Wild Geese Tavern
Categories: Beer, Wine & Spirits, Pool Halls
The Wild Geese Tavern (aka. The Goose) is a decent pool hall, bar, and restaurant. It is definitely needed in west Pearland. The food is pretty good. I like the pickle chips and burgers. The service can be slow at times but it's not bad.
The pool tables are nice and there are a lot of them. I'm not sure how much it is to play though. Probably $10+ an hour. There are also a few dart boards.
There are a lot of televisions and projectors for game watching.
The crowd is a mix of suburban yuppies, college students, blue collar, white collar, some drop outs, and a few thugs every once and a while.
If you like the repetition of the Buzz radio station then you'll like the music selection. There is a digital juke box but every time I've been there the people pick horrible music. You'll here a lot of Creed, Nickelback, Staind, POD, Puddle of Mud, and the like.
I enjoy the place when it isn't packed, but can be annoying when crowded, which starts after 9pm. It is good for early Saturday game watching. They have a small porch.

The burgers aren't spectacular. Patty's are thin and from frozen batch like any fast food joint. The shakes were bland too. I did like the fries a lot. Not really worth the price. Probably won't go back. I'd rather have Whataburger.
I liked the diner style setup but it could have used a good cleaning. Tables and floors were a bit dirty with food and spills.
Like others have said, they could save money by having trays for dine in customers and bags for take away.

I normally go to Skeets for beer and watching games in the bar area, but I have had some of the food. It isn't spectacular BBQ but it is good and the price is right. I enjoy the free pool and lots of televisions.
They still allow smoking in the bar area as they are not in Pearland city limits. This doesn't bother me as the ventilation is pretty good, and I like to feel like I am in a bar when I'm in a bar.

Beaver's
Categories: Barbeque, Bars, Breakfast & Brunch

First time I went to Beaver's was a couple weekends ago on a Saturday afternoon. The place was moderately crowded but not packed. Just went for drinks on the porch. We were seated at a dirty table (bottles, trash, etc.). The waitress new we were there and we got her attention a few times but it still was twenty minutes without a drink order. We gave up and left. It wasn't worth complaining to someone as I wasn't going to give them any money after that delay.
Being the optimist I decided to try Beaver's for lunch with some coworkers yesterday. We got there at 11:30 and the place was pretty much dead. There were maybe 4 tables plus ourselves. It took too long to be seated. The waitresses kept switching who was serving us. It took 15 minutes to put in an order, another 30 minutes to get our meals, and another 15+ to get the check after requesting it multiple times. We finally got out of there about 12:40. The service was way too slow for the weekday business crowd.
On the plus side the food was good. I liked the fried chicken, juicy with a nice spicy skin. The chocolate chip pie was pretty good too. However, I had to eat it at the office as it took forever to get in and out of that place. The others enjoyed their meals and thought they were good (not great) but not worth the price for lunch.
All said and done, I won't be going back here unless they beef up the service.
On a side note. One of the guys eating lunch with us was at Beavers for the Red Bull thing and said the douche-baggery was epic and ruined the fun.
Pros: Food tasted good and big portions, decor, porch
Cons: VERY sloooooooooowww service, price

Date

The salad bar had 5 hot selections and a wide selection of salads, cheeses, cold meats.
The rodizio meats were excellent, with a couple cuts that were just so-so. There were a few things they didn't have available (venison, dove, quail, etc.). But for $16 you can't beat what they had (sausages, chicken wrapped with bacon, top and bottom sirloin, roast, lamb, baby beef, garlic beef, etc.).
I will definitely be going back.
