I got a dress altered here. I bought it one size up because it was on sale.. :) He had to alter it in several places, but made it fit perfectly.
Cons: because it's just him, it takes at least a week. Also, it was a little pricey at $68 for ONE DRESS! Sigh. I'd come back to him if I needed an overhaul on a dress, but for regular hems, I'll be going elsewhere.
There's just something about it. It's not too sweet like McDonald's or Dairy Queen frozen yogurt or a frosty and t's not too creamy like some other frozen yogurt places. It's just the perfect balance of tart and chocolate, and has a nice texture.
For the moment, it's my dessert of choice. YUM!

Ehhhhhh.....
Not amazing, but not bad either. I've been here a few times. I've tried the tart, but it's not creamy enough for me. I only order the chocolate. It's good, and they have pretty good portion size, but it's a little on the icy side. They have the standard toppings (including mochi!) and the prices are definitely reasonable. A small doesn't leave you wanting more (*cough* Red Mango *cough*) for $2.50.
The inside of the store is nice and bright with simple decor and pretty lights. The customer service is good and it's never too busy. I'd go again.
I'm still a fan of the FOOD, but I've deducted 1.5 stars for SUBPAR SERVICE. The servers have never been friendly and smiley, but I don't mind that as much as I mind that the servers ignore me and give me service with a huff. I don't think it's asking too much to have my water refilled just ONCE during my meal.
The food comes out quick, getting anything after the food is delivered (extra sauce, napkins, water refill) takes forever, but they are quick to put down the check. Sometimes, only a little more than halfway through the meal!
I still love all the tofu soups, but I've tried some of their meats, and my new favorite item is their stir-fried clear noodles with veggies. SO YUMMY!

I went in expecting tables with hot pots on them, but was surprised not to find any. They also didn't have BBQ grills like many other Korean restaurants.
Nevertheless, dinner was Delicious with a capital "D." The seafood pancake was crisp, not overly oily, and filled with green onions and shrimp. The soon dubu spicy tofu soups with beef and tofu we ordered were sooo good! I loved the purple rice and the spice level at four stars was perfect. The side dishes were my favorite that I've had at a Korean restaurant, minus white radishes.
I left with a very, very full tummy for less than $30 for two! It's my new favorite Korean restaurant and it's local! Whee! :)
----
Came again tonight (that's two times in three days!) and ordered the same soup and seafood pancake, but also short ribs and bulgogi. The short ribs were awesome. They were tender and flavorful, but the bulgogi needed more sauce and were underseasoned. The soup and seafood pancake were just as good. A full restaurant on the weekdays and weekends for dinner. They only have two staff people, but they are polite and nice when they get around to you and food comes fast! :)
For great "alternative" Korean fare, cheap, delicious, and filling food, and leaving without the BBQ stench, I would highly recommend this restaurant! :)

I COULD EASILY OVERDOSE ON CARBS.
Stuffing and mashed potatoes slathered in gravy. Oh, the gravy goodness. Cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie... If only they had candied yams!
The turkey is ... turkey. You know how that is. They also offer a "vegan" option that tastes deceivingly similar to their mushroom soup, but it's still pretty good.
My boyfriend's family usually orders their "holiday dinners" here. They have lots of different options ranging from an intimate dinner for two to large parties. It is always delicious without the hassle of all the home cooking. We are lazy ;) MmmM... can't wait! :)

LACTOSE-INTOLERANT ICE CREAM LOVERS ALERT!
TEMPT HEMP MILK ICE CREAM!
Oh, oh, oh so good. I used to (and still) love ice cream. Since becoming lactose-intolerant, I have tried rice, soy, and coconut ice cream. My favorite flavor is chocolate, but it just isn't the same without the DAIRY. I was skeptical after hearing about Tempt's hemp ice cream, but the chocolate fudge flavor was delicious! It really captured the essence of chocolate ice cream that I craved and missed.
I was already really full from dinner, and was only intending on eating a few spoonfuls, but ended up eating half the pint. Oops! My boyfriend had to pry it out of my hands.
So, so, satisfied. I also tried the coffee biscotti today. While I wasn't a huge fan of the biscotti bits, the coffee flavor was fantastic. Creamy, flavorful... MMmMM!
Also tried Ciao Bella "chocolate jalapeno" and "key lime graham cracker." So interesting and yummy! Needless to say, I've been eating a lot of ice cream lately...
One of my recent discoveries is that they have fresh-squeezed melon juice, pineapple juice, and watermelon juice! OMG. So fresh and so good! Woot Whole Foods! Every time I go, there's something new and wonderful waiting :) -

They might be a little pricer, but you get quality for what you pay for. The produce is fresh, beautiful, and crying out to be bought and eaten. There is more fresh-cut fruit selection than any other grocery store I've been to for on-the-go snacking.
They have an AMAZING selection of cheese. They have soy (I'm lactose-intolerant), gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian products. Whole Foods has lots and lots of healthy choices of snacks and cereals. They have a great selection of olive, wine, and fresh seafood.
Their bakery is beautiful. I've gotten cakes two times and it has been mixed. The first time, the cake was pretty, but stale, dry, and tasted like it was a few days old. The second time, the cake was also decorated beautifully, but moist, flavorful, and a very reasonable price.
I love their raspberry yogurt-covered raisins and pretzels - yum! They also have some tasty organic "jolly beans." Lastly, my boyfriend and his family swears by their fresh burger patties with blue cheese (that sounds delicious!)
I'm sure there's lots more awesomeness that I have yet to discover at Whole Foods.. and I'm excited! I just wish my pockets were deeper and I could afford everything I want to try here :) -

Great for lunch!!
They have pizza, sandwiches, quesadillas, taco bar, soup bar, salad bar, assorted hot foods, lots of chicken, fish, rice, and pasta. They also have amazingly flavorful pulled pork (MMmMM!) that goes along awesome with their honey-soaked corn bread and gelato (hazelnut chocolate and pear sorbet are my favorites) for dessert.
Granted, it's a little pricey and not something I can afford to eat everyday, it's a nice place to meet a friend (no having to decide what genre of food to eat - it's all here) and quick for grab-and-go as well.
DELICIOUS DRINKS.
NICE AMBIANCE.
GOOD FOOD.
REASONABLE PRICES.
What's up with all the hatin'?
My friends surprised me for my birthday here last weekend :) Starting with a pretty host opening the doors for us at the entrance to our friendly server, service was great. The restaurant was stunning. Beautiful chandelier lighting with a large fireplace and simple black decor. It's very trendy and the lounge doesn't feel like the sausage fest like Joeys.
The drinks were delicious! I had two rounds -- the only time I've had more was a year ago in Vegas ;) The blended lemon meringue cocktail was delicious! Lemony, pineapple-y... fruity and sweet, just like I like it! YUM! The blended and regular mojitos, and sour grinch (appleish) cocktail were also delicious.
Overall, the food was really pretty good. The fettucine alfredo was one of the best I'd had. The sauce was just right -- not too watery and not too thick and a HUGE portion! Two girls shared it and still couldn't finish it. The "California" pizza with shrimp, feta cheese, and pesto was REALLY GOOD. The crust was nice and thick, but also had a nice crunch. The curry I ordered was pretty good (esp. being an "American" restaurant). The brie/chicken/cranberry sandwich was a little too sweet, but still good.
I really liked the vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant. I could definitely see myself coming here regularly. Definitely high repeat value :)
Tips: park in Lincoln Square and they don't take reservations.

Godiva Chocolatier
Categories: Candy Stores, Desserts
This bought me to Godiva. Godiva has never failed me in my moments of need.
Boyfriend and I picked out a box of their custom truffles and they were all delicious! Granted, it's a little more expensive to "create your own box," but definitely worth it. Not that their ready-made boxes aren't perfection as well. Some of the highlights -- pumpkin spice truffle and pecan pie truffle. YUM! Very festive for the season and very decadent and delicious. Boyfriend really loves the key lime and raspberry chocolate truffles.
The two of us managed to eat about half the box by the end of the night (about 12 chocolates). Yes, I know. I am gluttonous. Don't hate :)

First to Review
Overpriced, but the packaging is always beautiful, colorful, in season, and the chocolate is consistent and delicious. Plus, you're paying for the brand. Godiva is much more classy than say, See's, or chocolates from the grocery store.
Sometimes I pop in to get one or two chocolates as a treat and I love, love, love getting boxes as gifts though one time I finished an entire box in a day. Yes, gross, I know, but I have very little self-control when it comes to chocolate. My favorite are their truffles... but their chocolate bars are amazing too.
Even though it's a chain and a store in the mall, I'm a fan!

Oh! Chocolate
Category: Chocolatiers and Shops
I was excited to visit Oh! Chocolate for the first time last week. However, the store had so much space that was utilized so poorly!
I had a hard time picking out chocolates. They had run out of my favorite -- cherry cordials and a lot of the chocolates just didn't look or sound that appealing. I finally picked out a mocha truffle and a tiramisu. I took a bit of the tiramisu and spit it out and I only ate half of the mocha truffle if that gives you any indication of how I felt about it...
I ventured upstairs to Godiva and got my chocolate fix there instead ;)
We ordered a ton of food!
For appetizers: bo la lot beef
Saigon sliders
Lemongrass chicken satay
The bo la lot beef was good as always -- tender, juicy, with a little crunch, and bursting with flavor. The sliders (mini fish cake patties with a spicy aioli and pickled veggies) were really unique and flavorful, but the satay was just alright.
For entrees, we ordered:
Eggplant in a curry sauce
Drunken chicken
Glass noodles with black cod
Peking duck
I LOVE eggplant. I usually get eggplant with garlic sauce at Chinese restaurants, but this one rivaled my love for that dish. The sauce was killer and the eggplant was cooked perfectly. While the chicken didn't taste too "drunken" to me, it fried and tasty. No complaints. The black cod was buttery and melt-in-your mouth with nice accompaniments of mushrooms and glass noodles. The peking duck was tender and delicious. YUMMM!!!
We also ordered a plum house cocktail (yum!) and a pineapple mint fizz mocktail. The mocktail was minty and very refreshing. The jackfruit cocktail was ick - it tasted like a gross milkshake. AVOID. They only offer 1 Asian beer - Saigon. It was decent, but then again, I'm not a huge fan of beer. I left with a very full and satisfied stomach :)
Service is always good, the decor is modern and great for a dinner party or intimate date, and prices and portions were good. Definitely make a reservation though!
*note: also came here for happy hour a couple of weeks ago. ORDER THE SAIGON SLIDES AND BO LA LOT BEEF! TRUST ME. Good prices and portions. I'd definitely recommend it for an after-work treat or an early dinner.

I'm usually skeptical of Asian fusion, but I was impressed with Monsoon East.
I came tonight (Friday) and it was buzzing. We didn't have a reservation and so it was either wait 20 minutes for a table or sit at the bar. While the boyfriend and I don't normally opt for the bar, we were hungry and the bar looked comfy and spacious.
The menu was just one page, but decently expansive. We ordered:
*bo la lot beef (seaweed wrapped around grilled flank steak)
*lemongrass prawn curry
*crispy tofu with shitake mushrooms and roasted red peppers
The food was surprisingly quick considering the full restaurant. Our waiter was very busy, so our water glasses were perpetually empty and we had to flag him down to order and get the bill, but otherwise, all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The presentation of the food was very simple. It was beautiful and simple. My favorite dish was the bo la lot beef. The beef was smokey, with good texture, a little crunch, and great dipped into a spicy chili sauce. MmM!! The curry was creamy and had a bold flavor. The tofu dish was good, but nothing special. My one big complaint was the brown rice. It was really dry and overcooked and they charge $1.50 :(
Overall, great ambiance, good food, good portions and reasonable prices ($45 for two). Nice place for a date or dinner party. Great interior with an open kitchen so you can see the action. Very cool. Make a reservation on weekend nights though! Also, allot some extra time for parking -- no lot, just street parking.

November 29 8:00 AM
Date

Fro-yo flavors: green tea, original tart, chocolate, golden cherry, raspberry-pomegranate, acaiberry, and pineapple tart.
They also offer smoothies, assorted teas, snow ice, and belgian waffles!
I thought the tart, chocolate, and acaiberry were okay.. I prefer the original tart from Red Mango and the chocolate from Schnoo Yogurt... and parking at this location is not easy. You have to park in the Safeway/Avalon Apt. parking lot and walk around the building.
