Keltic Krust was going a little bit downhill earlier this year. I had gotten a brownie that tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for way too long and it sort of turned me off.
But recently, it went under new ownership and things have really improved! The interior that people have complained about in posts from previous years is much nicer, including more cafe-like chairs instead of those old pink ones. They've also improved a few of their recipes (namely the cookies that went from mediocre to really good!) and expanded their sandwich offerings. Their hours are better, too.
They didn't change the recipes of their classics like the hot cross buns and the chelsea buns, luckily.
It seems like they're doing even a little more to improve Keltic Krust, and I'm excited to see what else.
I do agree that the interior could use a little work and that the hours are unaccommodating. But I was surprised to see people say that the food looks like it's been sitting around forever. In my experience, everything I've had there has been very, very fresh. (And you can get discounted day old pastries)
Their sandwiches are good and they have nice choices of bread. Their free wi-fi is much faster than at most places that offer free wi-fi. The people who work there are friendly and remember their customers. It's seldom empty inside. In fact, on the weekend mornings I can never even find a seat.
I'd like to see it expand its hours and make the interior a little more welcoming (maybe a sofa or some nicer tables/chairs?)
Anyway, give Keltic Krust a chance!! And try their hot cross buns.

It was also strangely quiet in there, even when full with groups of people and even families with kids. Everyone's voices echoed. It made the environment feel a little sterile even though the restaurant was pleasantly decorated. Some music would help the ambiance.
I really liked the onion pakoras and the ground beef kabob. Those were my favs. The palak paneer was great, too. We also got a spicy chicken dish and I can't remember the name, but it was very tasty.
I think next time I'd do takeout.
