Wow.

Stopped by here tonight for the first time -- and all I gotta say is WOW...

As an East Coast transplant (yes, another one) -- I was surprised to see a CVS finally arrive into town..

Like other brands  "back home" (like Friendly's, Dunkin' Donuts, D'angelos, Stop and Shop, Carvel, etc.) --- CVS is very well-known and long established...

I haven't been to a CVS in years... I wonder what took them so long to get here..

Anyway, I'm glad they're here --- I just hope they don't do what Rite-Aid did and pull out of S.F. after two years.. which essentially surrendered the S.F. area to Walgreens.. It's nice to have an alternative...

The customer service was awesome the minute I walked in.. Woman behind the counter was friendly, helped me sign up for the discount card, and didn't seem annoyed or in a rush...

Another dude in the aisles went to the back of the store to look for the coffee that was on sale that I wanted.. They were still out -- but he wrote me a raincheck -- all the while looking like he actually ENJOYED HIS JOB --- WOW --- what a concept, huh?

Security guard showed me where the soap was too -- and he was also nice... I tried the self-checkout too -- no qualms and I kind of liked it that I can check out at my own pace..

After a quick visit half an hour before closing tonight, I'm already a major fan...

When I walk off the plane after landing at SFO, and I walk to the ticket counter adjacent to the door I just walked out of, and ask the clerk -- "What number carousel is our baggage going to be at"... I expect you to know the answer to that question...

I ask the woman --- she has NO CLUE... "What flight did you come off of", she asks in a rather robotic manner...

Miss --- I came off the jumbo jet PARKED RIGHT BEHIND YOU... You know, the one with the engines still slightly turning?? Where the jetway to it is 3 feet away from you??  SEE???? Look out the glass windows ---- you can SEE IT!!

Even with those instructions, she still couldn't tell me....   I gave up....

And they wonder why customers get so angry with them...

Flew from SF to Boston on Dec. 23rd to visit the family in CT for XMAS..

Flight landed in Boston at 9pm, so I had to stay in the city until I could catch a train to my hometown (New London) in the morning.

I can't believe I had to pay over $100 to stay in this dump for one night..

They said "Because it's the holidays, we charge holiday rates" --- are they fucking kidding ??  It's a Y --- not the Hilton...

This place is WAAAAAYYYY OUT in the boondocks near the old Navy Yard.. There's a little shuttle bus that you can catch in the adjacent office complex to get to the T --- if you rely on public transit... and in Boston, who doesn't ?? So, that was a plus.. The counter clerk looked shady but was helpful, that too was a plus...

But --- the bed was dirty, the shower didn't work very well, and the hot water ran out... No food anywhere except for some cheap-ass Pepsi machine and a few bags of chips in a candy machine...

For $125 smackers I expected better.... But it was late, it was the holidays, and I was tired from a LONG cross-country flight...

I felt like a schmuck after checking out...

Over - Hyped,
Over - Priced,
& Over - Crowded.

Anyone who stands outside (in the cold) FOR AN HOUR just to eat bacon, eggs, toast, & home fries is a schmuck..

The yuppies can keep this one.  Amen.

I strolled over to here from Union Square one night on my way home from a hot booty call with a dude whose name I can't really remember.

I was hungering for a slice of apple pie from Table Talk. A sort of "dessert after dessert" , if you know what I mean.

But, they were out - except for lemon. So, I sighed and bought that instead. Chinese dude working the counter was polite, but acted like he wanted to be elsewhere.

Took the pie home, opened it up, bit into it, and it was the NASTIEST FUCKING PIE I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED..

The inside was shriveled up and hard as a rock... totally inedible... Now I'm peeved... WTF??? How long has this thing been sitting on your dusty, dirty shelves ?? I wondered...

Table Talk is a great brand, but 7-eleven sucks ass...

Rotate your stock correctly next time, buddy...

I've been coming here for years & I've never had a problem.

Sure, the lady running the place can be a bit "irritable" when she wants to be, but I kind of chuckle about it -- (as it gives the place its character). So does her husband, the hearty chef in the back.

To the people complaining about that, ask yourself : how would you feel if you worked 12 hours per day, 6 days a week, every week of the year ?  You would be tired too, I imagine.

But anyway, she still remembers me after all these years, and the food is really good, overall.

I always regard the place with a bit of nostalgia, as I went there on a first date with one of my ex-boyfriends, and we also broke up there, too..

Kinda bittersweet, breaking up over a delicious bowl of Chow Mein with sliced pork atop.. sipping tea whilst arguing over when to pick up each others' clothes at our apartments, and saying goodbye to each other as we munch on stale fortune cookies.. but, I digress..

In short, I'm a major fan. :o)  You might be too, just don't expect pampering..

I dropped in here one night on my way home from a class.

I walk up, order a custard donut and a large coffee.

Asian guy behind the counter looked absolutely miserable, so I didn't really chit-chat, and asks me if I want custard in my custard donut. What??!!  What kind of asshole question is that?

No big deal, I say yes, and sit down to enjoy it.

Some bum walks in and asks to use the John, but counter-guy says no, and as the bum turned to leave, he threw a basket of chips all over the floor. Asian guy screams at him, the bum flips him the bird. Whatever. I ignore it.

5 minutes later this douche-bag of a woman walks in and orders a latte-something or other, sits down, and loudly chats on her cell phone the entire time.

Bitch, you aren't that important.

I wanted to strangle her by the time I was ready to leave, but the J Church was barreling down to the bus stop, so I didn't have time.

Every time I walk into this place it always feels like it's an out-of-control, chaotic, free-for-all with little Asian girls elbowing past fat white men and ghetto-ass bangers lookin for new threads to hide their "piece".

Mix that in with a couple of rude asshole tourists, the Mexican Papi-Chulo that stands in the middle of the aisle and won't let you get by, and a check out line so long it feels like the apocalypse is coming, and you'll probably get a rough idea of what it's like to shop here.

As I step into this Bargain Basement of a dungeon, I remind myself every time that the new dress shirt I'm getting for $7.99 is worth risking my life and limbs for -- and I imagine you might feel the same with our economy in the toilet as it is. Just don't say I didn't warn ya.

This team stinks...

How in the hell can a 1st-seed team be ELIMINATED IN THE FIRST ROUND of the playoffs by an 8th-seeded team ??

What is wrong with you ??

This is the 4TH YEAR IN A ROW that you've been eliminated from the playoffs...

San Jose - as much as I want to like you and root for you - I COMPLETELY GIVE UP !!!

You suck, period !
