Chicago French Market

I love this place - it really is a great addition to downtown. In the winter I stop in to pick up juice or something to eat in the morning. In the summer I like to pop up for lunch. The stalls are full of fresh organic produce, which is helpful for me too when I need to pick up something to mix in with dinner before I head home for the night.

Ordered three appetizers (potstickers, pork dumplings, spring rolls) and two dishes (chicken pad thai, drunken noodle with beef). We really enjoyed the dishes, but thought the appetizers could step it up a bit.

We've also ordered take out from Zen twice, and this seems consistent with what we've experienced in the past.

I can't help but give Rosded five stars. My wife and I either eat in or carry out once a week. A favorite night is grabbing dinner and seeing a movie at the Davis.

Love the pad thai, thom kha soup, pa nang curry (with tofu).

Kuma's Corner

In summary: totally killer

Loved the burger, mac and cheese and fries. Great selection of beers on tap and bottled. Good quality meat cooked to perfection. Love the names of the burgers and music playing. The guys in the kitchen look like they'd be good dudes to hang out with.

My wife thought fries could be hotter, but she is hard core about hot fries.

Can't wait to go back. Best burger in Chicago, hands down.

(Tip to the wait staff: If I ask for extra ketchup just give it to me. Your just going to have to come back and give it to me anyway when I ask for it again two minutes later. I love ketchup.)

UPDATE: I received a note from our server less than 24 hours later telling me I could have more ketchup. You can't beat this place.

One of my favorites in Chicago. You can't beat the deep dish (love that crust), and the thin is killer too. Great beer selection and good service.

My wife and I just tried Tiztal Cafe for the first time this morning. In summary: great service and great food.

Absolutely loved the oatmeal shake. I'm not a shake person, but had read about this from other reviewers and thought we'd give it a shot. Super tasty.

Had the chilaquiles - which I enjoyed.

My wife had a crepe similar to the Zehphyr omelet, which she enjoyed, but noted that it was not what she was expecting.

In summary: the perfect burger and killer fries

My wife and I really wanted for a great burger, and Polkers did not disappoint.  We both had the Bacon Cheddar Burger; I had the curly fries, she had the regular fries (we both though the curly were better). I also enjoyed the IPA beer on tap...yum.

The Grafton

I go to the Grafton about once every two months. I'm always happy with the food. Order a pint of Guiness plus the Grafton Burger w/Bacon, Pepper Jack Cheese and a fried egg on top....and order a side of curry for your fries. Not only will this be one of the best burgers you'll ever eat in the city, but the curry sauce is absolutely killer.

Service is pretty good, but note that this place is often packed so you'll have to wait for a table and standing room is a bit awkward.

Ordered take out this evening. Convenience high (we live a few blocks away), price low, food average.

Orange Chicken is pretty good, and Crab Rangoons are great. Would not recommend Shrimp w/Brocolli as it comes in a weird, jelly like sauce. Potstickers are huge (which is appreciated), but could be more crispy.

Cascadia Restaurant - CLOSED

My wife and I ate at Cascadia a few years back, and we absolutely loved the place. This was the first restaurant where were able to truly pair up food and wine. I'm surprised the sommelier didn't sit down and eat dinner with us as he spent a good chunk of time with us. The chef also came out and spoke to us between courses, which was nice. Thumbs up all around...can't wait to get back to Seattle and back to Cascadia.
