I wish they offered salads with vinaigrette, or balsamic vinegar, but compared to other restaurants whose idea of steamed mixed vegetables is drenching water chestnuts and bamboo twigs in hot water, they are number one in the steamed food arena.
They just opened about 6 months ago, so I hope the quality and quantity of this particular dish doesn't change.
But until I find a restaurant that specializes in a wide array of dishes low in fat and high in micro-nutrients and fiber, my search goes on.

San Francisco School of Bartending

Several months later Shawn implemented what I called a "real bar internship" where alumni were invited to practice at a real bar every tues or weds night. The class taught me the basics of technique, presentation, and recipes. The "internship" taught me everything else. But only because I showed up every single week for 6 months... until I got the job AT THE INTERNSHIP.
Since then i've met people from all around the world, flirted with some of the most beautiful and interesting women, and received an income that supplemented a fabulous lifestyle.
I don't bartend anymore because im moving on to start an online business (greatly contributed to my experiences bartending). But its good to know that the school is always there waiting for me if I want to regain my skills and live that life all over again. I still receive the great newsletter emails and internship invites. And I know that there will always be a fresh network of bars looking for new hires.
Don't listen to anyone who says that they don't guarantee a job after you graduate. Nothing in life comes easy, even if you are a "hot female aspiring bartender." If you are willing to spend the money, time, and effort, you can get what you want. And this class provides a venue for that.
In the end, bar managers and owners want speed and money, and this school provides the best foundation there is in the form of a grandiose network of bars, bartenders, and fellow students. And then there's the internship.
There's a saying in the "industry:" Once you get in, you're in.
But you have to work to get it.

I found myself observing how casual and friendly Robert was and wondered if he was either a host who loved his job or the owner. It was because of him everyone, plus the people waiting in line (us included), were in a good mood.
Robert would go from table to table once and a while and talk to the people eating. They would react positively and talk for a few seconds. It was as if Robert was a fairy sprinkling happy dust onto each table, making everyone smile and making their conversations even livelier. (It was pretty loud in there.)
But I must say that our waiter was also nice, he had an optimistic demeanor about him. And the music made me bob my head. It was one of the two times in my life that I had enjoyed really, really, great blues that wasn't live.
Oh, and Robert gave us an order of free hush puppies after waiting for 1.5 hours. A gesture of appreciation I thought not only for coming in early, but for bringing in 17 patient individuals.
I suggest the following dishes: 1) Catfish with hush puppies and sweet potato mash. 2) Mixed grill with sweet potato mash. A bowl of gumbo makes for a filling (and spicy) appetizer.
Thanks Robert! Tell your partner to 'sweat' with you! (Inside joke, nothing sexual intended).

Golden Auto Muffler & Brake, Inc.
Category: Auto Repair
If you have a Toyota, this is a good spot for you because they get their Toyota parts from the huge Toyota Metropolis down the street.
Other than that, this is what you do when you have a car problem, and you live in or around Daly City.
Step 1: Go to Golden Auto, preferably in the morning
Step 2: Park right in front, get out and shout "Lisa?!"
Step 3: Someone gets into your car, don't worry, Dan isn't stealing it.
Step 4: Wait in the room until Lisa gives you an update. If service begins, go to Hawaiian Drive-in, Chick-n-coop, or Wendy's. Or watch your car get serviced on.
Step 5: Come back, pay, talk to Lisa for 5 minutes and drive away.
4 stars because i've been here 4 times and im still unnerved by the fast yet attentive service.

In summary, this spot is my new "superstar" breakfast. A few dollars more, but worth the premium. You pay for eating space, service, a bigger menu, and fresh ingredients, some home-made, like their Buko-pie. Chel told us they literally made them at home because lack of oven space at Tselogs. Oh, and I saw a laptop: they have free wifi.
Chel was on TFC talking about her new spot, and she herself serves the customers who eat here often. This equates to an owner who really loves her restaurant.
I can see 5 years down the line, instead of increasing prices or cutting corners (or closing altogether) like other restaurants, she can open another spot.
Thanks Chel! Mark from Michigan says hi, yeeeeee!
4 stars because, for some reason, I cannot get tired of the 3 dollar Hong Kong Style pork chops at Superstar or Gateway Kitchen.

Brand new, not busy, hidden, and green. Strictly for Playa Vista residents only because its nestled in between lofts and apartment complexes.
I don't live here. I came all the way from Daly City to come here. Just kidding no I didn't. I was still here though. I visited my cousin. Ok bye.

Date

Grilled Calamari stuffed with feta, fennel & orange with black olives ($7.50). The stuffing is what really got me. Time to stuff Filipino pusit with feta!
Grilled Octopus with lemon, oregano & olive oil ($11.75). The octopus was surprisingly soft. Grilled octopus is usually tough. That together with the flavorful olive oil they doused it with, made my eyes roll back in my head in delight.
Last but not least there's the "po'-folk" appetizer: fried and abundant. That would be the fried smelt with garlic-potato skordalia & lemon ($7.50) which unfortunately wasn't up to par with fried smelt in cheaper places. It was a bit tough to bite and the exterior not as crisp, but there's a lot of it. Dip it in that yogurt sauce everything comes with and you'll be fine.
