This store is pretty nice. It's spacious and has a drive-thru. I like it! Unfortunately, this will be the closest store to Staunton once the Staunton, VA location (also with a drive-thru) closes this winter. That means a further drive to get a yummy Vivano or some espresso.

You can get a great steak, cooked to perfection and @ a decent price. Appetizers are good.
But there are a few cons that I must add in. They can get very crowded very quickly; I've known people who've waited 2 hours to get in. They're very popular, and to get a parking space and a maximum wait of 1 hour, your going to have to come a little early. Overall, I enjoy Texas Roadhouse. The Pick-Your-Steak option is nice, where you can pick your own steak from a "butchery-like freezer case" near the front of the restaurant. Good ol' Texas Roadhouse.

Panera Bread

The Pros: Great food, Decent prices, Friendly Team Members, Outdoor Seating, Electric Fireplace in the center of the restaurant, w/ couches around it
The cons: Not much parking, parking spaces are too close together, a traffic-riden location, the ordering system. They originally used the pager system (J-tech pagers), but recently have turned to the intercom, which means you are constantly listening to voices saying "xxx, your order is ready", which I find annoying and sort of distracting when you're having a conversation or just trying to relax. I would love to see the pager system come back!!!!
Otherwise, Panera is great!!!!!
But, the cart returns have yet to be replaced and from what I saw it looks as if they haven't replaced the old logo on the building with the new Walmart * logo.
I haven't been inside since I saw that they finally had new carts (I was just driving by), but I'll try to get by and see if they've done anything with the interior.
As far as the meat department, I've got to agree with Mandi B. The produce is fair, but I haven't experienced many problems with finding products in stock. Let's face it, there's a lot more to desire in the Walmart "Grocery" department than what is there right now.
My 2-star rating for Walmart speaks for itself: Meh. I've experienced better.

Well, it's been about 2 years since they remodeled the Staunton Walmart, but there still seem to be quite a few "old elements" lurking throughout the store and it's exterior. And it's check-out lines continue to be long and the parking lot full and the "one-way arrows" on the pavement wearing off. The carts are still the old ones from way back when & they still lack the new Walmart logo (the one with the starburst at the end) on their exterior logo. The cart returns are rusting and the checkout signs (the lane markers w/ lights and the register #) looking ancient compared to new modern ones included in the massive remodeling efforts that Walmart is currently going through to completely overhaul most of it's stores/supercenters with it's new logo and signage. I think that WMT made a mistake by remodeling this store earlier when it could've waited just about a year longer and made it look decent. The new floors are already getting scratched up (thanks to the old carts).

This Walmart had been in need of renovation ever since it opened in 1995. It finally got them after 13 years. They gave both inside and out a facelift. On the outside, they replaced the orginal entrance area with a new colonial style, (but still with entrance doors there). They also replaced the blue/gray scheme with a new tan/brown scheme. On the inside, they replaced the floor tiles, widened the aisles, used new signage and logos, replaced the aging cash registers, price scanners and checkout conveyer belts with new ones, and renovated the restrooms (they were in need of it bad). Here are the reason's im giving it a 3: 1.long lines at checkout (why are there 42 lanes and 6 open??????) 2. no self-checkout (i have to admit, their self-checkout system isn't wonderul in the 1st place, but it would allow for less staff and more checkout lanes, which would be nice). 3-Carts: they are continuing to use the aging 90's shopping carts that squeak, squeal and are very loud. 4-Cart Returns:some unremodeled walmarts have a new design cart return (Harrisonburg Crossing). It'd be nice to see those come in.
I'll try to get some pictures on my next visit.
