The atmosphere is pretty and feminine, but a bit overkill and not cozy like I was hoping. The gift shop is great and has all kinds of unique things. In short, I would go back but probably only if invited.
We came here because we heard they had Drake's holiday brew, Jolly Roger, on tap. It wasn't ready yet so we settled on some other seasonals and were told by another patron in not so many words that Drake's sucks. Why, I never!
Anyways the pizza was not bad, although the crust was a bit well done.
Sadly, this is what happened the last time my boyfriend called for delivery. To be fair, I suppose there is no way to confirm that this actually went down, but without going into graphic detail, taking an order for a pizza is not that strenuous an activity. If you're going to mix business with pleasure you should at least be smart about it and give the customer some hold music.
Never again will we be ordering that f**k pizza.

I like der Pizza House's (that's what we call it) pizza quite a bit. I enjoy the fresh garlic topping and also their pepperoni in addition to the price. A double XL one topping pizza is $14.99. Not too shabby! I would give them 4 stars if they only delivered a bit faster and if this one particular incident did not happen. Let me elaborate.
Picture it...Sicily. No just kidding. Anyways it was a Sunday evening several months back. I was very, very hungry so we decided to order our typical XXL pizza that usually lasts a few days. After about the first hour and 15 minutes of waiting we decided to call and check what was going on. They told us it wouldn't be much longer or something like that. At this point, I am crazy hungry. It's all I can think about. Food, I need food, I must have food now! I decide the only way to cope is to drink. I proceed to drink all the leftover alcohol in the house (which isn't much, you know a little bit of this, a little bit of that). Hey, I was fuming mad and I needed to calm down. After several calls and being told that they may have given our pizza to someone else or the driver may have got lost among various other bullshit excuses, we tell them that our pizza needs to be free. You know the business practice of when you royally screw something up, you try to make it right? They tell us that they're going to charge us $8 and then we have to call the manager on her cell phone to try debate this. She tells us that we have to at least pay the cost of what it takes to make the pizza. Wow! We figure let's not argue with them any further because they might do something unsavory to the pizza, if they haven't already. After this saga, which is a total of THREE hours, they show up and expect us to sign. We take the pizza and tell them oh hell no we won't be signing. They say they're going to charge it anyways and we say we'll be disputing the charge. Sure enough I checked my bank statement a few days later and they absolutely did charge it. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a signature required to complete a transaction and isn't it illegal to charge something without one? Unfortunately, I never followed through with the dispute because WaMu (now Chase) makes you jump through hoops to get your money back and I'm lazy. All I know is wrong is wrong and they most certainly were WRONG!
So why the A-OK rating of 3 stars when they did all of that to us? Well we're almost over it. We've started ordering again after a couple months hiatus. I obviously haven't worked fully through the issue or else I wouldn't feel the need to write this, but I am trying. I still really enjoy their pizza and the price for what you get can't be beat. The breadsticks are good too, the mozzarella sticks not so much.

My favorite part was the carbs, of course. The noodles were buttery and had crispy bits of garlic. The rest was good and although I'm not typically a fan of fries, their Cajun ones were very nice. I'm going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. Perhaps I'll have to go again to make up my mind.
I promise that my review is in no way affected by this observation of one of their patrons, but I'd like to give a word of advice to the sports enthusiast in the front corner of the restaurant last night: Perhaps you were drunk, but the over and misuse of the f-word was a bit much. It was literally every other word and sounded ridiculous. I love the word and am no stranger to it, but in order for it to have it's intended affect it should be used appropriately. Show some fucking manners!
Initially I was irritated because although our waitress was great, there was a certain individual that just gave off such a snobby vibe. Since then everyone has been fantastic and we haven't had to encounter said person at all.
Despite thinking I wouldn't go back until I'd reached octogenarianism, I'm pleased that we gave it another shot. However, my original complaint about the unnecessary ice still stands and is probably my only reason for denying Trader Vic's 5 stars.

Don't take yourself so seriously, Trader Vic's! For a place that has images of boobies and people grinding on its menu, it sure was stuffy. We should have done some research prior to coming here but we thought it would be just a bit more lively. It was mostly families and older folks, not the happy hour crowd we expected. It was weirdly quiet in there, even when the staff sang "Happy Birthday" to one party. The seating was uncomfortable, especially considering that I was in a booth. I could deal with all of these things but there's one area where I draw the line. The use of excessive amounts of crushed ice in their drinks! I don't like filler and I am no fool, in this regard at least. This is a place that's known for their drinks and I'm appalled that they've really gotten by all this time using these practices.
Now before you go thinking I'm a total Negative Nancy, I can recognize the good just as well as the bad. See, look. The food (aside from the crackers, which were blah) was really good. We got Crab Rangoon to start, which is an automatic winner. Crab, cheese, fried...Yum! I had the Chai Tea Smoked Duck, which was also very delicious and had a great sauce. I wanted to lick my plate but I try to resist in public. The salmon was good too.
Perhaps I'll go back in my golden years when I'll fit in better.

Immediately after leaving Sonoma Chicken today, I was compelled to get on Yelp and write a review. It may sound very simple but one of the women, who I'm assuming is the owner, offered me a free iced tea and then said very sweetly and sincerely "I appreciate your business." Everyone who I've encountered here is just that nice and I believe it's very genuine. I hope they are wildly succesful because they deserve it.

The majority of people need to be convinced to try it. They think "chicken and waffles, how could that possibly taste good together?" Well I'm here to tell you that it's amazing and even when I was a chicken and waffles virgin, I knew it would be. I needed no silly convincing - I was ready, willing and able. A nice golden waffle, covered with a layer of butter, then topped with pieces of fried chicken and last but not least, doused with syrup and hot sauce, if you're feeling bold. You just can't go wrong!

It was nearly 3 years ago that Shadow first sketched my idea for me. Later that very day I shattered my elbow (the same arm that I was to get tattooed) and had to have major surgery. The whole thing really put a damper on my tattoo hopes, not to mention my life. About a year later I went back because I was finally ready, (or so I thought) but this time I was fresh from vacation and slightly sunburned, making me impossible to work on. Some time after that, the desire was still there, but coming to the realization that I had no job and no money, it just wasn't in the cards for me, yet again.
I've been thinking about the tattoo a lot lately and I finally got around to calling Shadow earlier last week. I found out that he's no longer at Gotham and now has his own private studio. He was able to fit me in for an appointment yesterday and the little tattoo that could started to become a reality. He wasn't sure that he still had my sketch, which is completely understandable since evidently, I am very flaky. I had a feeling he might come across it though, and when I got there, he had indeed found it.
His new space is very clean with lots of natural light, and the key word for me is private. Shadow is a great guy, with equal amounts patience and knowledge. He makes the whole experience so pleasant and will make sure that you are comfortable. He gives very detailed instructions on how to care for your work afterward. I don't recall having an experience anywhere close to this when I got my first one at some random shop in San Diego.
Shadow is an artist who genuinely cares about his clients and what he does. He is not hasty and will not just rush into something merely to get it done and make money. He wants to make sure that he does it right and that it is right for you.
Although it took me forever to finally get my simple little tattoo, I'm so happy that I did and am very satisfied with it. I've grown up some in the past few years and the thought of having it on my wrist was no longer appealing, opting instead to place it a bit higher on my arm. I guess the timing worked out for the best.
The moral of my story is go see Shadow!
The End.
