I have been very happy with the cozy-but-industrial Galt location for a couple of years now, and am really excited to try the new Sacramento Squeeze Inn, because I had vowed never to return to the original Squeeze.

Overrated and uncomfortable, hopefully the ADA lawsuit will force owners to move to a better location with more seating, similar to the Galt location.

Why is this place being hyped so darn much, online? You'd think they were burger nirvana or something like that.
Yes, the fries are incredible and the burgers are good...... but do you HAVE to be so uncomfortable while eating them? You see, the entire seating capacity of The Squeeze Inn (inside) is 8 cramped stools at a lunch counter. The counter is way high, even for a 6' 1" person like me. Now remember that Sacramentans are much wider than 20 years ago when the Squeeze was built, and you've got a very crowded feeling indeed!
We found them rather pricey when you consider the surroundings you're forced to eat the food in.....
On the plus side, there are plans under way to build a new Squeeze Inn in the town of Galt, CA......it will have cozy booths and comfortable tables. I'm looking forward to visiting the new location! Until then I'm going to have to decline further visits to the original Squeeze Inn.
Meanwhile, since the new location doesn't open until February 14, don't be surprised if the Galt store gets mobbed (since it will be the only Squeeze Inn for nearly a week).

ADA and DJ-MC approved! Highly recommended, if you want "Squeeze Inn" quality along with restaurant-style comfort. The Galt location is the prototype for what (I hope) could be the new Squeeze location in Sacramento.

STILL AWESOME, still plenty of room to move around.......and they have table service with live waitresses!
the very large oak bar & brass rail looks like it was pulled out of a defunct restaurant, it doesn't look like it belongs there.
At 2:30 pm on a Thursday, EVERY TABLE was full. Lots of travelers (on Hwy 99) seem to be finding the new Squeeze location.
My daughter was very observant when she mentioned that the "Squeeze With Cheese" ($5.80) is the gastronomic and pricing equivalent of "Two In N' Out Double Doubles." (glad to know that Berkeley education is paying off!) -

Finally, a Squeeze Inn that I can love as much as Guy Fieri does
This one doesn't look and smell like a rat hole! You don't sit elbow-to-elbow with other diners. This one has CLEAN rest rooms.
Its the same Great Food, with some room to move around.
When I take my daughter to/from college (in Berkeley), I'm now deliberately routing my trip thru Antioch (on Highways 160 & Highway 12) thru Lodi & taking Hwy 99 north to Galt....... Its a little longer (mileage), but I avoid the bumper-to-bumper mess on I-80 and actually SAVE TIME --- AND we get to have our Squeeze Burgers too.
Highly recommended if you can't handle the claustrophobia at the Original Squeeze!

Willie's Hamburgers and Chiliburgers
Category: Burgers
1) They are always open late at night, when I just happen to be passing through Sacramento and its 1:30 am. And they won't kill me.
2) The Hammer DCC (double patty, greasy chili) always satisfies this late night cholesterol craving.
Don't get me wrong, I would probably rate In-N-Out slightly higher, but they don't stay open as late and there are no chili burgers or chili cheese fries!

Still awesome, the best chiliburger in Sacramento......also one of your best late-night dining options in the downtown or midtown areas.

I've been coming here a lot lately......they are the only place open at 2 am.
Service has been excellent, they are keeping the place cleaner and I've continued to be amazed by the freshness of the ingredients.
Even when the joint is full (every single table is full at 2 o'clock in the morning), they crank out the burgers very quickly and efficiently. -

My last two visits, I've ordered the SLAMMER DC with "no salt" ($4).
Both times, the meat was cooked properly, not overdone, and the chili was outstanding! Big slices of tomato, and everything really tasted fresh and not too salty!!! (I have been doing this at In N' Out, and noticed a huge improvement in the meat's texture and flavor, less dried out and juicier!).
Just say "NO SALT" when you order the burgers, and I guarantee that your food will taste better (there is plenty of salt in the chili, the mustard/ketchup and/or cheese).
My latest experience at Willies was comparable to what I remember in the mid-80's (when they established their reputation). -

Willie's has been taking a beating lately from the Yelp folks.
Yes, its very overrated.....but then again so is the Squeeze Inn.
I made another visit on January 4, 2008, after a failed attempt to visit Suzie Burger (closed due to power outage and roof leaking).
Had the Double Patty burger with chili. It was as good as I remember, but still think the Arden location is slightly better.
On this particular day, at 2:35 pm (middle of the day, not a lunch rush).....WILLIE'S was mobbed. There was a huge line at the cashier, and every table was full. It reminded me of Willie's heyday, back when I used to live near Curtis Park.
The couple sitting next to me, came from FORD's, whose power also had gone out that day. We all agreed that Willie's is more like a "second choice," a reliably standby when disasters strike other places.
I would give them 3.5 stars if it were possible.

http://MurderProd..., also known as Ebright Entertainment Enterprises ----(or as http://MurderCape...), has been entertaining Northern California events for over thirty years! I know this on a personal basis because the owner, Scott Ebright had a strong presence in the Sacramento area during the 1980's through 2003.
Scott was always one of my idols in the DJ business..... I was disappointed to hear that he was retired from the Disc Jockey world, but knew he had graduated up to producing Murder Mystery shows throughout the United States, and especially in Northern California. He writes and directs the plays himself, and he has an impressive troupe of TV and Movie actors that he selects small ensembles from to perform various parties.
My wife Lorena (who works for Bank of America) recently attended a company function which involved a Murder Mystery Production from Ebright Entertainment.
She was really impressed by the quality of the production, and everyone in her group had a great time (this is hearsay, but if a bunch of bank vice presidents can be entertained, who am I to argue with my sweetie pie?)
Anyway, if you're planning an interactive corporate event with a "bang," my wife highly recommends Scott Ebright's Murder Productions! (And I can recommend him too, as a friend and entertainer).
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
What could they do to earn my five stars:
1) Don't ration the bread! Bring more and thicker slices to the table. Shouldn't have to ask for them to bring more.
2) Fill up the entree plates with more food! Yes, americans are getting fatter and fatter so maybe the owners are on a mission to see folks get thinner. But when you're charging $20 a plate and there's no soup or salad included in the price, please give more ample portions.
Despite the smallish servings and the chintzy bread rationing, I would still recommend this place for deep-pocketed parental units looking for a nice place to take their evil spawn for a nice meal.
I guess, if you're still hungry -- there's always John's Dollar Scoop for ice cream!!!

John's Ice Cream
Category: Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt
Neighborhood: Downtown Berkeley
Homemade ice cream for only ONE DOLLAR per scoop.
I hope John decides to franchise his concept --- he will put Baskin Robbins & Ben/Jerry's out of business.
Tried the chocolate with chocolate ripple flavor, it was a very decent sized scoop for only $1, and the flavors were right on the money. I'd say better than Dreyer's or Hagen Daz, and a hellava lot cheaper.
The cone was not your typical cheap Thrifty Drug store cone--- a very nice pointy sugar cone. The cone was full of ice cream, they do a great job of anchoring the ice cream to the inside of the cone (one of my pet peeves is an empty cone when you finish the scoop on top).
I wish they had a John's Dollar Scoop in Sacramento or Davis--- I would probably go there once a week. I'd probably spend more in gasoline than the ice cream cone, but who cares?
Fantastic value--- probably the BEST DEAL IN BERKELEY.
The only complaint is parking.......its nonexistent! Oh well, most of those starving students don't have cars anyway....LOL
What's really great, is that the same prices you'll find as his Denio's booth, except you don't have to pay $3 to park your car.
I found some genuine bargains in this joint, including some ballpoint pens (12 for $1), a heavy duty can crusher ($5), and some Terro ant baits ($1).
What is guaranteed, you will NOT leave this store empty handed. I'm going to have to check in on a regular basis, because they get new merchandise daily!
Although we made reservations, it was probably not needed as they were about half full that day.
We selected the Ahi Lettuce Wrap to split as an appetizer. We were impressed by all of the flavors, and the quantity of this plate (its also a lunch entree).
After this impressive start, we were ready for the Petite Filet entree. When they say "petite," they really mean it. Its probably 6 oz..... Had we not done the Ahi Wrap to start off, it would have been prudent to order the regular size! Needless to say, the quality of the meat was really high, and they cooked it perfectly as we ordered "medium rare". Offsetting the smallish meat portion, was a huge slab of potato casserole au gratin......I've seen this dish served at their wedding buffets, its like moussaka without the meat.......the potatoes are almost like a main dish, they're really great. My wife couldn't finish hers...... the vegetables were perfectly al dente. My only complaint is they put the same creamy sauce on the potato casserole as they put on the Filet.......next time I'll say "sauce on the side."
The server was truly attentive without hovering.....she really did an excellent job as did the busboys and hosting staff.
If you're in the Placerville area, you cannot do better than the Sequoia.
Its not cheap, but its probably one of the nicest places to have a wedding reception!

Filipino food is excellent, I tried the Chicken Adobo with Pancit and Rice, very tasty and my wife had the Salmon Teriyaki ($7.29) which she loved.
Best of all, my wife DID NOT GET SICK at this place. Usually most asian restaurants use a lot of Sodium, MSG and other additives which cause her to get headaches and nausea.
The owners were very friendly to us and they brought out a sample dish of their Tempura........I was afraid to order it because some Tempura Batters have MSG -- but theirs is very good and no side-effects.
This restaurant has been here for FIVE YEARS. In the food service industry, over 90% of all restaurants FAIL in the first five years of operation.
The fact that "Teriyaki Station" has survived for that long in the worst economic recession EVER, this proves (to me) that they are doing a great job.
When you're shopping at Folsom Outlets, this is the best place in the area for a quick asian meal for a reasonable price!
