Shatangi knows a good bartender. One that does not cringe at my cranberry & soda order when my friend is ordering VSOP gets my vote any time. The free refill and attentive service are really appreciated by someone who is not spending a ton. I'll try out the restaurant next time I'm in.

Shatangi loves the trendyloin!! 1st, 2nd & 3rd Mondays each month are open mic nights in my hood (register @ 7PM, show starts 7:30) and the last Monday is a showcase of the best of the best.

This week's lineup included Justin Simpson, Casey Ley, Cameron Edmundson, Marty Grimes with Marga Gomez headlining!! What an awesome show!! Thanks Tony!

Shatangi has been to too many places who's crepes are to old to be unlike burritos. Not a problem here. I really enjoyed the fresh taste of my crepe and its fillings (Awesome Potatoes!). The service was also very polite and efficient. Add to your list of lunch with a friend places.

Mint Cafe

Shatangi likes a good sandwich. The mint has some of the best to offer in the Civic Center area. A bit expensive but a great sandwich. The (I believe owner) who runs the register is super sweet and always pleasant. The other crew (especially the one with the piercing) tend to look at you like you just kicked their puppy. Would it hurt you to smile back when I say hello and smile? No big though.

El Patio Espanol

Shatangi, are we in Daly City yet? Almost Boo. If Olive Garden had an ugly Spanish niece, it would be Patio Espanol. Attended a large company banquet there last week. The "banquet hall" was a throwback to a Kiwanas Hall circa 1973. The food was the same. Overly chewy rolls served in baskets covered to lock in thier room temperature. Did not see the pasta option but the cream of mushroom chicken was ok if you scraped off all the sauce and stuff. The "steak" that had never seen a grill and the "paella" were both served with what appeared to be minute rice and Birdseye vegetable medley. The service was at best sparse and the bartenders were just a bit off. I would have prefered well executed comfort food to the amateurish attempt at Spanish cuisine. Extra star for a big enough room. Minus a star for inadequate parking.

Shatangi is a big fan of zombies! I like them on the screen but not in an employee smock at my local pharmacy. Sorry to interrupt your clearly stimulating conversation with my need to shop. Sorry for making you look up and miss a second of what that girl did on Glee last night. Sorry you don't understand that you should at least respond to my "thank you". I would encourage the manager to invest in some training for the staff and for heaven's sake, get these people some Monster or Red Bull.

Jardiniere Restaurant and J- Lounge

Shatangi is a sucker for a tasting menu. Jardinaire delivered on most everything. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The music ranged from Russian disco to light hip-hop. The service is choreographed well and beautifully executed. No detail was overlooked and the team of servers worked our table like old pros. The food is clean and well presented. The postion sizes for the tasting menu are very well though out to match the pace of the guest and the servers. My only minor moment of cringe was upon receipt of the check we found it was a bit more than expected considering we did not have the wine parings. We did add on a few orders of foie gras terrine that were to die for. I'd go back but stick to the regular menu. The meal was great but I can not really justify the expense as compared with it's price. Total 4.5 stars

The Cinch

Shatangi knows now that the Cinch is open at 6AM on Saturday. Welcome!! The Cinch is the perfect place to host an event with a diverse large group. An old-school Polk St gay watering hole, the Cinch welcomes a variety of neighborhood regulars. There is an outdoor smoking area in the back and the bartenders are efficient and quick to greet you. A great neighborhood bar.
