Halima is awesome. Extremely knowledgeable and about as personable as you can get. I had an incredibly positive experience with her for running gait analysis sessions (read more about it here: http://www.hellasound....) and have recommended her to every runner I know. Truly good stuff.

Holy tastiness. You can smell the food when you get out of your car and your mouth starts watering immediately.

I've been here twice (so far) and am continually impressed.
The first time I got the pappardelle with veggies--I think it's called Pesto Primavera. The pasta is handmade and fresh, so it's a little thicker and a lot more delicious than the stuff I'm used to. The veggies were great, including these tiny diced butternut squash that were awesome and added to the overall texture. So good.

The second time I got the stuffed meatballs rice bowl. Again, delicious: kalamata olives, cheese, and fantastic meatballs. I guess people think rice dishes in an italian restaurant are weird, that doesn't seem weird to me. Makes perfect sense. AND it's a gluten-free option for folks that wanna get their Italian on.

Both times I got the grilled garlic bread. Delicious.

Awesome stuff from this brand new restaurant.

Ana Limo is fantastic.
Kamal and his drivers are friendly, courteous and prompt; and while a car service might seem like a decadent luxury, the rate is actually comparable to a cab for airport drop-off and pick up.

Very relaxing, enjoyable way to get back home after a long trip, and a great way to be confident that you'll get to the airport or event on time.

*MuchI* better than having to climb into a beat up cab and submit to an  insane driver weaving in and out of traffic while he talks on loudly his phone.

Ugh.

I was excited that there was a 24 Hour Fitness with a pool in SF. The awesome folks at the CPMC Running Clinic (http://tinyurl.com/CPM...) recommended I cross-train with swimming to get a more well-rounded hip workout. The frog kick you do in the breaststroke is perfect, and I had been intending to start swimming again anyway.

Perfect, right?

This pool was nasty. NASTY. Probably the murkiest pool I've ever swam in. Interestingly enough, they apparently just finished their daily cleaning when I arrived, so god knows what it looked like an hour earlier.

Blech.

Furthermore, the pool room is also the hot tub room. The creepy bathhouse vibe was really nasty.

Want a clean, tidy, well-light swimming environment? Definitely, definitely go somewhere else.

Also, the location is not the best. Sure, there's parking (which is a luxury in this city), but you literally have to go into this dungeon-like parkinglot cave--complete with pipes dripping god-knows-what on you--to access the main entrance.

What an excellent shoe-shopping experience. I just spent about half an hour with Brett, who methodically measured, analyzed and assessed my physiology and gait, all the while offering insight into what he was deducing and answering all my questions (which were many).

I'm a high-arched, mildly underpronating super-clydesdale, and I think I've found my San Francisco shoe store. Good selection, reasonable prices and very knowledgeable people--what else could you ask for?

Holy storegasm--this place is awesome! Tons of stuff, tons of cool stuff, and a lot of helpful employees walking around, asking you how you're doing and if you need help.

Lots of different sports are represented, from running to outdoorsy woodland stuff. They had ski and snowboard clothing, a ski section, a huge bike section.

Seriously, why haven't I been here before? And there's a parking lot, no less. Five stars, two thumbs up, etc etc etc. Me gusto mucho.

REI always seems like it's going to be better than what it turns out to be. The failure of a store to live up to its marketing perhaps?

I came in looking for some running clothes and outerwear; the sales people had this general attitude like I was some sort of interloper, invading their beautiful scenic campground. Forget a friendly "hi"--you'll be lucky to get eye contact here. Uncomfortable really.

Aside from the negative vibe I got from the staff, there really wasn't much in terms of selection. They had somewhat limited choices for running apparel, and it was definitely geared more towards camping and "hiking" than running.

If I was into hiking, I'd probably give this place 2-3 stars. Since I was looking for more general running products, I'm sticking to my 1 star rating. Sorry REI.

Not a positive experience. I really wanted this to be THE shoe store answer, but it just wasn't. They have a pretty big selection and a pretty large store, but the sales staff aren't as knowlegeable as they position themselves to be, and they are not at all attentive. In addition to having limited knowlege about runners and the shoes they carry, they sold me some orthotic inserts that actually jacked me up pretty bad for a while. No bueno.

The first shoe store that find the perfect running shoe for my feet. Like everybody else I dug around online and tried to diagnose my requirements; I did the whole "step on our magic sensor" thing for a listless salesperson at RoadRunner sports, etc etc. Then someone pointed me to this gem of a store. Helpful people, active in the running community and knowlegeable about what my physiology required. And they had a good selection of larger, wide shoes for my Fred Flintstone feet. Good stuff.

Smaller store, decent selection of stuff. There's a running group that meets up here (on Wednesdays I think), which is pretty cool. They might not have every item, but they occasionally have good interesting items; case in point, the fancy Nike billion-strap running bra my wife found there. They didn't have the color she wanted, but she saw the item here in the first place. That counts for something, doesn't it?
