This bar is a favorite amongst my friends. I've had lots of good times there but I typically go for special occasions. So far santa rampage and for halloween. Drinks are reasonable I got a bloody mary for 4.95

awesome patio deck, also liked the really simple menu. I think i would have given it a higher review had it been a bit cheaper. ALso its BYOB
Little on the pricey side for mexican food. I ordered a Migas Burrito (not on the menu) with an iced tea came out to be around 8 dollars. By far not the best but good. I was expecting authentic mexican but its more americanized. I did enjoy the Jalapeño Ranch sauce. Its worth a shot :)

This place is a must see! From the outside I was a little hmmm... but once you step in its another world. Decor fills up the room from the taxadermed animal heads to the civil war memorabilia hanging in the back. Seating was unique about two sections each with about 15 seats facing inward. Animal pelts like zebra add a nice touch. If you are PETA not the place for you! Their menu is incredibly simple mostly soups, salads, burgers, and sandwiches. Also they have daily specials that are not advertised (would've tried one of those) got a Reuben instead. I was 7.99 i believe. Since the are I was sitting at didn't have a table the waitress brought me one. Its one of those fold out trays. The sandwich itself I've definitely had better but I'm comparing it to some of the most famous deli's in America. The potato chips surprised me they were fresh made with pretzel salt.
Owner was a great guy came up to me and introduced himself. We got into a conversation of vintage cigars. I had not known that cigars were aged up into the hundreds of years.
Great experience. Check it out.

Po' Melvin's Down Home Cooking
Category: American (Traditional)
The first thing that caught my eye when I walked in was all celebrity autographed photos. Did they all eat there? Usually that is the case. Amongst them were Muhammad, Jim Johnson, and George Foreman.
I was ushered in by the owner Melvin "first time here?", it was. So he gave me an amouage bouche of mash potatoes with pot roast gravy. This was the most amazing bowl of mash potatoes. What set it off was the gravy with chunks of shredded roast beef in it.
Our sever was one of the most attentive I had in a while he pre-bussed four times! I ordered fried pork chops (you get 2) with fried okra, mash potatoes, and house salad. 8.49 my shiner in an 18 oz chaise was 3.25 not bad. The other entree was chicken and dumplings which I found so far to be amongst the top 10 I've ever had. 7.99
This place is a true easter egg. I highly recommend it. If I had to be critical it would be that the decor needs to be updated. But the resteraunt is clean all the while maintaining a smoking section.

As far as the food I will take a shit on that place! Drink specials are the saving grace! This place is sneaky it makes itself out to be a nice upscale sushi place. But think of it more like a bar. Rather a college bar. All the drinks scream cheap (as in night train with koolade) but they are actually cheap. I saw a sad lonely looking DJ booth calling my name but there's one of those there to. I don't know what they play but based on the artificial fruit flavor spiked drinks, and a sign that says 1 dollar extra for crown and goose. I'd say it for sure hiphop!
Waitress sucked, defiantly had this cocky attitude like she's hot shit. meh was a 6 when i walked in a 3 when i walked out. LOL bad sign when during what should be their lunch rush all the wait staff and bartenders are gossiping in the front smoking ciggs then when they see a customer (me) walking up they abashedly put them out and run to their stations. I laughed inside a little and was like dance monkey's dance!
Oh yea their food. Ordered tempura roll, tornado roll, firecracker roll, tuna, yellow tail, salmon, side of sake whatever the waitress thought i'd like best and a beer chaser (hey they are 1.50 don't judge)
anyways sake with artificial apple flavoring was duke! I guess if i spent my life in the ghetto I would've said mmm very nice reminds me of that time I was trying to survive a bush economy jobless drinking night-train cut with koolade. F
tempura roll worst I'VE EVERHAD who puts holiday cheer flavorings in teryaki sauce. Not sure what was in it, but it tasted like it had cinnamon, nutmeg, and it had that shiny thick texture adding cornstarch does. F
Firecracker roll (i think? its the one with the crawfish on the specials menu) WOW not as much of a blazing pile of crap as the first roll but pretty bad either way. Why? had this brown chunky sauce of bland and spicy. How can something by bland and spicy? I don't know try this and find out.
Enough of this place. I'll only return for the drink specials or if I meet a drunk WOO! girl. (that drunk obnoxiously loud group of hotties in the corner your thinking about banging but at the same time not)

COME HERE FIRST! I made the mistake of going to a place closer to my house. A few of the items here are way cheaper like Carboys. Although not on their website they have used ones for 20 and its glass so just clean and your good to go have to clean out a new one anyways!
All the people were super friendly and attentive they all walked me through what it would take the brew beer for the first time. DO check them out.

I feel like a dick for not having reviewed sooner but this place is awesome! The owner was extremely helpful and nice, even though I was being one of those totally annoying ask about everything customers. Soon after her husband came in and we started to talk about a party they were going to throw the following night. They were awesome they even offered me a DJ gig playing fidget house! Unfortunately I had to fly out the next day and wouldn't be in town for that. The items they have there are completely unique and you would never be able to find them anywhere else.
Also its tucked away at the end of old china town (which is an adventure in itself) in the back alley is a nice bar and a few other shops worth visiting. If your from out of town or have lived in LA for a while and burnt out on the same happenings check them out!

*disclaimer my review will be extremely biased as the service I got was a-typical
That said I had the chef cook me 3 entree's that were NOT on the menu. Very delicious and authentic. He cooked for me a korean dish which basically comes down to sweet and sour beef. However, it was made with all the authentic ingredients to make it real.
Next course I do not know what it is called but it was a sea cucumber dish very good all ingredients were fresh and well prepared.
Last dish is known to northern chinese and koreans as jah jah mein also called black bean noodles. Very well prepared and delish! Service was top notch and super attentive.
Also was thrilled by the fact that they serve you tea in a pot like at restaurants on the west coast.

I love costco from their generous return policies to their cheap prescriptions. Example sams's club on a particular presricption i needed
to have filled with NO insurance was 58 dollars 80 somthing at walgreens and CVS at costco they were a mere 27 dollars quite a bit of a difference. Costco however is not always the cheapest you just have to shop around but a lot of the times the added return policy which is a generous as Nordstroms, Sephoria make it worthwhile.
