eateries as well as a cute spa that does great $12.50 manicures.

I would definitely recommend this hotel as a hidden gem. It helps to do a little planning and research beforehand so you know where you are, where you want to go and your best course of action for getting there. We'll be staying again in December and I couldn't be more thrilled to return.

My family has been taking our pets here for about 15 years now and we always have a positive experience.  They are kind, caring and go out of their way to help you and your pet.

This weekend I was visiting some new groomers with my dog and realized I would need a record of her vaccinations if I wanted to make an appointment with one of them.  So, I called The Animal Hospital expecting to leave a message since they are closed on Sunday.  One of the staff answered the phone, though and said she was just there catching up on some things and would leave it in the drop box for me.  It was definitely not something she had to do and just a small example of how they go out of their way to help their customers.
