Casablanca Mexican Restaurant & Cantina
Category: Mexican
But needless to say I'll yelp about it anyway
Chimichangas are my mexican obsession, and any restaurant that has them on the menu wins in my book. Not all mexican restaurants have chimichangas on the menu (which is strange to me because its basically a deep fried burrito).
So in short, Casablanca did in deed have the highly esteemed chimichanga on the menu. The fajita chimichanga caught my eye, and you could order it with either steak or chicken. I wasnt in the mood for chicken and i dont like huge pieces of steak in a burrito, or chimichanga for that matter, so when I saw on a different one that you could get shredded steak, I asked the waitress to make the switch. She happily obliged.
The refried beans were very delicious and the chimichanga was HUGE. the yellow rice was okay, i've had better.
Did I mention they give you three different types of salsa to devour with tortilla chips? oh i didnt? well they do...and its an awesome idea, they had green tomato salsa, a regular red salsa and a super chunky fresh salsa with no liquid. Something for everyone!
I enjoyed my experience at Casablanca and next time I want to go there i'll better observe the area!

Neighborhood: Beacon Hill
2 Stars for not only being super close to my apartment but is always on my walk home from any adventures that included alcohol where carbs are needed
3 Stars for ALWAYS having bruschetta pizza (which is my favoriteeee) not to mention its really good bruschetta pizza
4 Stars for being super quick...youre always in and out with a HUGE slice of pizza
and the 5th and most beloved star is for being open until 4AM, thats right 4AM on weeknds. that in itself is amazing.

Eggroll Cafe
Categories: Coffee & Tea, Asian Fusion
I highly recommend the veggie and classic rolls...super delicious!
The passion fruit bubble tea was amazing! at first i felt like it tasted perfumey but then i grew to really enjoy it. and i might just stick with the eggroll cafe just to have their bubble tea because its hard to find in the suburbs.
All in all the decor could be nicer and the arrangement of tables and chairs could be better too...And i would have liked if they kept the kitchen closed off with a door or a sheet or something..but its not a bad place to grab a quick snack or some awesome bubble tea
All entrees come with two sides that you can choose from a list of maybe 8. I tried the fried shredded steak with rice and black beans. The steak had SO much flavor and the beans were so yummy. It is a huge portion of food no matter what you order. The sides are FULL sides, as in they don't come slapped on the same plate as your entree. You can tell that it's a family restaurant and that it is popular among people who live in Miami.
So if you're ever in Miami and looking for some to die for cuban food head over to La Rosa!

Maddie's Bagel & Eatery

I ordered the Veggie Benedict with home fries instead of fruit. For the amount of people that were there for breakfast it came out SUPER quick! I was so surprised. With coffee chocolate milk, veggie benedict and tip the total cost was only 13 some odd dollars...not too shabby!
They have an extensive breakfast menu...very impressive. I would definitely give Maddie's a try if you're in the area!

The Oceanaire Seafood Room
Category: Seafood
Neighborhood: Downtown
The Oceanaire Seafood Room...isn't your run of the mill seafood joint. There will be no fish slinging, swearing like a sailor rum chugging here.
While that is all in good fun, if you're looking for a slightly fancier place to dine on some INSANELY fresh seafood (i'm talking as if they just threw a line out and caught your dinner after you ordered it) this is the place. Apparently they fly their west coast fishes in EVERY day. This is unique to their services because they refuse to serve anything that has been frozen no matter what.
I ordered off of the Fall Menu which consisted of a three course meal. I HAD to try the clam chowder as my fist course (im trying to find my favorite clam chowder of all time). It was very unique. Super silky and had a slight spice to it....very nice. For the main course I ordered the salmon with an apple and almond chutney. SO yummy. Never would I have thought apples and salmon would pair so nicely. For dessert I ordered the key lime pie. If you like lip smacking super tart desserts this would be a hit. It was SO SO limey! Really rich too...i could barely finish it.
The service was super prompt. As soon as my water was less than half full they hurried over to fill it. The waiter was very nice and helpful with the menu. So why the 4 out of 5 stars? I wasn't blown away with the ambiance. While it is obviously a very nice set up and is definitely nicer than a pub..It was a very open space - not very intimate. I would have liked to see more booths or something that would have created a more intimate feel.
Over all though I was very pleased with my experience and food at the Oceanaire Seafood Room!

Cambridge Nails & Spa
Category: Nail Salons
Neighborhood: Beacon Hill
I decided to try Cambridge Nails a second time today for a manicure. I felt like the manicurist was slightly rushing...however my nails came out decently. Now I will turn to yelp to find the best nail spa in Boston before I venture out again (Something I should have done in the first place i suppose)

Beantown Pub
Categories: Pubs, American (Traditional)
Neighborhood: Downtown
Food was ok not anything to write home about...they definitely dont skimp on portion size though.
Hard to get a table...you have to basically pounce on one once people have finished their meals
If i hadnt been starved and had walked the entire city prior to my visit i might have been okay with the way they do things at the beantown pub

The Hill Tavern
Categories: Restaurants, Pubs
Neighborhood: Beacon Hill
The service is alright
The atmosphere is very hole in the wall/pub-y
So if youre just looking for a quick bite to eat or a few beers with friends this will do the trick
I feel it's more of a locals spot than a place to take an out of town friend (unless again its just for beers)

I hadn't been back until last weekend and this time we went on a Friday night at 8pm. 1-2 hours was the wait time for a lane. Luckily they have a huge bar that helped us pass the time. I mean what were we gonna do, go down the street to another bar and have drinks there instead? Not so much. After chit chatting and relaxing for about an hour we decided to see where we stood on the wait. There were people still on the list before us but the girl working said she would accommodate us because our whole party was here (unlike the groups before us). YAY!
So to make a long story short I do like Jillian's and Lucky Strike Lanes. There's no cover charge, tons of seating and hey who doesn't like to bowl?
And the prices? 6 bucks per game and 3 to rent shoes i didn't find to be horrible and out of the question
