Kelsey Keyes reviews Black Dog: "I was super excited to try this new place. We tried to go one Friday night, around 7:30 and the place was packed! And there were about 7-8 people ahead of us in line. We decided that it was worth waiting, until the chef came out personally and told us that they were out of just about everything on the menu. So we had to try again the next week. This time we came earlier, around 6, and it was still packed, but we got one of the last tables. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my friend (tried) to order the ribs platter (but he was served the smaller portion - we didn't complain, but we were disappointed). I was surprised at the smallish portion of food, and my sandwich was a bit dry - it could definitely have used more bbq sauce! The baked beans on the side were tasty and smoky, and the coleslaw was pretty good too. We felt like we were rushed out of there (the waitress never asked if we wanted another beer, she just brought us our check), but they were pretty busy, so I guess it's understandable. So, overall I was underwhelmed. I'd recommend: 1. arrive early, or expect to wait, 2. ask for more bbq sauce and 3. hope that the service improves as the restaurant becomes more settled.
Kelsey Keyes reviews Fiesta Cafe: "It took me a while to come around to Fiesta Cafe, and I still don't think their chips and salsa are as good as those you get at Dos Reales. Still, the food is reliably good. And the fish tacos alone make it worth a visit. Service has always been remarkably friendly, and generally fast. Plus, the building is painted bright pink! What more could you want?"
Kelsey Keyes reviews: The Clark Bar is easy to overlook, but worth checking out! They have a fun menu (split fairly evenly between regular items, and new dishes that usually have some unifying "theme"). The chef, waitstaff and bartenders are exceedingly friendly and helpful. Be sure to check out the Monday night specials -- 25% off tapas, and $5 martinis!
This is the best pizza available in CU. I love their thin, crispy crust pizzas, and you can pile on four toppings of your choice (options run from sun dried tomatoes to prosuitto to roasted peppers and onions!) A great, laid back bar with a good, friendly atmosphere. Also, if you go on Tuesday nights, the pizza is half price after 8:00 (a large pizza's only $8 this way!) which is a great deal.
