303 Taxi Llc

The airlines may be unreliable, but you can always count on 303 Taxi.  If you live in the northern suburbs, the are the absolute best taxi service.  Always on time, clean, and no hassles about price.

I just landed at O'Hare, and it took about 15 minutes for the taxi to arrive.  Since the cab is dispatched to pick up you specifically you don't have to worry about waiting in line.

You can also pre-book your taxi online.  Once you've made your reservation you'll receive a text message once your cab is dispatched.  That way you know exactly who is picking you up.  So awesome!

Wow!  Wasn't expecting much from this place at all, but it ended up being a nice spot to visit for lunch.  The cheese pizza was quite tasty.  The crust was very crispy, but the top of the pizza was still chewy.  At $2.25 a slice, this is a great deal!!

The restaurant itself is very, very casual.  It's more of a stop in for lunch kind of place than a sit down for dinner kind of place.  If ya know what I mean...

Enterprise Rent A Car

Renting a car has always freaked me out.  I'm scared I'll crash the car, or it will be stolen, or someone will vandalize it, and then I'll owe the company thousands of dollars.  Even though I know our insurance covers everything that could go wrong with a rental car, I still feel an overwhelming sense of guilt when I decline extra coverage.

If I'd had kids when I was 15 years old, the people that work here could be my children.  That does not put me at ease at all.  Don't get me wrong, these kids are just as nice as can be, professionally dressed, and very helpful.  I know that Enterprise has an awesome internship program, and that these kids know their stuff.

It just freaks me out that they're kids.  Would they know what to do if something went wrong?

Anyway, my experience with this Enterprise was very average.  I got a great rate for the weekend, and I wanted to keep my car for an extra six hours.  Unfortunately, that would have cost way more than I was paying per day to rent the car.  Kind of a bummer.

I was also annoyed because the kid working at the desk when I returned the car let someone cut in front of me because he was being really pushy.

The location was very convenient, inside the Hyatt Regency hotel.

Mi Amigo's Mexican Grill

Looking for generic Mexican food that's been americanized?  Look no further than Mi Amigos.  The enchiladas were quite yummy, and I enjoyed the strawberry lemonade.  Service was good, and the waitress was nice enough to give our group separate checks.

My only complaints were no refills on the strawberry lemonade, and the name of the restaurant kind of bothers me.  Why is it Mi Amigos?  Is there supposed to be an apostrophe in there?  If not, why isn't it Mis Amigos?

Ticoz Resto-Bar

Think you're going to get authentic Costa Rican food here?  Think again, sucka!  Having said that, Ticoz has some delicious, food-snobbed-up Latin American food that is so worth the drive to get to.  Just don't expect to get a Medio Casado here, okay?

As other reviewers have said, the mojitos are amazing, and they're just the thing to help you cool down from the Phoenix heat.

I wasn't that hungry when we came here, so I just ordered a tortilla soup and a side order tamale.  Holy moley!  The soup was gigantic, and the tamale was served in a bowl that way surpassed side-order size.

The decor was really cool and the place had a nice atmosphere to it.  It seemed a little more dressy than some of the other restaurants in Phoenix.

The hostess was really nice, and the waiter was cordial, but not overly friendly.  I would definitely come back again.

Thai Elephant - CLOSED

Right after landing in Phoenix, we came down to this restaurant for a nice lunch.  Unfortunately they didn't open until noon, so we had to wait outside for a little while, which was kind of hot.

We ventured over to the Phoenix ambassador's office right next door, and killed some time by talking to them about the downtown area.  It was well worth it, because they were full of useful tips and gave us some sweet coupons.  Having talked to them made our stay in downtown Phoenix so much better!

Thai Elephant has yummy food and slow service.  I had the Panang Curry, and it was delicious.  I wasn't in the mood for spicy food at all, and the cook made sure that the dish was mild, mild, mild.

For some reason, the thing that will stick out in my mind about this place is the pens they use.  They've taped a plastic spoon to the end of each of their pens, making it really tough to walk off with by accident.  How very smart of you, Thai Elephant!

Seamus McCaffrey's is a generic Irish pub in the middle of downtown Phoenix.  The fish and chips and chicken pot pies are good, but nothing completely fabulous.

We went here for lunch, and the staff was nice, the food came quick, and it was a nice relaxed atmosphere.  This isn't a place that I'd go crazy recommending to friends, but if you need lunch, it does the trick.

Thai Thai Restaurant

Mmmmm!  I love Thai Thai for delivery.

Coming from the city, we were worried that we wouldn't be able to find good Thai food in the suburbs.  This place doesn't have the most wonderful food, but it's pretty darn good.

Delivery is always quick, and the delivery guys are really nice.  Now they have an ordering feature on their website, which has been a godsend.  I can order dinner from work, and it's usually at our house by the time I get home.  The online ordering also cuts down on miscommunications about the order, so you end up getting what you really ordered.  Always a bonus!

Thai Thai also has coupons for free things like spring rolls or pad thai if you spend a certain amount.  And, the food makes for great leftovers the next day.

Motherhood Maternity Outlet

When I first got to this store, I saw a lot of plaid and stuff I was going to have to iron, and I almost left.  Luckily I had a great friend with me who helped by searching through the racks for the wash-and-wear mumus I was so craving.

It had gotten to the point where I am uncomfortable in everything.  Even the maternity shorts and t-shirts I bought earlier this summer were driving me nuts. I was out-of-town, had time to burn, and I'd had it with trying to suck myself into outfits.

In comes the Motherhood Maternity Outlet in Tempe.   I think I hit this place just at the right time, but it seemed like everything was on sale.  They have clothes from Motherhood Maternity, Pea in the Pod, and the old Mimi Maternity stuff too.

It definitely pays to go through the racks thouroughly.  If I would have given up early on, I would have missed out on some good stuff.  I bought a ton of dresses ranging in price from $8 to $68, and I'm so happy with all of my purchases.

There was only one person working at the store, and she was super nice and helpful, but she wasn't able to help us individually as much because she had to deal with the whole store by herself.  That was the only downfall of this place.  And the fact that you do have to dig through some of the crazy ugly maternity clothes to find your gems.

If you've reached your maternity clothes breaking point, find a good friend and check this store out.
