Sure, the lady running the place can be a bit "irritable" when she wants to be, but I kind of chuckle about it -- (as it gives the place its character). So does her husband, the hearty chef in the back.
To the people complaining about that, ask yourself : how would you feel if you worked 12 hours per day, 6 days a week, every week of the year ? You would be tired too, I imagine.
But anyway, she still remembers me after all these years, and the food is really good, overall.
I always regard the place with a bit of nostalgia, as I went there on a first date with one of my ex-boyfriends, and we also broke up there, too..
Kinda bittersweet, breaking up over a delicious bowl of Chow Mein with sliced pork atop.. sipping tea whilst arguing over when to pick up each others' clothes at our apartments, and saying goodbye to each other as we munch on stale fortune cookies.. but, I digress..
In short, I'm a major fan. :o) You might be too, just don't expect pampering..

Girl behind the counter was very nice. She asked me where I was from, and I told her San Francisco. She said that's awesome, and she slipped a couple of extra donuts into my bag on the way out the door.
I gave her a tip. A + all around !

I walk up, order a custard donut and a large coffee.
Asian guy behind the counter looked absolutely miserable, so I didn't really chit-chat, and asks me if I want custard in my custard donut. What??!! What kind of asshole question is that?
No big deal, I say yes, and sit down to enjoy it.
Some bum walks in and asks to use the John, but counter-guy says no, and as the bum turned to leave, he threw a basket of chips all over the floor. Asian guy screams at him, the bum flips him the bird. Whatever. I ignore it.
5 minutes later this douche-bag of a woman walks in and orders a latte-something or other, sits down, and loudly chats on her cell phone the entire time.
Bitch, you aren't that important.
I wanted to strangle her by the time I was ready to leave, but the J Church was barreling down to the bus stop, so I didn't have time.

Mix that in with a couple of rude asshole tourists, the Mexican Papi-Chulo that stands in the middle of the aisle and won't let you get by, and a check out line so long it feels like the apocalypse is coming, and you'll probably get a rough idea of what it's like to shop here.
As I step into this Bargain Basement of a dungeon, I remind myself every time that the new dress shirt I'm getting for $7.99 is worth risking my life and limbs for -- and I imagine you might feel the same with our economy in the toilet as it is. Just don't say I didn't warn ya.

How in the hell can a 1st-seed team be ELIMINATED IN THE FIRST ROUND of the playoffs by an 8th-seeded team ??
What is wrong with you ??
This is the 4TH YEAR IN A ROW that you've been eliminated from the playoffs...
San Jose - as much as I want to like you and root for you - I COMPLETELY GIVE UP !!!
You suck, period !

I've been renting here for years, and I've never had a problem. They've got a large selection - even foreign language and gay films, which can be hard to find sometimes.
Staff is friendly, courteous, and very helpful if you need it.
Even late fees here are awesome - they can be halved on Thursdays - so, what more could you want?
Staff is courteous.
It's a great place to hang out, grab a beer or so, and relax. Not really a place to "take anybody home" from, but still, you can't go wrong here.

I've been coming here for over thirteen years - (starting when they were over on Geary Street) and I cringe at the thought of going anywhere else to get my hair cut.
Kenny is a miracle worker of a stylist that can turn any mop of unruly hair into a masterpiece. Even mine. :o)
If I was on the other side of the world and needed my hair cut, I'd fly Kenny over from San Francisco just to do my hair - he's that good.

And I must admit, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
The staff was helpful and courteous, and my haircut was done well.
No big complaints.
Only con: my sideburns were cut way to short, and as a result, I had to shorten their length when I got home.
Big plus: the PRICES ! (only $8). :o)
So it's a great deal if you're on a budget.

I was hungering for a slice of apple pie from Table Talk. A sort of "dessert after dessert" , if you know what I mean.
But, they were out - except for lemon. So, I sighed and bought that instead. Chinese dude working the counter was polite, but acted like he wanted to be elsewhere.
Took the pie home, opened it up, bit into it, and it was the NASTIEST FUCKING PIE I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED..
The inside was shriveled up and hard as a rock... totally inedible... Now I'm peeved... WTF??? How long has this thing been sitting on your dusty, dirty shelves ?? I wondered...
Table Talk is a great brand, but 7-eleven sucks ass...
Rotate your stock correctly next time, buddy...
