Joe's American Bar & Grill
Categories: American (New), American (Traditional), Burgers
I was debating giving it four stars, but I wound up having to give it three. Part of the trail smelled really, really bad. I don't know if this is a frequent problem, but it smelled so foul that I actually thought I might vomit.
Parking was difficult, too.
I'll visit again, but I don't think I'll venture over to the Boston side of the trail, due to the odor.
1) The wait is always very long, and there's really no good place to hang out while you're waiting if it's crowded. It also seemed really disorganized there, like there was zero management.
2) The hostess seemed stoned out of her mind, and when our name was finally called, she showed our party of THREE to a table for TWO. So we wound up having to wait for a while longer.
3) All three of our water glasses had lipstick on them.
4) For dessert, I got a brownie sundae. I thought they could have at least heated the brownie up before serving. My husband got cookies and ice cream, and I also thought his cookies would have been warmed up and softer.
It's definitely a bit expensive and since we had to wait so long, we were ravenous which is why we got appetizers and desserts. I do love the truffle and chive mac and cheese and the homemade potato chips were delicious.
I'll go back because I like the food, but is it worth an hour wait? Nah. It just gets so crowded and on top of the long wait and the crowd, it seems very disorganized. In the future, I'd probably go during an off time.

The Local recently replaced RJ Crowley's in West Newton Square. So far so good.
They did update the decor a little, but maintained the cozy pub-like atmosphere. They kept the big wooden square-shaped bar in the middle, which pleased me.
Everyone who worked there was friendly and attentive. The waitress was ready with a washcloth when I spilled water on myself and the owner came by to see how we liked our experience.
The mussels appetizer was good. It was small, but only $5. A perfect way for two people to start their appetites up. Next, I got a salad which was also good.
For my main course I got macaroni and cheese with peas and ham. You can also get lobster or chives and truffles in your mac and cheese.
I left with my pants feeling mighty snug, but it was good. We'll be returning.
We stayed there because we had a wedding to attend in Rockport but I would absolutely stay there again!

A fun and laid back place to enjoy some lobster when in Rockport.
The line was insanely long, like everyone else has mentioned. The speaker ordering system was cumbersome. They didn't seem to hear us very well. I didn't like how there wasn't any indoor seating. I don't like eating in the car, which come winter will be the only option unless you live close enough to take your food home. I think the fact that there's no indoor seating is really ill thought out. I can't imagine wanting to eat in my car when it's 20 degrees out and having to leave the car running to keep warm. (Alternatively, I wouldn't want to eat in my car or on the patio when it's 90 degrees out with a 75 dew point like it was a few weeks ago)
I really liked my tater tots, and I gobbled my burger up, but like I said, that might have just been because I was SO SO HUNGRY. I might have to go back and reassess the burger situation. My husband said his burger was not very warm. The unsweetened iced tea was really good.
The teenagers working the drive-through looked more like they were goofing off versus working. That would probably explain why they neglected to give us napkins and BBQ sauce for the popcorn chicken my friend ordered.
I'd go back if we're in the area and if there isn't such a long line! Not worth going out of your way for, not worth waiting in line for more than 15 minutes for, but good as far as fast food options go.

Children's Orchard-Resale & New
Category: Used, Vintage & Consignment
My midwife told me about Children's Orchard and we totally lucked out -- they had ONE bassinet! It was clean, in good condition, and 50 bucks less than the one I was going to get from Toys R Us. Aside from clothes, they had other types of things that we'll probably going back for if we don't ultimately get them as shower gifts, like swings and bouncers. The stuff was all in decent to great condition with excellent prices.
It's a place where I'm sure the merchandise changes regularly, so it's worth going back every now and then to see what they have.

We settled on Joe's. I got the turkey dinner which was a ridiculous amount of food and it was all good. Corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and turkey.
Not worth going out of your way for, but if you're famished and stuck in the abyss that is Route 9 Natick/Framingham, it's worth a shot!
