Town Lake Animal Center
Category: Animal Shelters
This was okay by me since it is an easy drive for weekend visits. But I was NOT okay living in a pet-less home! I turned to Town Lake to fix this problem. I went everyday to check out the animals. After a few heartbreaks, I found him. He was the most adorable puppy I have ever seen.(see picture) I couldn't pass him up, even though I was dead set on getting an older dog.
The adoption process was very easy and he came home 5 days later. I took him to a vet and he was doing fine. Clementine came up to meet the new addition. This was a mistake. New puppy (Swayze), had kennel cough and gave it to Clementine. This cost me two more vet visits, antibiotics, and snot all over my apartment.
That was three months ago and now I have a healthy and happy dog. He is super social and was potty trained in two days. I tell everyone where I got him and they are always so surprised. I think I hit the shelter dog lottery.

I have been back a couple of times and have been pleased with both the food and the service.
I've tried the small and large Pho. The small is definitely big enough for me. Their cream cheese wontons are amazing!

This place inspired my boston to swim on her own. Do you know how amazing that is? Have you ever seen a boston terrier try to swim? It really isn't swimming, more like fighting not to drown.
Yes, parking sucks. But I have never waited over 5 mins for someone to leave. Patience is a virtue.
Is it bad that I don't even smell the poop anymore? I don't think being immune to shit is a good thing.

The atmosphere sucks. It is way too sterile and the ordering process was too similar to herding cattle. The irony is pretty hilarious though.
The burger itself is actually really good. It was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Reminds me of the burgers Dad was so proud to cook in the backyard. And did I mention they use crinkle cut dill pickles????? I am very tempted to order some on the side next time...
What can I say that hasn't already been said about the fries? Yum.
Pass on the lemonade. It isn't that spectacular.

This was my first yelp event. It was fun and sweaty.
It was also my first time drinking whiskey....not a good idea when you have to be at work at 5am.
Thanks Yelp!

But the place had me the minute I walked in and saw the mexican pastries. Pink cake for an appetizer while I wait? Yes please.
It took around 15 minutes to get a table and another 30 to get our food. We had finished the last of the(free) chips and salsa when I spotted those beautiful tacos headed my way.
I had barbacoa and guacamole on corn, potato & egg, and a bean & cheese on flour. SO good. Oh, did I forget to mention these were on HOMEMADE tortillas? Finally!
My breakfast companion had the Huevos Rancheros with bacon. Not regular bacon. No. DEEP. FRIED. BACON. I was seriously considering ordering a side of it. (hi, i am fat) Instead, I decided to go back as soon as possible so I could enjoy that delectable treat again.

Having your oil changed in less time than it takes for a sweat stain to appear on your clothes in 90+ weather = Double Awesome.
Check these dudes out.
And you get a boston terrier to sit on your lap while you wait.
Can't beat that.

I expected to wait. It is a Saturday at 11am, of course there is going to be a wait. I am totally fine with this. What I hate is waiting for overpriced, mediocre food. Being busy is never an excuse for not delivering your best.
I had the burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was fine, nothing special. The fries were cold.
My dining partner had the pork chop and eggs special with a gingerbread pancake on the side. They gave us a regular pancake, which was also cold.
It was a bummer. I could have stayed at home and made a better breakfast.
4 stars for the waitstaff, they were awesome.
