DMK Burger Bar

Update - 2/25/2011
So DMK has certainly upped the ante since I last reviewed. The #9 is my favorite.

The beer list is fantastic and if you'd like the cap from your Magic Hat #9 they can make that happen. Mine last night was "you get what you give, so don't forget to live." Thanks to the bartender and waitress that got that to me because it's an awesome cap!

The fries are delicious and so are the shakes. Fun place to have in the neighborhood!

DMK produced a solid burger. I guess I have been spoiled at create your own burger places in that they offer many options. This meant that I didn't feel that DMK had "enough" options.

My first suggestion to DMK would to eliminate the coming soon items on their menus. It made me feel like they had opened before they were really ready to be open.

I had the No. 1 - Aged Cheddar, Smoked Bacon, Charred Balsamic Red Onions, Rufus Teague's BBQ Sauce. It was solid, but again, because I am so used to having a million choices, I was disappointed I couldn't throw something a little spicier on there. (so my 2nd suggestion would be to let me have more control over my burger toppings! but, maybe they wanted to do something different)

The fries were good and gluten free (so my mom could enjoy them too, however our waitress indicated that they were thinking of changing them--don't do that DMK the gluten free people love sweet potato fries too!).

I also thought that the wine choices could be increased, as there was almost no selection at all. The restaurant was loud and with some communal tables, it made it very hard to hear. DMK was not open to cooking my burger medium-rare, but it was still a little pink.

Overall, this was a solid meal. DMK is a new place and I will certainly think about going back in a few months.

I am excited to have a Michael's in the neighborhood as it is a particularly handy store to have as a teacher.

I went in when I needed a particular item (a circular cookie cutter) very quickly. The store was clean, well organized and well staffed. I was offered help and taken right to where the product I needed was.

Checkout was very quick. I look forward to returning to this Michael's in the future.

Got delivery and it was a pretty seamless process. Ordered online, which always makes me nervous, but the system updated us on each step of the way.

I got the caprese salad the italiana salad. The Caprese was good, although I am not sure I needed the spinach underneath. You're given the option of a bread bowl or pita. The bread bowl got very soggy and the pita is less bread. Also had some of the pizza and it was very good.

Timber Lanes is a small town bowling alley right in Chicago. There are some regulars who you can tell are in Timber Lanes all the time, but they are friendly and welcoming. It was easy to find a ball and get shoes that fit. Women's balls are in a tiny room to the right when you enter the ball room.

It's a fun place to bowl and drink, but you need to be somewhat serious about bowling in order to fit in.

The Rec Room has the same food as Mary's, but is a more chill place to have drinks. Super friendly staff and great drinks. The Berry Punch special on Friday is wonderful.

A great addition to the neighborhood!

Stopped in here for a pedicure with a friend. We were greeted warmly and set right up. It took awhile to get the pedicures finished and a couple of different people took over.

A decent place to get a pedicure. I'd like to see them update their colors and try to get some of the smell minimized.

It was hard to believe this place was only open for about 3 weeks when we went in for lunch. They are running pretty smoothly.

Love the stemware and flatware.

For lunch I had the pulled pork, which was great. My dad had the grilled cheese and my mom had the chicken sandwich. All pretty good and came with a HUGE thing of fries. I had the sweet potato fries and they were delicious.

The patio was beautiful and had a nice arrangement of seating for different moods. As the menu expands, it'd be good to include some more southwestern style meals. The appetizers seem fun (pigs in a blanket!) and it looks like a nice place to enjoy drinks in the comfy chairs.

Grazie Pizzeria & Wine Bar

We came to Grazie because we couldn't get in at the Old Tortilla Factory. Had to shift our minds from Mexican to Italian, but we did okay! They have gluten free dough, but you have to call in the morning so that they can get it from their other restaurant (they should probably start making it at this location, too--and then advertise--it isn't often GF people get their pizza!!).

We split a caesar salad (huge), a meat and cheese plate (good) and the Toscana pizza (yummy, if a little soggy). Plenty of food for three people. Had some good wines and I had the organic wine Pinot Grigio, which was really nice.

I agree with other reviewers that one expects there to be more burgers given the menu-but that helped to make my decision easier. If you want more options, you could go for the plain burger and add on different fixings that you wanted.

I had the Sinburger (bacon, thousand island and cheddar-?), but I added avocado--yum!!

We had the truffle fries which were decadent. Overall, this was a nice lunch and reminded me of the Counter (which is a good thing!).

The inside of this restaurant (while loud) is super fun and wonderfully decorated. We were seated quickly inside (would have been a much longer wait for outside).

Our waiter (who looked like all the other waiters!) was fun and did a nice job. I had the ricotta gnocchi (over the prime rib pasta at the waiter's suggestion) and it was great. My parents split the steak and the pommes frites were delicious.

The anti pasti menu seemed fun and we would have indulged on other nights. I liked that while the meals were rich, none were too large.
