Java Cow Creamery, Cafe & Bakery

This place definitely lives up to its name when you think of "Cow Creamery" because everything here is super super rich.

I didn't get any of their coffees here and I wanted to get a crepe but didn't see it on the menu despite them having crepe machines... so I went for a sampling of their ice creams before selecting a nice delicious waffle cone. They also offer fruit smoothies which are all fruit and no dairy for those of you who are lactose intolerant!

They didn't really give me any gripes about sampling more than 1 ice cream flavor, in fact, I sampled 3. But then again I already ordered the smoothie.... either way. The staff was friendly and I liked my ice cream very much. I highly recommend the oreo cookies and cream. YUM!

State Liquor Store

Out of all the liquor stores in Park City (there are 3 ... the other two are closer to Kimball Junction and/or Downtown respectively), this is the largest State liquor store and thus stocks the most volume and variety of liquor. Mostly, we were looking for beers, and were surprised to find they stocked some pretty high end offerings. They had many trappist beers from Belgium as well as local brews and specialty Sam Adams offerings. For a state that limits its beers in bars to 3.2%, it sure does not reflect in the liquor stores.

The prices were definitely a bit more, but considering the tax is lower (4.75%) and these are harder to find even in a state with normal liquor laws, I didn't mind too much. They even had a great selection of rare whiskeys and scotches, much to the delight of my group mates.

The staff is friendly and during Sundance you will OFTEN find celebrities here because they have to come here to buy liquor just like everyone else :).

Hello Julian McMahon! Hope you enjoyed the Orval....

This is a neat little shop on Main St in downtown Park City that sells designer and higher end brands as well as funky inspiring brands like WESC. You will also find a huge selection of TOM's shoes here for your philanthropic and shoe wearing purposes.

The store's staff is friendly and willing to give you the time of day even if you're looking at 3 pairs of shoes in 2 different sizes and they're not shy about recommending different things to give you an interactive shopping experience. I liked the layout, simple, effective, and they had a pretty good 50% off clearance going on in the back. Definitely a great place to shop or a cool spot to stop by when browsing downtown Park City.

Maxwell's

This is a rare occasion I find myself in when I think about Maxwell's as the local Park City pizza joint and just how many stars it deserves. For me, to give a pizza place 5 stars means they really have got something exceptional. That they are clearly a cut above the rest and have proven that pizza that isn't deep dish, can be, indeed, still delicious.

Mind you, I was never really the biggest fan of New York pizza even the few times I've had it. I mean, it's good ... but it's still pizza. Until Maxwell's changed my mind.

We came here on our last night in Park City because cooking just got tiring and I think we all just wanted some 3.2% beer to wash down the Niners loss ... so Yelp it goes for the best rated place in Park City and we found ourselves at the snowy doorstep of Maxwell's. We made a reservation in advance by about an hour so did not have to wait at all and were promptly seated when we arrived. The waitress put down some menu's and let us have it.

Their pizzas are phenomenal. And yes, 6 people can kill two 20 inch pizzas plus 2 pastas if they really tried! The pizzas came out hot, full of flavor and ingredients, loaded with sauce and just the right amount of cheese. The crust was delightfully NOT crunchy and hard like a brick, or burnt at all but cooked perfectly to a golden brown with that chewy dough-like flavor that makes for a great crust. The vegetarian choices were actually, in my opinion, better than their meat loaded pizzas which is a huge thumbs up for the combination of flavors and ingredients they used in the pizza.

But let's not forget ... they also make pasta. By they make pasta I mean ... they make it fresh in house every day! You can order a variety of different fresh made pastas with an even more variety of different sauces with toppings as well all at very reasonable prices. The fettucini with marinara was out of this world! It was so incredibly simple and yet so deliciously fresh and flavorful. If Italian tasted like this back home, I'd be fat!

I can't say more about how amazing this place is, and how it's changed my mind about New York style pizzas. I'd come back to Park City just for Maxwell's. It was that awesome.

Starbucks

Airport Starbucks often disappoint me because they don't have the full range of offerings as a normal Starbucks such as the wide varieties of tea and different special flavors of coffee... but also because they charge even more of an arm and a leg than a regular Starbucks join.

This may not be the same across the board, but usually a grande latte with soy will cost you around $4.80 at a normal Starbucks but costs a whooping $5.65+ in the airport. Of course, location matters and you'd pay more if you were at JFK ... but still. It's not like they make it any better. In fact, most of the time the latte is bitter and not as good ...

Regardless, the staff here is friendly, and will own up to their mistakes quickly if they make one and will happily remake you something.

Perhaps I'm a bit bias, but when it comes to BMW, I'm always a fan. BMW of Brussels carries on the strange European tradition I've seen where dealerships are smack dab in the middle of the shopping district next to Abercrombie & Fitch and Hermes instead of being out in the open like they are in the US with lots of cars and models to look at.

This BMW was clean, well kept and pristinely organized by a few M cars that were on display inside. The showroom was clean, the staff were friendly and they did not seem to mind that we were tourists peering in everywhere, getting our greasy little fingers on everything including the crystal clean glass.

The prices here are actually slightly cheaper than they would be in the US for an M car anyway ... not that you could really buy one here and then bring it back without European delivery but seems like a cool place to visit. I guess they keep the inventory stock outback or somewhere else in a parking garage because there was no room on this street for anything but some high end classy shopping and a practically museum-like BMW dealership.

This little new getaway in the middle of Salt Lake CIty is a perfect stop for some light pastries, yummy crepes and delicious coffee if you're in the area. The best part about it is that they're probably one of the only places open in town on a Sunday.

This part of town is more on the business side than not, so to find something open on a weekend is pretty rare. Cafe Metro is located within the Metro building and serves up sandwiches as well!

They do make a great espresso and their lattes are just the thing on a chilly winter afternoon to get you going again after those long Q&A sessions at Sundance! The Baristas are very friendly and there's plenty of room inside to relax, unwind and use the internet at your convenience.

I was a little surprised at this joint since I found it simply by looking up on Yelp after wandering around Shotwell's looking for some food.  This place is literally one block away and serves up a killer steal for authentic Mexican cuisine.

On Fridays, they have Menudo, a classic Mexican dish made with beef tripe into a spicy soup served on the side with limes, chili flakes and onions. This soup is delicious and very warming (not for those with faint stomachs!) on a cold winter night in SF.

The service is friendly, the prices are right and the portions are HUGE. You will not go home hungry. In fact, you will get a take out box, and be full into next Tuesday. Highly recommended are their soups and burritos.

SmokeEaters

3.0 star rating

This location of SmokeEaters is interesting because it used to be Cluck U or whatever name changes has occurred since the inception of this chicken location.

It's kind of small, so not good for large groups, and the TVs are abundant but not always facing the right direction. The Bar seats are not comfortable and most people don't come here to sit at the bar. Their beer choices are good, but again kind of a weird spot to be caught drinking.

The staff is nice, but sometimes the food comes out quickly and other times it takes forever even if you just ordered like 5 wings. You will find a lot of college kids at this location as well, lots of "stayers" so don't expect to find a seat during rush hour between 5 pm - 8 pm!

Sonoma Chicken

Category: American (New)

4.0 star rating
1/18/2012 1 Check-in Here
I think overall this Sonoma Chicken coop differs from the others a little bit because it's in such a business park type of area. I think it is nice to have around, but definitely due to all the business during lunch it isn't the best spot if you want some quick eats. This usually isn't the case with some of the other Sonomas during lunch because they don't get as packed.

The food here is ok, I would only come here for their name sake, the chicken, because everything else I think is a little bit over done, over salted or overly complicated. Their chicken remains the best thing at the end, and I mean the roast chicken not their chicken lime dishes. The cooking is hit or miss but it's still a fun spot to grab a few beers during happy hour after work.

At night though, this place is relatively empty and I would think so as well since many folks go home after work so you might find it to be a little eery after dark.
