What a ripoff.
After the Mrs. wanted family portraits we came with a coupon for some family portrait package (a few images and a mug for 15-20 bucks). We had a pretty decent photo session, followed by a session on the computer. Chris who was talking a mile a minute and kept calling me sir and my wife ma'am went through the photos and talked about packages. I asked about getting the image files and was told that the only way to get the image files is to buy a package of prints.
So we did - we spent $105 on pictures while being very rushed through the process. When we got home and got the CD we found low res images, when we called about the full resolution images they said we cannot have them and that were were told that.
We were never told anything of the sort, the whole business model is deceitful there is no contact page on their website (wonder why) just some address in NC.
So we wasted our time and money - live and learn.

Update - 8/16/2011
After my review I was contacted by the owner who told me she was sorry for my experience. At that point I already ordered my appliances from another vendor. I got very good information and recommendations from the owner regarding other appliances I was looking to buy and was overall happy with the experience. Prices were better this time as well.

Called to get prices for a few appliances for a remodel.
Was on hold and transferred for a while until a very abrupt person answered the phone.
She quoted me prices that were very high compared to other prices I heard before in other stores, all this while talking in a short tone of voice as if I did something to upset her.
I told her they came in pretty high and if they do a discount if I buy all the items from them (this is for about 6 or 7 appliances).
I was told the only way is if I showed her a written price from someone else. The conversation ended very abruptly after that (not by me).
Thanks but no thanks - much rather get your best prices out the gate an not play these games.
The other places I called were super nice especially for such a big purchase - gave me better price and followed up.
Spend your money elsewhere.    Show owner comment »

We went there for dinner with another couple on a Saturday night and had a reservation. We arrived earlier and had a drink at the bar, I selected a tequila from the menu which the bartender did not recognize but poured a healthy serving. We were seated promptly when our party arrived 15 minutes late in a corner hallway in the restaurant.
Our server seemed nice enough to start, we said we needed a few minutes to figure out what we wanted to drink and he disappeared for 20, all other staff avoided eye contact. Great way to start.
Since I didn't have partners for wine I ordered a glass of Granache which arrived lukewarm - I hate when that happens. I also hate sending stuff back so I sucked it up. The wine list looks great actually and seems like it was very well thought with great selections to complement the food - why would they store it somewhere warm i don't know.
We heard the portions are large so decided to split 2 appetizers and 3 entrees. We got 2 different versions of the menu with different items in each different which caused some confusion as we were trying to figure out what to order but we figured it out. We ordered house nachos and Crab Fundido to start. Both were very flavorful and well accepted by all.
For entrees we ordered Carnitas Tacos, the waiter told us it comes with 3 tacos and do we want to order another one - we happily said yes. When the food arrived, it came with 3 delicious tacos -oh waiter why do you tease us and then hurry up and disappear. We also order a dish of hanger steak skewered with onions with very nice beefy flavor and onions sweet and soft. Last entree we ordered was a crab enchilada which we loved.
We got a couple of deserts that were not memorable but not bad.
Throughout the meal we really had to make efforts to flag our waiter down which was annoying. We also had a noisy table next to us that left at some point and we could hear ourselves speak.
Bill was pretty reasonable.
Food was overall great - kudos to the kitchen.
Service was lacking.
Bar was promising but disappointing.
If I am in the area I might go back but would not make the trip especially, they need to get their front of the house in order.

The Art of Bread

I heard this place opened in my new hood and was excited to try it. I was looking for bank and saw the store so I stopped by.
The place smelled and looked delicious, the pastries in the display looked very appetizing and I wish I was able to try them all - alas need to get back to work so I decided to grab a sandwich to go.
I ordered the Parisian hot sandwich for lunch, it was very reasonable at $6.5 plus it came with a salad and a pastry.
I was presented with an appetizing tray of pastries a small tarte which ended up being really good, crispy and not too sweet. Definitely the highlight.
The sandwich itself was quite a disappointment. The bread was very well made, nice crust and bite and reminded me of the baguettes you get in Paris. However the sandwich had tons of overly sweet spread (mayonnaise?) that I did not like. Only a small part of the cheese was melted, the inside was completely cold and the bread was charred to a crisp on the outside (think charcoal).
The salad was about five leaves of green with a tahini based dressing, some of these leaves were wilted and this was packed in a big plastic container. It would have been better not to include with the lunch than to include a poor excuse for one. Reminded me of the side salad I got at Bistro St. Tropez last time I want for lunch but they did a much better job at it.
So it looks like the infrastructure is there but the execution and quality control are definitely not.
Hopefully these are start up problems will get figured out and resolved and maybe things will get better.
I will definitely stop by to try lunch again in a few days to see if that is the case and definitely buy some bread to go.

I keep forgetting how much I love this place.
It's a great neighborhood Thai-Latotian BYOB. The food is always flavorful and fresh.
We had chicken in spicy green curry today which had a very nice texture and spicy sour flavor with a sweet smell of coconut. We had some Chicken Pad-Thai that came very freshly made with a sweet tangy flavor. Thai dumplings for appetizers - yum.
Love it that it's quiet and peaceful there especially in the middle of the week. Love the great selection in the menu. Love the calm service by the same staff that has been there for ages and ages. Love it that it is a BYOB and you can have a quiet conversation at dinner witout having to top the table next to you.
And I love the sticky rice with Mango for desert.

A note about kids - we came with a toddler and they were very accomodating, had a booster seat and high chair and she loved the Pad-Thai.

Used them for a granite countertop in my house, less than half the price of kitchen magic nice product and decent workmenship.

They say you don't need to seal granite these days but my expereince was different with the countertop. Had to deal with some oil stains that happened because I left oil on the coutner. I was able to clean the stains with a commercial product (was a pain in the A*# but I got it).

I sealed the counter myself afterwards with a DuPont sealer.

At the end of the day - price and installation were good. Got a firm price from the get go including installation and a good quality sink at a great price compared to the home stores.

Better sealing would have been much better.

If you are local and in need of good looking low-cost granite definately use them.

If you need a fancy display room and like to pay for a bunch of extras go somewhere else...

What can I say about cement work - had a couple of projects with these guys. One in my south Philly back-yard where and one on the staircase coming to the house.
The first one was done a couple of years ago and still looks great. I shopped around the first time and they were one of the lowest priced for the project.
The second project was done today and I am still waiting for it to harden but so far so good:)
On both jobs he came with a big crew and was in and out very quickly, both jobs required moving though the house and they came in with tarps so our floor will not be messed by the cement.
Paul is a little rough around the edges (well very rough around the edges) but gets the job done with good prices and prompt work.

First of all the optometrist that works with the store was great. Got an appointment within 3 days. Staff was very nice exam was very pleasent as was the doctor.
Had a long wait in the store and the whole process of getting the glasses took forever. Between the eye exam, waiting for assistance and ordering the glasses over two and a half hours. I've gone through the same process in othe countries done in 30 minutes without making an appointment - I don't know why it's such a big deal in the US.
The staff was very helpful with looking up my insurance, letting me know what  they will pay etc.
Their famos "2 pairs for $100" is a bit of a bait and switch, it only works with certain lenses and certain prescriptions, will not apply for most people unless you want very think lenses on a very basic frame.
Their frame selection is just OK I got  a pair because I don't have time to go looking again but did not find anything I was crazy about.
Total cost for a no name glasses ended up being -
62 for the eye exam (insurance paid most of it), 116 for the glasses (insurance paid abour 30)
Will see how the glasses turn out in 3 to 5 days.

First of all - to be fair I am writing this on behalf of someone else who is not Internet savvy.

I did want to take the time to write because she came back crying from that place because of her experience and I think it's only fair to warn other potential clients.

She went for a wax of some sort which she described as extremely painful and traumatizing. The procedure was done in a dirty room with the door constantly being opened for other patrons to see.

The person doing the treatment was rude and inconsiderate, she ended up leaving mid treatment but was still forced to pay for her torture.

Buyer beware!

Been here a couple of time and for the most part we love this place.

The escargot appetizer was great, with panceta and green pees just perfect.

I had the pork 3 way dish which was very good but boy was it heavy. it was a super tender pork cheek, a piece of pork belly that was very crispy and deliciously porkish and 2 smoky saint Louis ribs with mustard and red cabbage.
My better half had a fish that was very good accompanied by mashed potatoes.

Neither of us were able to finish all the food and we could barely walk home...

Now being a very hot in May i wish the menu was more seasonal.
I tried to find an entre that will not be too heavy and there was nothing there - every one of the dishes seemed like something that will be a delight to eat when it's really cold out but will put you in a two day food coma if you eat it on a hot day.

I wish I could see some lighter preparations for the spring, some more use of spring veggies, leaner preparations of food.

Service was great - desert was very nice - a rhubarb and berry crumble - great and very much in season.

Bread was a day old cleverly disguised by being toasted - which somehow worked.

We decided unanimously we love this place but we will save it for October to March.
