Penguin's Paradise Café & Dessert Bar

This is one of the best dedicated dessert bars in Orlando on par with Dessert Lady. The fresh Italian ice creams are rich, plentiful, and available in more than a dozen unique flavors. My sin of choice was a chocolate concoction subtitled "Death By Chocolate", and oh my goodness they were *not* kidding. I was in chocolaty heaven in mere moments! Coldstone Creamery falls short compared to this place, if that's possible.

I also ordered a Lemon Chiffon Cupcake, which was tasty enough but a little on the dry side with an overabundance of frosting. Still, it was delicious. One of my friends, Kathleen, ordered a chocolate chip-covered cannoli that looked like the embodiment of pure yum.

When you visit Penguin's, prepare yourself for service and quality of sweets to be a genuine treat!

I have my poodle-spaniel mix, Lily, groomed here every so often and Megan does a great job!  My pup is deathly afraid of blow-dryers so Megan takes that into consideration during a groom. The secret to Petsmart groomers is to find the one that's right for you and your animal.

This location also carries a variety of chinchilla pellets, grapevine perches, et cetera, so there no end to the variety of chew toys, treats, and hay for my two furry chins.

For a standard pet store, this Petsmart has all their bases covered.

The secret to this place is that just because they have a thin crust doesn't mean they skimp on the toppings. My favorite is their signature pie, the Valdiano. The sausage has a nice flavor without being too spicy. The red peppers, onions, and mushrooms are firm but juicy, which is just the right balance to the thin, crunch pizza crust. Every time I'm in the area I'll make it a point to stop by Valdiano's!

G&G Thai Cuisine

My boyfriend and I have been to this place time and again, once as eat-in and twice as take-out, and had memorable experiences regardless. The first time we ate in waiters were attentive and the meal was the best Thia we've had in Orlando by far.

I ordered the Tom Yum Goong soup, which is was full of thick and juicy shrimp and mushrooms in a lightly hot and sour broth. The freshness of the ingredients, especially the lemon grass really set off the rest of the dish. Their soups are generous in size so if you order an entree from here on in, there will be left overs.

The first time I ate in with my boyfriend and ordered the Chicken Eggplant entree, which completely shocked me with the juicy, flavorful eggplant! It's very easy to overcook eggplant until it's no longer juicy or firm, but the scrumptious, light sauce of this dish seeps into the eggplant and bamboo in a satisfying way.

My favorite entree at G & G Thai is the Honey Duck. Served over a bed of veggies and pineapple, there's a surprisingly delicate sweetness to this dish that immediately had me in its thrall. You would think the sauce would be overpoweringly sweet, especially with the accompanying fresh pineapple, but you would be wrong! Plus, the duck is oh-so-crispy but well marinated that it cannot disappoint either eat-in or take-out.

Another good entree is the Sweet and Sour Pork, which you would immediately expect to be a dull, familiar hold-over but G & G really makes the simplest dish an experience. The sauce was again light but coated all the fresh veggies and pork strips nicely, and there was also a subtle hotness to the dish that was an extra treat.

G & G Thai's appetizers, soups, and entrees are so good that neither my boyfriend or I have ever had room for dessert! But with the large menu, quality meals, and nice staff we're only more than happy to go back.

Bark Avenue Bakery

This small pet bakery nestled in the popular Windermere area really has their all-natural pet food bases covered!  From the moment I walked into the shop in search of Innova puppy food, the aromas from yummy pet cookies made me feel right at home. They apparently make their own fresh cookies on the premises judging by the industrial stainless steel kitchen just behind the register area. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful with all of my dog food questions; I was a first-time holistic dog food buyer at the time so the outgoing helpfulness was definitely welcome!

This chain store has a little bit of everything, even spanning to holistic and all-natural dog and cat foods. The staff was more than helpful, and one of their dog trainers was quick to assess my Lily's submissive pack member tendencies. While Petco doesn't carry the variety of products Petsmart boasts, it still covers all the bases for someone's most basic pet needs. Owners of exotics need alternative supply sources, though, because I can never find the Mazuri Diet for my chinchillas at Petco.
