I recently visited and I wasn't very impressed w/ my order. The hot chocolate was cold. The employee wasn't accurate w/ my order (asked for soy milk, but didn't put it in). Btw, I was not charged for soy milk on my receipt. Also, Staunton location is staying OPEN!!!!

This store is pretty nice. It's spacious and has a drive-thru. I like it! Unfortunately, this will be the closest store to Staunton once the Staunton, VA location (also with a drive-thru) closes this winter. That means a further drive to get a yummy Vivano or some espresso.

Hibachi Sushi & Supreme Buffet

This restaurant opened about 3 months ago, and I've been there 4 times. I like the "hibachi" grill, as well as the large selection of sushi, american and chinese cusine. They've got a large selection of ice cream, but the dessert "foods" I'm not too crazy about. They've got friendly, attentive staff who are constantly comitted to taking care of the customer. I'm very impressed with the Hibachi Sushi & Supreme Buffet!

Texas Roadhouse

I'm going to begin by saying I love steak (tender and juicy, but LEAN). I disagree with Nick, because I like Outback. Although they might not be quite as "saloon" style as some people like, I personally like the more contemporary styling of Outback; but don't get me wrong, I still like Texas Roadhouse too.

You can get a great steak, cooked to perfection and @ a decent price. Appetizers are good.

But there are a few cons that I must add in. They can get very crowded very quickly; I've known people who've waited 2 hours to get in. They're very popular, and to get a parking space and a maximum wait of 1 hour, your going to have to come a little early. Overall, I enjoy Texas Roadhouse. The Pick-Your-Steak option is nice, where you can pick your own steak from a "butchery-like freezer case" near the front of the restaurant. Good ol' Texas Roadhouse.

This place has  good dinner prices and usually have less wait time than "Texas Roadhouse" in Harrisonburg. Great steak and food, pumpernickle bread to die for, and great drink and dessert options. They've got nice outdoor seating and comfortable indoor seating, as well. The "Outback Carside" service offers carside carry-out services; you don't even have to get out of your car. I LOVE Outback.

Panera Bread

I love Panera Bread. They've got great sandwiches at decent prices (a little bit pricier than fast-food, but worth the extra dollar or two). I also love their cinnamon buns in the bakery. They've also got savory soups, perfect panini's and especially good salads.

The Pros: Great food, Decent prices, Friendly Team Members, Outdoor Seating, Electric Fireplace in the center of the restaurant, w/ couches around it

The cons: Not much parking, parking spaces are too close together, a traffic-riden location, the ordering system. They originally used the pager system (J-tech pagers), but recently have turned to the intercom, which means you are constantly listening to voices saying "xxx, your order is ready", which I find annoying and sort of distracting when you're having a conversation or just trying to relax. I would love to see the pager system come back!!!!

Otherwise, Panera is great!!!!!

Wal-Mart Supercenter

Category: Department Stores

2 star rating
 Update - 12/27/2009
The carts have been replaced with new ones (light blue, like the ones used in the recently remodeled Walmart stores w/ the new logo on them).

But, the cart returns have yet to be replaced and from what I saw it looks as if they haven't replaced the old logo on the building with the new Walmart * logo.

I haven't been inside since I saw that they finally had new carts (I was just driving by), but I'll try to get by and see if they've done anything with the interior.

As far as the meat department, I've got to agree with Mandi B. The produce is fair, but I haven't experienced many problems with finding products in stock. Let's face it, there's a lot more to desire in the Walmart "Grocery" department than what is there right now.

My 2-star rating for Walmart speaks for itself: Meh. I've experienced better.

Well, it's been about 2 years since they remodeled the Staunton Walmart, but there still seem to be quite a few "old elements" lurking throughout the store and it's exterior. And it's check-out lines continue to be long and the parking lot full and the "one-way arrows" on the pavement wearing off. The carts are still the old ones from way back when & they still lack the new Walmart logo (the one with the starburst at the end) on their exterior logo. The cart returns are rusting and the checkout signs (the lane markers w/ lights and the register #) looking ancient compared to new modern ones included in the massive remodeling efforts that Walmart is currently going through to completely overhaul most of it's stores/supercenters with it's new logo and signage. I think that WMT made a mistake by remodeling this store earlier when it could've waited just about a year longer and made it look decent. The new floors are already getting scratched up (thanks to the old carts).

This Walmart had been in need of renovation ever since it opened in 1995. It finally got them after 13 years. They gave both inside and out a facelift. On the outside, they replaced the orginal entrance area with a new colonial style, (but still with entrance doors there). They also replaced the blue/gray scheme with a new tan/brown scheme. On the inside, they replaced the floor tiles, widened the aisles, used new signage and logos, replaced the aging cash registers, price scanners and checkout conveyer belts with new ones, and renovated the restrooms (they were in need of it bad). Here are the reason's im giving it a 3: 1.long lines at checkout (why are there 42 lanes and 6 open??????) 2.  no self-checkout (i have to admit, their self-checkout system isn't wonderul in the 1st place, but it would allow for less staff and more checkout lanes, which would be nice). 3-Carts: they are continuing to use the aging 90's shopping carts that squeak, squeal and are very loud. 4-Cart Returns:some unremodeled walmarts have a new design cart return (Harrisonburg Crossing). It'd be nice to see those come in.
I'll try to get some pictures on my next visit.

Hilton Columbia

This Hilton is pretty nice. It's got a free business center, a great workout room (w/ free mini-bottle waters) and a pool & hot tub. A nice, affordable restaurant is located next to the lobby and it's huge atrium, which is about 4/5 floors high (some of the rooms look into the atrium, which was surprisingly not bothersome at all); the breakfast buffet at the restaurant was delicious. The fitness center (workout room) had the equipment with those little flat screen TVs attached to the machine itself (which I really liked!). This hotel was probably built in the early 90s, but the rooms and lobby, restrooms and restaurant have definently seen some modernization, although I was a little disappointed by the stuffiness, no background music, and overall lonely and old-looking locker rooms that adjoined the indoor pool area (but I didn't have any problems with the pool or hot tub, which were very clean). Free, close parking and the quiet location were nice (it's sort of nestled in the back of a forest-village type of residential neighborhood, but in a safe location) and were definently a plus! As Michele D. said, it's not within walking distance of anything. We were here for a wedding, and I think that this was a very nice, modest & conveniently-located hotel. I think that the 90's atrium, plant and flower feeling complimented the modern touches very well and would very much stay at this hotel again! Thanks, Hilton. :)

This is a very nice Quiznos. It's conveniently situated next to Walmart and near the crossroads of Rt. 340 and I-64. The selection of sandwiches to choose from is good and they even have delivery! Outdoor seating is available and there is lots of space inside, too.

Kmart

This is the cleanest and brightest Kmart store in the valley. There are some Kmart's that smell weird, are dark and are full of crying babies. But I've had good experiences at this Kmart store. It's got a garden centre, an electronics dept. (no, not the biggest or best selection, but about the same as walmart), a pharmacy, an Olan Mills portrait studio, a Kmart Cafe, and a Layaway Department. Unfortunately, this is NOT a Super Kmart. Their grocery selection is pretty bad, but if it's general merchandise you are looking for than you should come here. You can catch some real good deals on things, especially on Saturday's when they have their Blue Light Specials. If you are looking for good prices, a convenient location and a close parking spot to the door (you'll never find that @ Walmart), than look no further than the W~boro Kmart.
