Blaustern is the way to go. For students, and for business people also.

It is not in the first district, but still very fast to reach (public transport and with your car/bike).

It can be loud if you sit in the outdoor chairs, but in summer it is a special place. You sit there and relax. While the traffic is flowing you enjoy every minute as time passes by. While you feel the pulsating city you enjoy that you are not part of the frantic. You rest, and hundreds driving by can see it.

Superb breakfast. "The" place to pose with your newest handbag or smartphone, while you meet your friends. Others may have the false expression of being part of the Viennese "Bussi Bussi" society. Here both can coexist.

The Donauturm was once the needle of innovation for Vienna back in 1964.

1962 to 1964 a waste disposal site was refurbished, a big park was built and the main element of it was the danube tower "Donauturm". Its elevator was the fastest (22km/h) in europe at the time.

The restaurant is moving around at slow speed, which means during a meal you can enjoy an exclusive view on top of vienna, which I find quite unique, because it still stands free without large buildings surronding the site. How could they, the tower is 250 meters high (platform 150m and two restaurant at 150 and 160 meters).

Even for sports it is an attraction. Bungee Jumping the way downwards and upwards stair-runners fight against the 776 stairs in around 4 minutes at the Donauturm-Lauf.

You can also refill your electric car or scooter here. Special event for sure is the new year to enjoy the fireworks, which you should reserve early.

If you do business in Vienna there are some places where you have to go to fulfill the duties, especially if you stay longer and have your main residence here.

How could I rate the "Finanzamt" financial authorities as fan? Well here comes a very handy trick. The Fiannzamt located in the 22nd district 1220 Wien has to provide its service for the biggest part of Vienna. It is responsible for the districts 2, 20, 21 and 22.

Which means you can not always expect a super fast reaction, which "could" be an advantage sometimes. Did you get my message between the lines? ;-)

Ok, since a few years the times have changed at the citys authorities offices. As a normal "consumer" you are forced to take a number and wait in the crowd on the ground floor, where you are dealt with in an open space like in the supermarket. (No audible freedom, if you know what I mean).

So if you get a letter from the Finanzamt look at the name of your "key account" on top of the page and ask on the ground floor that you want to speak with Mr./Mrs. KeyAccount. Then the groundfloor concierge is taking his key and opens the doorway for you.

If you know the floor on which your "partner" waits for you then you can also dive into the elevator, but only if you have clothes like Columbo and carry lots of paper with you. Because the elevator is normaly only for employees, but if you display medium grumpiness on your face they will not be able to dicover the camouflage.

As I said above this special "outlet" has a real lot to do, so take your business address in 2,20,21 or 22 and you will really enjoy how nice your partners on the other side handle you, as long as you show willingness to cooperate and to deliver, they are really friendly. Especially compared to the social insurance authorities, this palce will feel like heaven for you.

Expect the unexpected.

Christkindlmarkt refers to christmas market, a very old tradition in europe.

Vienna has several of them, but the one near the Rathaus is the biggest one, getting most attention. It attracts much more visitors per year than the city has inhabitants.

But dont be afraid about overcrowding. This place really has a special peaceful mood so I can also tell you its great fun to visit it with the whole family including your children. Even if you hit the rush hours on weekend evenings there are parks on both sides of the market.

It is an open space where tourists and local people often make a visit more than once. If you live in Vienna and have guests, it is a perfect place to go in the late afternoon before you dive into the city for your evening programe.

And it is really an open and free place, which means that you have on two sides stalls selling chirstmas decorations, food and souvenirs, but you are never forced to join the commercial part. Also you are free to decide if you want your drink (the "Punsch") with or without alcohol.

And even in summer time this palce has a special goodie for you. In July and August in front of the rathaus you can watch films and classical music for free! on a big screen. It's called the Musikfilm-Festival.

You may also have seen this location during the Euro 2008 soccer tournament was it a public viewing location. Then was the only time when the overcrowding was not family proof.

You can reach this fine place very easily with public transport. Watch out for underground "U-Bahn" U2 and the station named "Rathaus".

Es fällt mir nicht leicht. Also ganz schweren Herzens gebe ich meinen Geheimtipp preis.

Seit nun mehr 5 Jahren habe ich jede einzelne Pizzeria mit Zustellung im 19. Bezirk ausprobiert. Wirklich jede.

Frei nach "From Dusk Till Dawn": Kleine Pizza, große Pizza, dünne Pizza, dicke Pizza, runde Pizza, Herzform Pizza, Vollkornpizza, Gemüsepizza, salzige Pizza, würzige Pizza, scharfe Pizza, ganz scharfe "Schwitza"-Pizza, leckere Pizza, knusprige Pizza.

Ja sogar Tiefkühlpizza von der lieben Frau Kati bei der BP Tankstelle in der Krottenbachstraße um 23:59 gekauft und als Mitternachtsvesper zubereitet.

Aber es kann nur eine geben: Pizzeria Ninos anrufen: "Ihre Telefonnummer bitte" #### ####### "Was hätten Sie gerne" "Eine Capricciosa" "30 bis 40 Minuten"

Und nach 25 bis 35 Minuten klingelt es an der Tür. (Rekord war 23 Minnuten 4 Sekunden)

Frisch, warm, lecker, ein echter Genuß, konstante Qualität seit 5 Jahren. Und vor allem unerreicht im Vergleich mit allen sonst verfügbaren im Umkreis.

So meine liebe Community, wie der "Wir sind Kaiser" so schön sagt: Tuts jetzt alle schön brav sein, und nicht zu oft bestellen, damit die durchschnittliche Lieferzeit nicht so leidet.

*Schmatz* ...ich muss gleich wieder anrufen.

P.S. Hab ich war im Frühling fast ein Monat durchgehend täglich "schwach", konnte mein Zielgewicht (nach oben) aber wieder nicht erreichen und habe aufgegeben (der Pizzaboden dort ist ja auch so schön dünn *hmmmm*).

Tausende betrunkene walzertanzende Wiener besudeln das Pflaster mit teuer gekauftem billigen Schaumwein.
Umringt von schreienden und schießenden Italienern. Doch dann erhebt Sie Ihre Stimme. Obwohl Sie eigentlich stumm ist. Viele Touristen wollen Sie ehebaldigst besuchen, so manch hier Getrauter wird Sie eheberatend verfluchen. Ihr Ex kommt aus der Türkei. Ihr "Neuer" aus Bayern.

Ich stehe am Stephansplatz in Wien, es ist Silvester. Sie läutet, die Pummerin.

Aber eigentlich läutet Sie nicht. Denn angeblich kommt das Läuten nur vom Tonband. Aber einmal habe ich Sie wirklich live gehört. Beim letzten Habemus Papam. Schon ein beeindruckendes Gefühl, wenn eine der ältesten Unternehmungen so mächtig ist alle Glocken in allen Kirchen weltweit läuten zu lassen. Das waren zumindest meine Gedanken als ich die Pummerin gehört habe bei der letzten Papstwahl. Kurz bevor ich ausgetreten bin. Aber das ist eine andere Geschichte. Das werde ich einmal unter der Rubrik "Dienstleistungen" näher ausbreiten. Hihi.

Achja es gibt eine Neuigkeit. So wie beim Sprichwort "Jeder Topf findet einen passenden Deckel" so haben sich in den letzten Kriegswirren auch die Glocke und ihr Klöppel hier gefunden. Aus türkischen Kanonenkugeln ist er gegossen. Hängt das ganze Jahr nur runter und bewegt sich nur zu besonderen Anlässen. Naja, kommt ja aus der ...
Kriegszeit, leider.

Aber hey! Jetzt kommt neuer Schwung rein! Die Pummerin soll einen neuen Klöppel bekommen. Ihr "Neuer" kommt aus Bayern.

Er ist drei Meter lang =8-o

und 600 Kilo schwer. Also ob der sich mehr dann bewegen wird als ihr "Alter". Wir werden sehen.

Bussi Pummerin. Als Wiener hab ich Dich genau so lieb wie das Neujahrskonzert.

Wien und seine alten klassischen Cafehäuser. Das ist so untrennbar verbunden wie Gastlichkeit und das Cafe Hummel im Herzen der Josefstadt.

Als Globalisierungsbremsender Citytrotter entferne ich mich nur selten von meinem jeweiligen Heimatbezirk. Die Parkplatzsuche mit dem Auto kann aber sehr gut mit modernen Mitteln wie handyparken.at gelindert werden um dieses Kleinod - ja eigentlich - die Stadt in der Stadt zu erreichen.

Am Standort des Cafe Hummel bekommt man einfach alles. Von der Einkaufshalle (Supermarkt) über Trafik und 5 Euro Handyshops findet man so ziemlich alles in diesem Grätzl.

Aber wenn es um die hohe alte Wiener Schule der Gastfreundschaft geht, dann führt kein Weg am "Hummel" vorbei.

Über 50 Jahre Verbindung zum Bierlieferanten habe ich gehört. Das nenne ich mal "commitment".

Die reichliche Auswahl der "I hobs gern ausebochen" böhmisch/Wiener Küche hilft mir oft um mein Zielgewicht (nach oben) zu erreichen. Vom Ham and Eggs Sonderedition mit 5 Eiern bis zum saisonalen Sulmtaler Backhendl gibts jede Menge Köstlichkeiten die meine Badezimmerwaage erzittern lassen.

Auch beruflich steht das freie WLAN zu Verfügung um je nach Bedarf mit Notebook zu verweilen um die neuesten Trends Online zu verfolgen oder mit Freunden aus Russland und 20 Wodkas auf den Kauf eines Zinshauses anzustossen.

Für die griechische Methode des "Kuvert unter dem Tisch durchzuschieben" sind nicht alle Tische geeignet, da manche einen "Haxn" in der Mitte haben.

Auch Tipps von den Kellnern gibt es kostenfrei dazu. Zum Beispiel kurz vor Schulbeginn: "Kommens am Montag vor 9. Weil da werden wir wieder recht voll sein bis Viere am Nachmittag" - "Wieso, kommen dann so viele Eltern die keine Bürotermine haben?" - "Na, die Schüler die die Schule stangeln"  ;-)

So erfüllt das Hummel also auch so manche wichtige soziale Funktion.

Werte Freunde und Freundinnen, ich kann diesen Ort nur wärmstens empfehlen. Schaut mal vorbei und ihr werdet die einzigartige Energie der jetzt schon über 75 Jahre andauernden Tradition spüren.
