The Bar Method
Category: Fitness & Instruction
I've had I believe all the instructors at this studio and they are all peaches and really work you.
You should DEFINITELY check it out. I'm seriously a workout feen but this has taken priority over all - spin, bikram, tissu, cardio barre, you name it.
sidenote: oh and "one last thing" means the last thing in that set. got it! ;)

With a strong background in ballet and a serious addiction to working out - Bar Method has become permanent in my rotation of extracurricular. (bikram, tissu, dance, spin, cardio barre, pool, soft ball, etc)
This studio is extremely cute, clean and conveniently located (ample parking). I love how well kept it is. The floors are always clean and the studio is well - pretty! The locker area is cute and I love the brown and lime polka dot theme.
More importantly, I have had 3 different instructors so far and all 3 have been great. Motivational, professional and unique of each other - although the classes are covering the same basic thing it does not get boring or dull whatsoever.
I like to come in the mornings and if not late at night. These classes tend to be smaller which I like because I like to make sure my form is correct. Which also leads me to - even though you have x amount of time as a ballerina and there happens to be a "barre" in the room it is not the same whatsoever. You will be turned in, your standing leg will be bent and you are not dancing...not even the slightest.
sidenote: They like to say "one last thing". At first I had no idea what they were talking about (I'd be thinking, one last what??? because it was never really the LAST thing...I think I might still be confused)...I'm not sure if this is unique to this studio or to Bar Method in general.
Also, they have a really great new comers promotion - unlimited classes for 30 days for ONLY $100. That is a STEAL.
They tables are perfect, I think all of my APA wins are on their tables.
Karaoke on Wednesdays are fabulous. They also have Beer Pong on Saturdays.
They have a website that will post up any events, including pool tourneys. http://www.buterasbill.../
It takes willpower for me to walk into Butera's and not order the taquitos. I just love those little guys! nom, nom!

This is our "home" court in our APA 9-ball League. We play here every Thursday at 7:30 pm.
This is pretty much a 4th home for us. We know the workers and the owners and all the "usuals".
The juke box just got upgraded to digital this past new year and they got a new sofa installed with a massage option and everything.
They don't have hard alcohol, but they do have some great beers on tap (Fat Tire) and they women's bathroom is very well taken care of.
They some freshen uppers in there and it always smells really great. That's HUGE for me.
They have their own lot and they do have "some" foods, including microwaveable White Castle Hamburgers.
If you aren't interested in those, you can bring in outside food but just not drinks. This is probably the coolest place Moorpark has to offer.

Los Toros Mexican Restaurant

The hostess was wretched. Understandably she did not sit us down until ALL of our party was there - when we realized that 3 people weren't coming at we'd be 8, she literally threw a new buzzer at us and we had to REWAIT again.
The place was ridiculously loud and you can't walk anywhere without crashing into a server and their sizzling hot fajita plates.
Los Toros, I will never ever come here again - it's California there's a billion other Mexican Restaurants to go to. You can't afford to be rude to your patrons. You've lost my business completely. Good day!

We ordered the set menu that included a refreshing drink, soup salad, sandwiches, tea and dessert, this was ALL for $28 each.
The strawberry and rosebud lemonade was SO yummy. I loved all 5 of the sandwiches I tried. The soup was also delicious. We had a great time and definitely want to come back. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to do a nice, quiet lunch/brunch with a party of 2-6.
A very unique workout definitely. I felt it in my arms and shoulders. It was fun and I could see myself getting addicted wanting to learn more and more new tricks. The instructors were VERY nice and thorough with their teaching.
The owner, Cat, seems very passionate about the sport and was willing to explain the different classes and packages they have available.
Introduction classes are twice a week and give you a perfect 'taste' of what to expect at a reasonable price of $25.

The wedding party was up on the stage and we were able to see everyone enjoying themselves. It was very chic and the perfect size for the 300 or so guests.
Highly recommend!

Bi-Rite Creamery

bi-rite is very well known but the line moved quickly. it is NOTHING like an LA food trend which I just can not tolerate.
everyone in line was polite & civil. the employees were efficient and quick. it was a relatively painless process. when i heard we were going i was worried i was going to have a "Pink's Hotdogs" or "Sprinkles" (both located in Los Angeles) experience where you wait in line for hours for over priced, mediocre food.
not bi-rite. the ice cream was rich and unique in flavor. i got the single scoop of creme fraiche & brown sugar with ginger caramel swirl with dark chocolate topping. my only regret is not ordering a TRIPLE. :D

Given this advice I continued to practice & have fallen in love with it. The studio is WELL kept. Very clean lobby/shower/restroom area. The actual studio has the perfect heat and the floors are clean as well.
I have had all of the studios instructors & all of them have proven to be very professional & knowledgeable. Bikram is now a 90 minutes mini-vacation for my mind, body and soul. I absolutely love how I feel afterwards.
Anyways, I feel like cardio barre is more...well...cardio. It also helps my core more while Bar Method focuses more on the thighs and arms. After Cardio Barre you feel good, your heart is racing and you are sweaty. After Bar Method your legs are shaking from intense resistance work out & you are SORE.
Cardio barre is very unique and of the two stays more "true" to the form of ballet. Feet turned out most of the time and the movement still remaining very graceful (just quicker).
The Simi studio is located right next to Trader Joe's & is the second studio I took class from. Both the Eagle Rock and Simi studios have remained consistent with each other. That was really a good thing to find out. Both studios also have amazing instructors who have abs to die for! How's that for motivation??

You kind of have to know how to order. If you don't really care about calories or fat grams - order the heavy cheese dishes or a turkey burger, by all means. But if you are thinking you want to be healthy and you order the vegetable soup and the Good Earth sandwich (just veggies with 2 slices of cheese), then don't expect to have your face blown off with flavor or the same savory deliciousness as something breaded and fried would have.
My experience here was great - from the hostesses, to waiting service and my meal (1/2 sandwich of "Our Favorite" sandwich and chicken noodle soup). Read some reviews knocking them for their serving sizes - my retort: We're so used to Jurassic-sized portions. What they serve here is REALLY what portions should be like. Good morning, America.
