can't say enough great things about this place.

our friends were getting married and my boy was the best man. this was where the tuxes were coming from. top notch service all the way.

so when we got married a little over a month later, the 1.5 hours trip down to san jose from sf was well worth it. the tux was absolutely perfect and the boy looked like a million bucks.

sure, it's got GREAT reviews. but i figured how good can a jewelry place actually be?

well color me IMPRESSED!

i went in for a simple engagement ring resizing and rafi invited me behind the counter to watch the magic. fast, efficient and the ring literally looks brand new (it's a family heirloom, 3 generations back) and since it was such a steal for the resizing, i am going to drag the fiance to buy me a nice piece of jewelry to celebrate!

i can't say enough great things. chabo's has me for life.

been here once before with friends, but we were fairly drunk when we got here... so i wasn't sure if i just imagined how awesome it was.

the escargot is all butter and yummy. the puff pastry is a fun, if messy touch. the foie gras salad, which shouldn't really count as a salad since the foie gras is like rinsing with listerine but instead of listerine... it's delicious fat. filet mignon was delightful and perfectly cooked. medium rare can get a bit scary for me, but it's literally perfect. i was disappointed to have to switch with the boy half-way through. but then the duck leg confit special was just as good!

honestly, in a blind taste test of here and cafe clovis in paris, i would have had a tough time figuring out with place was the actual parisian restaurant.

great price, great location, great ambiance.

my only complaint is that i can't eat french food for every meal.

i have grown and changed. i am no longer a smoker and i am getting my MBA.
zeitgeist has grown and changed too.  more yuppy clientele but more surly staff to match.

but i still love it. sigh, i think this is the real thing.

i think i worked up my hopes too high because i was slightly disappointed. i got the beef and cheese piroshky. by the end of it, i wasn't happy with it at all.

however, my boyfriend had no expectations and LOVED his beef and onion. so maybe it was just me.

i have to say, i will totally be back next time in seattle though. i really should try more of them before i make a final judgement (so how bad could it really have been?)

went here after PAX convention ended to celebrate. a friend had heard good things, so we decided this was the right place.  and it so was the right place.

we had a big party, last minute. but they were very nice about finding space for us. sure, we had to wait at the bar for a while but the delicious drinks (ginger spritzer & cucumber lemonade with some gin in it) and the appetizer sampler (smoked oysters were so goood!) made it fly by in no time.

- watermelon, feta and fennel salad: been wanting to try watermelon in a savory salad for a while. so good.
- dolmades: currants were a nice fancy touch. very traditional.
- squid kebabs: this was the least exciting.
- grandma dot's spaghetti: mmm... good.
- trout wrapped in grape leaves: SUPER good.
- suckling pork tagine: really incredible. let the flavors of the pork sing.
- smashed garlic potatoes: super simple and super good.

for desert, i had to go with the loukoumathes which were even better than my yaya's (grandmother in greek), which i didn't think was possible.

couldn't have asked for better service. even though we had a large group the waitress was more than happy to split our checks for us. everyone from the hostess, to the bartender, to the waitress were exceptional and even though we were just a bunch of kids (old kids... but still kids), we got top rate service.

i dunno who this tom douglas person is. but he's ok by me.

came in last night, excited to try a new place in the neighborhood.

were seated and given menus.  we waited for 10 minutes with nothing. no one to take our order, no one giving us water (it was hot) and no acknowledgement at all. we stared at the staff, we tried waving... nothing. so we left.

i will give it another go sometime, but it's not off to a good start.

I never knew car service could be so detailed, clean and not super expensive!

Came on a recommendation of my soon-to-be father-in-law and I have finally found a car repair place that I trust and would happily recommend. Course I am selling my car to go carless but that's the way it goes, isn't it?

We dropped off my car without an appointment and it took them a few days to get to it, but I didn't need my car in a hurry (and told them so).  When I came to pick it up, they explained everything in easy to understand terms, and didn't cost nearly as much as I imagined it would.  A+ service.  And crazy clean! A very professional and courteous environment.

I live in the city, but it's worth the trip out, imho.

pass this place on the way to the gym, so we decided to sabotage all those trips to the gym by going to dinner here.

we called 20 minutes before heading out and they reserved us 2 seats at the bar.  we got there and the host got us a glass of wine and we waited. and we didn't wait long, but he seemed so apologetic and concerned about how long we would wait, so he just gave us a table.  which was too nice.

foie gras terrine, real aioli and pomme frites. then duck confit, filet mignon. the cheese plate. creme carmel, flourless chocolate cake and espressos. fantastic food.

we went all out, but i could definitely see me popping in there to quickly share an appetizer and a glass of wine.

I go to eat here entirely too often, and I never regret it.
