The City of Tigard celebrated it's 50th year on September 11th, so my son and I enjoyed their free cake and beverage. The Community Room was a wonderful location to have this celebration event.

I've met several people from NetBiz over the past two years through our Tualatin Chamber of Commerce. Rory Kaluza from NetBiz volunteered to help the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce improve their page ranking by writing up a detailed report for optimizing the site. We've followed their advice and are enjoying more visits as measured by Google Analytics.

Clark Lumber and True Value Hardware

Yesterday I stumbled upon the annual BBQ at Clark Lumber, enjoying a hot dog with all the fixin's and a water. They also had a car cruise in, plus door prizes from vendors.

We found this last year around the same weekend in May.

I was installing my dishwasher today and realized that I needed two metal brackets to keep the dishwasher from moving around in the cabinet. A quick trip to my favorite local hardware store produced two brackets and mounting bolts that would fit perfectly.
The folks here really know how to help me out in getting just the right thing for my weekend projects around the house. I prefer this approach over The Home Depot.
I also love the free popcorn.

I've heard about the VFW over the years from my friend Dale Potts, so I finally decided to visit the local Tualatin VFW. I was pleasantly surprised to see the quality of their new building with it's areas for eating and meeting, big screen TV, and free WiFi. Every Thursday morning they have a breakfast from 7:30AM to 8:30AM where you can meet veterans and friends of veterans. I even joined the Men's Auxiliary because my father served in both WWII and Korea.

Update - 4/20/2010

My 24" iMac was diagnosed with faulty RAM and the tech told me that Corsair offered a lifetime warranty. I phoned Fry's where I bought the RAM and they said that it was past 30 days of purchase however a manager relented and allowed me to swap out my faulty RAM for new RAM.

I'm delighted and my iMac is working again.

I needed a new external backup hard drive for my laptop so I visited the store yesterday and bought a 2.5" drive with 500GB of space, plus an enclosure.

The clerk knew exactly what I needed and showed me all of the choices. Very helpful and I'll buy from Fry's again.

My 24" iMac stopped ejecting the DVD and wouldn't turn off. Dropped off my iMac on Monday, picked up on Wednesday. Really helpful tech staff kept me updated on what they were testing and what could be wrong. They found that my RAM was defective and that the supplier offered a lifetime warranty. They also re-installed the OS because it had become corrupted. Charged me $0, wow!

My wife and I just spent a few hours at the Canteen tonight to:

* Meet new friends, including an adorable Maltese dog named Snowball
* Play cards (she won)
* Listen to Country music
* Enjoy drinks and dinner

Nina runs the bar and food, she's fun, a good cook and keeps the place humming.

I just joined the Men's Auxiliary a week ago and have met some very interesting people of all ages at the VFW.

My wife and I visited Claim Jumper two weeks ago during Happy Hour to enjoy some appetizers and dessert. When I found out that published hours for Happy Hour were no longer being offered I mentioned my displeasure.
To our pleasant surprise our server later returned and let us know that our food would be honored at Happy Hour prices plus my dessert was free.
What a splendid way to honor the customer and make me loyal for life.

My wife and I drove into the parking lot this last Friday night and there was plenty of parking, maybe that should have been a clue to me.

We we're promptly greeted and seated at a nice-looking table with granite top and window view.

A waiter with the thickest Italian accent that I've ever heard took our drink order, pour water and delivered bread.

We both ordered a Penne dish, mine with sausage and her's with meatballs.

We waited 35 minutes for the food to arrive, which felt like 20 minutes too long.

My wife's plate had a single meatball, and we just both looked at each other in amazement. One meatball?

The bill totaled over $50 with tip and we felt that was simply too pricey for the food quality and service.
