Meh, the chips and salsa were the highlight of our dinner.

My fish tacos were very lackluster and bland, and my husband's tuna mac and cheese was just plan odd.

We both felt sick for the rest of the night.

I never plan to go back.

The Berghoff Restaurant

The Berghoff is a "venerable old Chicago institution" so maybe my expectations were too high, but visiting on a Saturday for lunch it felt more like Epcot center, a tourist reconstruction of something traditional. The food was underwhelming, and that's all I really care about.

Good food, cold beer, and we can sit on the patio with our dogs?

It doesn't get any better than this.

Great sandwiches, crispy bacon, and a mile long beer list are just icing on the cake.

The Sit Down Cafe & Sushi Bar

Sit Down Cafe is a great spot for a casual date.  My husband and I met another couple on Saturday night for lots of sushi, wine and sake.

The atmosphere is comfortable and lends itself nicely to lingering over conversation and cold cocktails.

Our server was attentive, but not pushy, and the food was quite good.  The fish was very fresh,  there was a nice selection of both traditional and creative maki rolls.

The menu also has great non-sushi fare.

We live in South Shore, and Sit Down Cafe is such a great change of pace from all the fried, gyros and burger take out available in the neighborhood.

I was a guest at the Viceroy Hotel last weekend and I can attest to its five star status.

I have not one single complaint or negative comment about the Viceroy.

Our room was simply stunning; chic, stylish, with a view to die for. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the bathrooms breathtaking. Gorgeous tub and shower that have me imagining a bathroom Renovation at home.

The food at Eight K restaurant is so good there's no need to leave the hotel. For lunch on Saturday I had a siblime take on a BLT made with pork belly and a soft cooked egg and my husband had an outstanding hamburger. I sipped on the uva bella; a gorgeous muddled grape and Plymouth Gin cocktail- a recipe I'll be trying all summer to recreate.

The heated pool and hot tubs made me want to jump out of bed each morning for a dip, and when I did the hotel staff had already drained, cleaned and refilled the hot tub following a rowdy party the night before- all by 8 am!

The Viceroy has one of the most beautiful spa's I've ever enjoyed. The "relaxation room" was aptly named; a gorgeous, dimly lit room built around a lovely water feature tat truly encouraged lingering and relaxation.

You might think that a gorgeous room, beautiful pool, fantastic food and relaxing spa would be enough- but the icing on the Cake at the Viceroy is the service. Everyone from the bellhop to the manager are eager to please and bend over backwards to accommodate guest requests.

My stay at the Viceroy was truly a luxurious experience.

Not amazing, but definitely the best in the neighborhood. Solid, consistent takeout.

Great dumplings.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I love delicious food- and healthy delicious food is even better... even if it is vegetarian/ vegan.

It is pretty tough to beat the lunch, but somehow breakfast is even better- but huge! Bring your appetite!

I balked at the scrambled tofu- but ate most of my husband's order.  The pancakes and bulgar patties were filling and delish.

But the best part?  A slice of vegan caramel and coconut cake to go.  Even better than the "real thing."

Great beer list, comfortable venue, good service and tasty bar grub.

The beef and cheddar was huge and cheesy.  It was like a gooey, mess of beef and cheese served in an onion-y bread bowl.  And I mean that in a good way.

And! Parking! An adjacent parking lot that actually had a few empty spaces!

Great bar, I'd love to return for a show soon.

The Publican is definitely going to be my go-to restaurant for entertaining out of towners from now on.

We ordered, well, a little bit of everything, and everything was delicious.

The beer list is no joke.

My only complaint was our pretentious waiter. Give me a break dude, it's just pork. Delicious pork, yes, but just pork.

My husband and I have tried to go four times, and for one reason or another it hasn't worked out. We finally made it when I took a Friday off work for my birthday.

Expect a long line- as long as it was on a cold Friday, I can't imagine how long the wait must be on a warm Saturday. That said, a long wait won't deter me from going back, yum!

Seeing as we were celebrating my birthday had no qualms about ordering the decadent Foie Gras and Sauternes Duck Sausage with Truffle Aioli, Foie Gras Mousse and Fleur de Sel. And the duck fat fries. And a corn dog. And a celery soda!

Everything was amazing, definitely worth the (thousands of) calories!
