I'm still really happy with Dr. Kang & although I've NOT experienced any reception problems (as described in other reviews), I have noticed that they've gotten quite a bit friendlier as of late.

I waited until the last minute to make an appointment at our regular vet for Pet's health certificate to fly day after tomorrow.
I went to Yelp and called every vet hospital. Everyone was full and then I found one! They could see me at a convenient time before the travel! Yeay! To boot, the guy said things like "Awesome" when I gave my name. Hmm, a fellow California native? I was plussed.
I failed to look at the exact address but remembered that he guy said "between 15th and 16th" I drove toward Arguello... hmm...wait, this is only the 1200 block. I'd better put this in the GPS. SHIT!!!! It's on the OTHER side of the park!!!!! I'm gonna be late!!!! Luckily, I finally got to Arguello Pet Hospital! Parking, right in front! Yeay!
Got inside & they didn't have an appointment for me at 5pm. SHIT! We're flying in two days, we NEED that certificate! They looked me up and there was no record of me whatsoever. "Are you sure you have the right vet?" they asked? Uhm, yeah, I'm not stoopid, I thought. "What places are nearby?" I asked. The response was "Pets Unlimited" To me, PU seemed very far away. I assured her I was definitely in the right place.
While I waited, a woman with a (real or a really good one from Canal in NY) Hermes bag flounced in. In my opinion, a bit too long in the tooth to wear fishnets, but it was tastefully paired with a St. John's Knit..... anyway, I digress... she flounced in to spread Christmas Joy! She brought presents for the staff, the vet, etc. I figured that the staff & vets must be pretty special.
There happened to be an available vet though, so they still saw Pet. Everyone was nice. The vet was delightful. Intelligent, kind, carrying treats for Pet, and in general, just wonderful. I had expected her to rush because I didn't have an appointment that they could find. She didn't. Instead, she was very thorough and unrushed.
Halfway through the appointment I got a call on my mobile. Irving Pet Hospital was calling! Shit!!! I had missed my 5pm appointment with them. On Irving Street. Between 15th and 16th. Luckily, or rather, unluckily for perhaps the vet, an owner, and a pet, the vet was in emergency surgery. My appointment would need to be rescheduled.
So. My regular vet was too bizzy. I went the wrong way. I went to the wrong place. I figured out how to get somewhere. They wrong place took us. The right place cancelled us.
When it was time, I saddled up to the counter and realized I did not have my wallet! SHIT! Did I leave it at Walgreens? I just bought several three ounce travel cosmetic bottles and an OK! and a US! and another magazine that would turn my brain to mush. I just moved into a new purse. I teach in the Mission... Hmm.... where the EFF is that wallet?!?!
No one acted like I was a freak because I
a) went to the wrong vet.
b) carried my dog like a baby
c) forgot to bring payment
Yeay!
Someone would be there until 7pm!! When I returned with my wallet (on my desk at home) I was met with a fetching staff member who immediately recognized just how special *my* purse was! It's no Birkin....
This is my new vet for Pet.

Something here will take care of your hangover if the wait for a table doesn't kill you.
Very fun to explore. I wanted the Berlin Olympics ticket and Nixon seltzer mirror but instead walked away with several pairs of boots.

This was a weird find... lots of blondes, USC colors, guy pushing 29 with a hickey, beer bongs, chanting, service a bit off but seriously, very friendly.
Was this the same sushi I had for breakfast at Tsukiji Fish Market? Er, no. Did it taste good and have hella sauce? Did I get to see someone have a beer bong? Ok, ok, ok, did I get to see 5 people have a beer bong? Did I get to overhear someone say "The Chinatown in San Fran is VERY, VERY Chinese" while nodding seriously? To all, a resounding yes, YES, YES.
Will I be back? When I'm crashing in Manhattan Beach again, yes, YES, YES.
Generous seaweed salad. btw.
