Ferrell's is a landmark Hopkinsville institution. It's famous locally, and has even won awards, if memory serves. It's a classic "greasy spoon" burger joint, with minimal accommodations (6 bar stools) and a sparse menu -- not even any fries at this original, downtown Hopkinsville location. Whenever I recommend the place to out-of-towners, I caution them that the burgers are very thin, greasy and possibly not to everyone's taste, but time and again I'm surprised to find out they loved it, and seem to appreciate the nostalgic quality as much as we locals do. Ferrell's has been in operation at this same location since 1929, and when you step inside, it looks like nothing much has changed in all that time, and that's a large part of the charm and appeal.

Cancun Mexican Restaurant

My friends and I enjoy dining at Cancun at least once nearly every week. The staff is really from Mexico, so their English is limited, but they never miss an order, and are often very friendly and courteous. They know us so well, they sometimes have our usual beverages ready at our favorite table before we even get inside! The quality of the food is excellent, from the complimentary nachos served with in-house salsa, to the specialty dishes, everything is delicious and satisfying, with huge portions and bargain prices. Even though the selection, price and quality is nearly identical to their sister restaurant chain, El Bracero, we prefer the original Cancun for the more rustic, established ambiance, smaller crowds, and familiar staff.
