What a fun place to bring kids. It's right around the corner from the Miniature Museum. The kids loved their meals and I loved my burger. The vibe is very laid back with stuff for the kids to do including crayons and paper, games, and huge building blocks outside. I suppose older kids would like this stuff too. My wife said the iced chai tea was very strong. But I won't dock them for that since I don't like Chai tea.

Jury duty was made all better by a beer and fish and chips.

The staff were friendly. The atmosphere was dark except for the huge TVs on the walls. The fish and chips were great. They gave me so much I had to ask for more tartar sauce. I couldn't finish the fries. They were thick cut and very filling. You could easily share the fish and chips.

I'd come back if I have to do jury duty again but I wouldn't go out of my way to find this place.

Do not go here.

My wife brought in a ring to get reappraised for insurance and she was treated very poorly. She gave a man working there a copy of the original paperwork. All he had to do was copy what was already done, do the math for the value of the gold and diamond and sign it. He was going to charge $75 but she talked him down to $50. A month later he didn't do anything and ignored her when she asked about it. He then said that it wasn't worth his time.

One bad review might be an honest mistake. Two bad reviews, something is going wrong. If he gets more, maybe they will make him realize customers should come first.

Popcorn while you wait indoors. Nice girl behind the counter. Friendly workers. The service was only OK. They didn't go out of their way to make it perfect. They missed a lot. But the job was done quickly and courteously.

On a side note, I don't think a single one of them spoke Spanish. This is really too bad. None of the employees will have a future in the car washing business if they don't learn the language. I could actually talk to the person who was drying my car. The person who vacuumed my car told me where to go in a very clear Midwestern accent. I feel so bad for them. Who knows if this business will last. At all the best car washes I've been to, I never had to say a word and misunderstood everything I heard and ended up with a spotless car with clean carpets and not a spec of dust inside. They better start serving chips and salsa instead of popcorn if they want to get ahead.

The old owl...a fixture in Camarillo for generations.

I've been here a few times and each time it's been ok. I would consider it a hang on from the 70's and 80's mexican food for suburban white families. The room is very large and loud and used to be much more kitschy. They've toned it down a lot lately. Probably not the highest quality stuff but it's good for a family who doesn't want to spend a lot and wants some mexican food that isn't too crazy.

I didn't listen. The waitress said the plates were hot and I had to go and touch it. Hot Damn they were hot!

This is a little hole in the wall place near the police station and dominoes pizza that you would not expect to have such great food, but it does.

They give you chips and two types of salsa to start out with. Then there are some pickled veggies that were interesting. I tried the pepper and was squirming in my seat for a while. I liked to mix the spicy salsa with the less spicy. Again, sweating a little bit. I ordered beef and chicken tacos with rice and beans. My wife ordered a Chimy. We both loved our meals.

The service was great with very quick and HOT plates. The room was a bit dark but it made it a bit more romantic. I needed that since I was sweating like a pig filling up on iced tea trying to cool down. HA! I'm such a gringo.

Wine tasting, it's what you do for fun when you're old.

We stopped here on one of our wine excursions following recommendations from my sister-in-law.

From the outside you can tell that this place is making some money. They have an ultramodern design going on with metal and glass everywhere. The wooden horseshoe bar and nearby gift shop are nice. The views are great. What was not great was them running out of the wine we wanted to try (ditch digger). The ones we did try were not all that great. Also the service was not very good. The tasting was robotic and we were quickly dismissed. Goodbye. We were looking for a place to have a picnic lunch, but be warned: The ultra-nice patio is for wine club members only. You over there without your wine club membership, get out of here!

There are a few tables that are available for non-club members but those were full and we ended up going to Croad down the road and had a great picnic lunch on their patio with just as good a view.

I think they need a little more time to work on their recipes.

I was excited to hear of a local brewery opening. I occasionally have a beer or two and think it would be great to have a few local breweries in the area.

A buddy of mine and I went last month on a Friday after they opened and the place was packed. The customers all kind of reminded me of a Star Wars convention though, if you know what I mean. The place was loud and the snacks were small. The snacks being small bowls of a cracker/pretzel mix.

We sampled the longboard and frankly didn't like any of them. There was something weird that is hard to describe. My friend, who has brewed some batches of his own in the past, said they just needed more time to get the recipes right. Some were too carbonated and others were kind of skunky almost like the glasses weren't washed well. I couldn't diagnose the problem cause I haven't had a lot of bad beers before. Anyways, we still managed to get our buzz on and walked over to the Habit for dinner. We returned and bought a glass of the beer we least disliked and then, hoping that we could support them in their endeavors to produce better quality beer, we bought a growler of IPA. The beer didn't taste any better when it was at home though. But now we have a growler that we can refill when ever we go back.

I guess I've been spoiled with Stone and Firestone type brewery experiences. But I will come back when they improve the quality.

WARNING: go early to get your scones, they run out quick.

We went for the scones and the scones didn't let us down. They were the best scones I have ever had. I'm thinking they should open a Raging Sage up in the LA area so I can have easier access to the scones. The tea was all right, the space inside was a bit cramped and the counter for ordering and prepping your drink was tight. Patio was spacious though. The service was decent. We ordered scones and left.

CHILAQUILES! CHILAQUILES! CHILAQUILES!

After dropping off the wife at the airport I took the kids here for breakfast. The diner was packed for a Saturday morning and we waited a minute to get a booth. We got some orange juice and while the kids ordered their pancakes, eggs, bacon and bagel, I was deciding between the Louisiana Royale or Huevos Rancheros. Luckily the waiter recommended the Chilaquiles.

The kids breakfasts were typical but mine was out of this world good, lick the plate good. If you don't know what chilaquiles is, it's tortilla chips with eggs and salsa. Sounds simple, but it's how they prepared it that made the difference. Huevos Rancheros is basically a stack of layered corn tortillas with beans, eggs and salsa but they make their chilaquiles by taking tortilla chips and dipping them in scrabled eggs and then cooking them up and smothering them in salsa and cheese. Like breakfast nachos. Served with beans and rice, this is the perfect hangover helper.

Quick friendly service, a few TVs on the walls and outdoor seating. I'll be back if we are nearby again.
