Diamond Restaurant

Diamond is really great. I've not yet had an unfriendly waitress. I love that they have a salad bar (I can last remember seeing a salad bar in the 90's at Wendy's.) I first had the roasted half chicken with half slice of peach (if you order this, ask for extra peach! There's only one! So not enough.) Their potato salad is very-near to how my mama makes it, with Miracle Whip, not mayonnaise. And their desserts? Absolutely, amazing, if you have room for any. At the entrance is the display case filled with cakes, pies, and cookies. The Zebra Cake and Mousse Cakes are the kind of cakes that make you stop and roll your eyes behind your head, making inaudible sounds of enjoyment. If you have trouble deciding what dessert to get, ask the Hostess. She has recommended me something new every time, and she's picks the best things!

Riccardo's Pizza Restaurant

Riccardo's Restaurant is a wonderful place to eat.

Upon first entering Riccardo's, you enter the Pizzeria. It's warm, almost hot, and looks just like every other pizza place you've ever been to. However, to your left is a doorway, with a wooden podium at it's entrance. If you've never been here before, or if no one told you about this place, you would likely stand at the podium and wait for some one to seat you. A waitress will just come along and tell you that you may sit wherever you like. In the warmer months, you can choose to sit outside in the courtyard.

The dining hall is like another establishment altogether in decor. This room has dropped the fluorescence of the pizzeria and replaced them with hanging decorative lighting. The tables covered in white clothe, a flower and candle atop each. The left wall has been painted a beautiful mural of an Italian village.

After ordering your food, the waitress will bring over a plate of garlic knots and marinara sauce that come with every meal as appetizers. These are delicious! But, every thing Riccardo's has to offer is excellent. My personal preference is the Baked Ziti.

I find in this area it's particularly rare to find a place that calls itself an Italian restaurant that can actually make Italian food the way it's supposed to be made.
Riccardo's is ..that.. place!

I do, however, have one negative to mention.
I do not suggest the coffee! I really enjoy strong coffee, although the coffee served here is Hulk strong!

Overall: Highly recommended!

Holly Brook Diner

The Holly Brook Diner has been around for many years now. The outside of the building shows that. The sign along the highway still says "Open 24 hours" but the hours changed a few months back. They close at 11 Sunday through Wednesday. Thursday through Saturday they are open round the clock.

Once inside, you can sit at the counter on stools, to the left (which is the old smoking section) or right at booths, or in the dining room. The booths are relatively small, but can seat 4 patrons. Each booth has a coin-operated jukebox, however many no longer work. The dining room is quaint, dim-lit, and mostly quiet.
The main door to the kitchen is in this room, so as the waitresses bring food in/out of this door, you can hear the noise (generally a radio) from the kitchen

The waitresses and hostess are friendly and personable. I recall years ago sitting at the counter with a few friends. I was upset, and one of the waitresses brought me a cup of coffee, smiled, and said, "It's on the house. You look like you need it." The wait staff are generally quick to get you what you ask for.

Being a regular customer, the menu now seems dull. It hasn't changed in two years, at least. The breakfast, lunch and dinner specials are continuously cycled every few days. As of late, the pricing has increased on everything from coffee to steak, as expected with the economy right now. Overall, though, the food is well made. The chef will gladly create meals made-to-order, even if nothing similar to it is on the menu.

Conclusion: Recommended as the place to eat out in this area. I'm there just about every Friday night for dinner.
